Biography: (300 words minimum.)

For the longest time, Apollo Undergrove’s life was one of luxury and expectation. His father, Ares Undergrove, was the head of one of the oldest pureblooded families in the United Kingdom and as such, there was very little that Apollo could not have. The entire world was at his fingertips and, young as he was, it became very clear early on that his influence would grow as far as the eye could see.

It was a spot of luck, then, that Apollo learned about responsibility early on in life, and had grown up with people around him that guided his every step in the right direction. For one, his father hadn’t been a callous man. Ares Undergrove’s influence had been matched only by his humility and willingness to heed the advice of those around him that knew more than him. The pureblooded family he’d been in charge of was a powerful one, but so much of its persona had been steeped in the outdated customs and biases that had kept other big names stuck in the old world. Ares’ life goal (or one of them, anyway) had always been to transform the Undergrove family into one that not only accepted but celebrated modern attitudes. Though he didn’t see this plan come to fruition before his death, he had left his son with the tools and attitudes needed to drag the Undergrove family into the twentieth century, boots and all.

Apollo’s father wasn’t the only good influence in the man’s life. At the tender age of eleven he met the woman who would become the love of his life. Both of them had been forced to attend a party for the rich and powerful, an event that would have bored Apollo to tears otherwise. A night that could have been one of derision and boredom was transformed by the presence of one very unlikely guest. Though both of them were barely more than children at the time, both of them found a kinship in the other that would become the foundation to their love in later years. Willow Dubois had a gentle pragmatism about her that Apollo absolutely adored and though he had been very aware that it would be prudent to remain friends for a time, he also realised that he was head over heels. It was a stroke of luck that Willow became the first Dubois to be sorted into Ravenclaw, because that meant that Apollo had all the time in the world to get to know the ins and outs of the woman that would one day be his wife. The two didn’t wait long to declare their love for each other, and Apollo asked Willow’s hand in marriage the moment the two of them were old enough.

Willow had been by his side ever since, acting as his rock when his father died and his biggest supporter when he was suddenly left in charge of the incredible responsibility of being the head to such a powerful family.

Apollo had never set out to be a trailblazer, but that was exactly what fate had had in store for him. All of those backward attitudes about blood superiority had been ingrained in his family for centuries, so ridding the Undergroves of it was no small feat. The problem was twofold: on the one hand there was the family, who had to come to terms with the fact that there were those of mixed and even muggle blood that were incredibly valuable to wizarding kind. Unfortunately the world at large had gotten used to the attitudes of the Undergroves and though his father had managed to do some damage control in that regard, Apollo knew there was still a long road ahead. The family went from strength to strength financially, but Apollo only ever saw it as a victory when everybody left the table feeling like they were equals. It was also a quality he ingrained in his own son from an early age. Atlas could be surly and aloof at times, but his principles had always matched Apollo’s own from the very start.
Though some of their days were tense, there was also laughter and sunshine: The family was incredibly close-knit, even by pureblood standards, and they remained supportive of each other every step of the way.

The last few years have been very kind to Apollo. Not only did he feel the satisfaction of seeing his father’s vision come to life through his own hard work and dogged determination, but he also saw his son Atlas grow into a young man of integrity. It was impossible to tell what the future held, but Apollo knew that with his family by his side, he’d make the most of it yet.

Roleplay Response:
“Merlin’s fog watch is right!” Apollo chuckled as he bent down, trying to free the poor woman’s heel even as he tried to keep people from knocking into her. It was a particularly busy day in Diagon Alley and though the steam of people was steady and slow, the odd straggler still managed to bump into the young woman as people weaved their way through the cobbled streets. The heel was jammed in tightly as well; it took Apollo two attempts to yank it free and after one look at it, he realised the heel would never fit a shoe properly again.

“I’m afraid your shoe is ready for the bin, Miss Dixon,” he said with a grimace as he handed her the broken heel. He’d caught her name while she was introducing herself to another passer-by and though Apollo didn’t really like journalists, this poor woman was in a spot of bother right now.

“Tell you what. Boots and Buckles are only a five minutes’ hobble away from here,” he said, offering the woman his arm as he gesturing in the direction of the shoe store. “Why don’t we go buy you another pair? My treat.”

He paused, shrugging as his eyes landed on the quill in her hand.

“You can’t possibly finish your work with just one shoe and that other heel is bound to get caught in a cobble too. What do you say?”
