Biography

Adela Renata Vega was born on August 23rd, 1893 in Seville, Spain. Her parents were Jose Ramon Vega and Mireille Renard - Vega, the sister of Florence Renard, Chantal's mother. The pair had met at Beauxbatons, with Jose being two years above Mireille. The relationship between them had started sometime in Jose's sixth year and culminated with a wedding a year after Mireille graduated. The birth of Adela took place about 10 months after the event.

The little brunette was mostly raised by her mother, because her father was away half of the time, working at the Spanish Ministry of Magic. The girl didn't particularly like how things were going, feeling rather lonely so her mother introduced her to her older cousin from France, Chantal. The two immediately got into a tight friendship and neither of them ever let go of it. Unfortunately, the pair got broken at the moment when Chantal was sent to Hogwarts. Adela protested quite loudly at this decision made by her aunt (because the two cousins had agreed to go to Beauxbatons together) and the latter told her not to set foot in her house again. Mireille sided with her daughter and disapproved completely her sister's demeanor and she told her that she was not going to speak to her again. And they haven't seen each other since.

Her mother began to introduce her into the world of magic. Slowly, but surely. Adela started to like magic and one day she fiddled with a potion that she wasn't supposed to handle and spilled it all over a rather expensive carpet in their home. Her father didn't particularly like this little stunt and told her that she needed to be more responsible about magic. So he made a letter of application to Beauxbatons, because he considered the French school to be more suitable for her than Hogwarts. Adela didn't like the idea much but Mireille talked to her and convinced her to accept the situation as it was. Among the arguments was the fact that Beauxbatons had a special section dedicated to music. Adela had started to like singing since she was 6. According to a lot of people that had listened to her at several parties given by her father, she had a lovely voice. And she wanted to try and improve her singing ability. Hence why the musical argument convinced Adela to go to Beauxbatons.

At Beauxbatons, her fiery Spanish blood managed to get her into a lot of trouble, causing quite a few broke jaws and noses among the students. Plus a few pranks had her name on it. She was also well-known around the school as being a boy-charmer. Although she was merely restraining her contact with the boys to teasing conversation and a few occasional snogs. Outside this, she excelled in the Beauxbatons equivalent of Charms and Conjuring/Summoning and absolutely loved her music lessons. Not to mention flying, hence why she signed up for Quidditch in her final two years and turned out to be quite talented in the sport.

After graduation, the 18 year-old signed up for the courses at the Madrid College of Sorcery. It was the step that every respectable Spanish wizard or witch were taking before joining the ranks of the Spanish Ministry of Magic. Adela wasn't too convinced about this path but considered to be a better option when compared to becoming a Healer or a businesswoman. While at college, she started to like clothing a whole lot and treated each and every one of her dresses as if it was some priceless jewel. Separate from the college, she continued her music lessons and, after another year, Adela was able to sing really well in Spanish and French. Midway through the college, she started taking English lessons, out of her wish to widen her language portfolio.

After coming out of college, she applied for a job at the Ministry and got in. When finding out that her cousin Chantal was working in the French Ministry, she began sending owl-mails to her. Much to her cousin's delight. Six months later, the pair was reunited in Paris, while Adela was on a short vacation. The mystery regarding the lengthy silence between the two of them was then revealed: both their mothers had told them not to speak to each other again, mostly because of the quarrel between the two Renard sisters. But Adela had decided to break that promise and, when confronted with her mother, she fiercely defended her decision and Mireille accepted it in the end.

After two years in the Spanish Ministry, she decided to make a change and applied for a transfer to the Spanish-equivalent of the Department of Magical Games and Sports from the Department of International Magical Cooperation where she had gotten in the first place, thanks to her knack for languages. Her request was denied though, for no specific reason. Adela attempted to find out why was her transfer request rejected but her attempts got her nowhere. At Chantal's advice and with the support of her parents, Adela quit the Spanish Ministry and moved to France, where she got in the local Ministry of Magic, not to mention in the Department that she wanted. She was well aware of her cousin's massive dislike for Quidditch, hence why she appreciated a whole lot the help that Chantal gave her in order to get in that Department and get herself settled in Paris.

After other two years, Chantal left the French Ministry and went to Hogwarts as a Transfiguration Professor. Adela stayed behind but the two kept in touch. She had also kept in touch with her mother and one morning she received the news that her father had passed away. Ignoring the warnings from her superiors in the French Ministry, she returned to her home in Seville and stayed with her mother for a few weeks. At her return to Paris, Adela discovered that the French Ministry had thrown her in the street. Furious, she let her fiery Spanish blood take over and let out a torrent of insults towards her former superiors, before getting escorted out of the building by the Ministry security.

Adela continued to mail Chantal at Hogwarts and that was how she found out that her cousin was pregnant and was going to get married in a few months. The brunette wanted to attend the wedding, but she got herself down with a nasty case of dragonpox the day before the wedding and was unable to be by her cousin's side. After a few more months, she sold her house in Paris and, with the help of a consistent sum of money sent to her by her mother, Adela took the path towards north. Towards Scotland. Towards Hogsmeade. Towards her beloved cousin. And perhaps towards some good-looking (and perhaps wealthy) males. Because the Spanish brunette was still playing the flirting game. Just the way her cousin had done it before settling down and forming a family. Adela's appearance was surely helping her play this game: slender figure, beautiful dark red (or just fiery red, depending on her choice) hair flowing down in curls to her shoulders, penetrating hazel eyes, Latin charm oozing out of every inch of her body, graceful swaying movements when walking, not to mention her favorite dresses to wear, the ones harboring the ardent red color. The same color that her full lips have. What man could possibly resist these features that are combined to form this enchanting Spanish beauty?

Truth be told, Adela wasn't expecting to not find a suitable male companion when arriving in the UK. And certainly did not expect to find a job so quickly at the Ministry of Magic. In the section that she was most linked to: Quidditch League Headquarters. Every now and then, she kept her flirting game going with various colleagues, but mostly she presented a professional attitude, both at the office and outside of it. Adela became the person in charge with the players' best interests, mostly looking at the players' contracts to make sure they were fair. Towards the players, that is. Since the club had acquired their services, one could assume the club could afford to invest in the players, no? After almost 8 years on the job, she still enjoyed her work and was unable to think of doing something else.

Her personal life suffered a serious tremor when she found out that she had a step-sister. Her mother had had an affair while being married. Needless to say that Adela was quite furious at the beginning, mostly at her mother. The Spaniard considered her sibling didn't need to be recipient of her wrath, because she wasn't at fault. Of course, she was the symbol of Mireille's mess-up but ... that was it. Soon enough, things calmed down and Adela became a caring sister to Mirabelle, while still holding a thorn against her mother.

Relationship-wise, Adela realized that the English males weren't much to her taste. Sure, the occasional flirts were good but ... she felt the need for something more. But that seemed not be happening. So Adela decided to stop chasing men for a while and focus on her work. Maybe if she would stop the chase, some perfect man would just drop in her lap, like a Christmas present. Maybe.

And it did ... but not quite like she was expecting. And with more consequences that she thought she could handle. What seemed to be a one-night stand turned into an unexpected pregnancy and then into a rather unhappy marriage to Alexandre Vestier. She pretty much took care of the born child, Adrian, by herself, since the father was barely spotted around the household. Adela had managed in the end to finalize the divorce and she is now single and, more or less, looking ...

After a while, she stopped looking and focused on her job. At the end of 22 years of work for the Ministry, Adela decided to leave the institution and is currently being a private sports agent while continuing to raise Adrian with the help of her family.
