Biography: (100 words minimum.)
In the center of a shelf in an all-pink room sat a shiny Third Place Pianist trophy. Third place was perhaps the most fitting way to describe Lainey Marano-Darcy. Third, both in birth order and in her parents’ eyes, Lainey learned that she would never be the best, smartest or prettiest, but that was okay with her as long as she still got to have shiny things and wear cute dresses.

While some kids might protest their middle-child status, Lainey wasn’t bothered. She had personality traits that lent themselves to the role well. As she grew older, she readily adopted the flag of peacekeeper between her brothers and sisters, and her easy-going attitude helped her avoid much of the bickering and sibling rivalry that came with being in the Marano-Darcy family.

Stuck with her head in the clouds, most would consider Lainey to be simple-minded, which was the fact that Elizabeth and Rafael detested. The giggling, playful blonde seemed to live in a world of her own, and loved to play games of make-believe. Only those closest to her would see a more inquisitive, studious Lainey, who loved to use big, “romantical” words, as she would call them, and wrote her own stories about lovely fairies and regal princesses. Sadly, the only person close enough to know this was Charlie, so Lainey was destined to be labeled as not-so-intelligent by everyone else.

But don’t let her sweetness fool you into thinking she’s permissive of those that would bring down her or her family. The Marano-Darcys are tight-knit, and Merlin help anyone who was mean, rude, or otherwise didn’t treat everyone in her family with the respect that pure-blood wizards and witches deserve. Those who didn’t think that her family was perfect were not worth her time, and they were sure to hear about it, and not in a friendly way.

Though being a Marano-Darcy had its challenges, there were many things Lainey loved about her status. She could have whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted it, and always had the prettiest dresses and most beautiful hair clips, necklaces, and bracelets to wear. She had a private tutor who was content to satisfy her hunger for even the most random knowledge, and would nurture and hone her writing skills like no other. Most importantly, their house was the biggest, most gorgeous house in all of Scotland. There was ample room for her to run and play, and the grounds contained an assortment of beautiful and unusual plants that Lainey could spend hours exploring.

The life of Lainey Marano-Darcy was about as perfect as she could imagine it. The only question was, would she ever have Elizabeth and Rafael Marano’s full attention and approval?

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

It was nice to see a clear blue sky for a change, but Lainey went to the park for the sole purpose of staring at the passing clouds. Of course, in her excitement, she hadn’t thought to check this fact before leaving Ashton House. Instead, she’d resigned to sit under the shade of a tree and draw figures in the dirt with a large stick she’d found.

The pictures were drawn as if to tell a story, and Lainey’s imagination was running wild, as it so often did. She didn’t notice the girl approaching her until she was barking at her. The harshness in the girl’s voice was drowned by Lainey’s excitement about the next few words she said. They were the most beautifulest words that Lainey ever heard, and she loved it the most when they were directed to her. Do you want to play?

“Yes, that would be charming!” she beamed at the girl, impressed by her use of a big word. A few seconds passed where she considered the stick for a moment, thinking hard, before she came up with an idea.

She held out the stick like a sword in her right hand and covered one eye with her left in her best impression of a pirate. “Ahoy, matey! We’re hunting for the buried treasure. Quick, take this sword, or the Kraken will have ye.” Giggling, she reached down to snap the stick in half, and tossed one of the pieces to the girl, hoping she would catch. She drew a simplistic map of Godric Park in the dirt with a gigantic X in the middle.

“There’ll be danger waiting for us at every turn.” She pointed to the fake sharks and booby traps she’d etched on the side of the map and feigned a horrified expression. “Which way should we go?”
