Summer Workshop Prompt #1
In a Land Far Far Away...

Who doesn't love a good story? For this prompt, we're lifting your character out of the Harry Potter universe and dumping them into a familiar fairy tale to see how they'd handle their new role!

Your Task

Write a piece in which your character is the protagonist in a classic fairytale. You can write as much or as little of the fairytale you like, whether that's just the beginning, just the middle, just the end...or all of it! You can choose any fairytale you like -- it's up to you whether you want to clarify what that fairytale is somewhere in your piece or whether you want to leave it up to your readers to take a guess. Think about your character's personality and how they might react if they found themselves faced with these well-known dilemmas. Would the story follow its original path, or would it take an unusual turn...?

As always with our workshops, there are no rules on word counts, formats, or anything else! Just make sure you stick to the site rules and rating at all times.

How do I start?
three simple steps

1. Start a new thread in the Summer Workshop forum. It should be called
Prompt 1: Title of Your Piece
2. Write your piece, following the prompt above.
3. Review the pieces of others (see How To Workshop).

I’ve got sunshine on a cloudy day
when it’s cold outside I’ve got the month of may
I’ve got so much honey the bees envy me
I’ve got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees
