Biography

He had a place and he knew his station.

His family had been serving the Delacroix family for his whole life, and compared to the servants of other families they were treated decently well. Or so he was told from people who entered the service of the family from other places. Tutors were provided to children like him. Naturally not the same tutors as were provided to the members of the family, but all the same they were taken care of. Also there education was geared towards the jobs one would perform for the family. He held himself to that place, and had no ambitions to move beyond it. He figured one could be a servant of a family like the Delacroix or the servant of an employer or ministry. Of the options he knew the Delacroix family was the better position.

Just because he had a place didn’t mean he cared much to be bound by it.

He had never felt bound by his place. He knew there were places he was allowed and wasn’t allowed on the Delacroix property and typically kept to them unless he had a decent excuse. Excuses could be rather flimsy like the one when he was nine and his owl got lose inside the house and he just had to chase after it. Even worse it had landed on Cam’s head, which didn’t help him gain a good first impression from the young master Cam. Some how he had managed to overcome that and oddly became best friends with young Cam even if they were of different stations. It probably helped he had problems respecting his station when it came to talking to his friend. As it was simply too easy to take shots at Cam - his full name was Camille.

Stations could change

A few of years ago Cam requested him as his personal servant. He’d never wanted any of those servant jobs, preferring the idea of being in the kitchens as a chef better. However he did like hanging out with Cam, and one couldn’t refuse such a position and stay in the Delacroix household. It certainly did push him higher in the hierarchy of the household staff - especially since he refused to serve them as well.

Thankfully once he was put in the position it was more like hanging out with a friend than actual work. Except it required more work from the tutoring aspect as he was tossed in the room with Cam, and even with his friend being two years younger than him Cam was leagues ahead of him. Thankfully he wasn’t required to do any of the work as the focus was tutoring Cam, and his purpose in the room was to run errands if they were required so his friend didn’t have to be distracted by such things.

Places could change

The expectations and requirements for him were simple. He didn’t have to be smart or sophisticated. He just had to follow his friend about and be a useful servant, even if it oddly meant leaving everything he knew to go to London. He was a fish out of water, as except for work reasons he never had really left the Delacroix property. His social interactions were also similarly limited. He had no idea how things would work in London as it was just them. Apparently it was time for Cam to be educated beyond tutors, to network with other pureblood of his station. So that meant Hogwarts, and due to his age he could serve Cam there as well.

However what would happen to him after the next year was even more uncertain.
