Biography
“Mom?” She asked timidly. “Mom, wake up.” She said, more urgent now. She shook her head, tears forming in her eyes. Aea had been afraid this was coming. Mom had been sick for quite awhile and it seemed she had finally succumbed to the illness. The little girl shook her mom, trying desperately to wake the woman up. Frantic, she ran from the house and asked for help from the next person she saw.
“Help! My mom’s dead!” She cried, tears flowing freely now. She was only eight years old and now she was all alone. The passersby all stopped and looked with concern at the frantic little girl. Finally someone stepped in, made a phone call, and walked tiny Aea back into her home. The kindly woman got her a glass of water and rubbed her back while they waited for the police to come.
When they finally got there, they gently took her mom’s body away. Aea was placed with children’s services. Luckily the orphanage she went to arranged for her to be at her mum’s funeral. It was just a small service, Aea and a few of her mom’s work friends were there. They all patted her on the back and told her it would be okay.
It wasn’t okay.
Nothing was okay.
Her father had died before Aea was even born. And now her mother died too. She had no siblings, few friends and her mom only knew a handful of people. Aea was alone. All alone.
Years passed and the little girl grew into a pre-teen. When she was eleven, a mysterious person came to see her. They explained that Aea had magical powers and had been invited to hone those powers at a place called Hogwarts. Even though it felt like a joke, she was intrigued. She was interested because she had always been able to control things in a weird way with her mind. She didn’t know how she did it but she was able to do it. She somehow knew that this Hogwarts place was no lie. It was real.
And she was going to go.
Anything to get out of the orphanage. The director of the orphanage was delighted at the cover story of a long lost relative paying for private schooling. She went to Diagon Alley, assisted by the woman who’d come to change her world. They bought all kinds of things. Spell books, a wand, a cauldron. She was given a small amount of gold coins to get her through her schooling. It meant second hand books but it didn’t stop the girl from being excited.
