SHOPKEEPER PERMIT
Shop name: Rosewright Books Shop Type: A bookshop. Location: On the border of Wizarding and Muggle London. Subforum? not yet!! Short Description (50 words max): Specializing in unusual and used books, with impressive sections dedicated to Divination, as well as Muggle instances of "Magick." Be sure to pet the cat. Long Description (200 words min): Quiet, well-stocked, and just off the beaten path, Rosewright Books is your destination if you're after a place to browse and explore: the books you find here are not your normal popular fare, and the shop requires exploration to be fully appreciated. The interior is windy and rambling, and seems to be much bigger inside than the shopfront would suggest, especially to any eagle-eyed Witch or Wizard who happens to stray into Muggle London. The shop boasts an impressive collection of rare books about unusual forms of Divination, as well as natural Muggle forms of "Magick," and encourages customers to to hole up and stay awhile by way of couches and armchairs, which can be found hidden in every room of the shop. If you're lucky, you'll catch a glimpse of Oscar, the skinny black shop cat, occupying one of these armchairs. What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun? A bookshop is a lovely place to run into friends by chance, have an adorable meet-cute, or find the elusive Mysterious Tome you've been searching for. It can also be a relaxing meeting-place for dates and reunions.

As for lore -- sorry to butt in -- here's a super nifty Article on site lore from our Wiki! It does cite Pottermore wand woods and meanings, but also includes exotic cores and other woods as well unique to this site. <3

Hey, Amancio! You're more than welcome to create your own pureblood family, but if you're interested in joining an existing family all you have to do is send a message to the creator of that family telling them you'd like to either adopt an existing unplayed character, or join using one of your creation. A list of our pureblood families can be found here. Some families have wiki informational pages, so if one name stands out to you, go read the family's wiki! Do be aware of the symbols however. The ◊ means that the family is open, and you are free to create as many members of this family as you wish. The ❖ includes an existing character's name, like @player, which means you must contact that player before creating a character from that family. Lastly, the ◆ means the family is closed and are not accepting new members-- do not use this surname without the express permission of the creator of that family. However just because they arent accepting new members doesn't necessarily mean they will eschew offers to play existing unplayed characters listed on the tree. It never hurts to send a PM. (: You can also check out our character classified board to see if any pureblood families have members they'd like to see played up for adoption. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Application for Hogwarts School
→ CHARACTER INFORMATION. Name: Dacian Felix Ellwood-Luxe
Birthday: 13 January 1971 1922
Hometown: Snowdon, Wales
Bloodline: Halfblood
Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning
Magical Weakness (pick one): Transfiguration
Year (pick two): Fifth, fourth
Biography:
London was a strange place, always alive and awake with passing voices, occasional passing motorcars, and eternally lit by streetlamps or the light of the sun.
Seven and a half months had gone by since he had seen the manor on the moor, fallen asleep to pristine silence and awoken to hesitant sunlight, creeping across his blankets and onto his face. It had taken Dacian some time to get used to blocking out city noises in order to fall asleep, even after the sleeping potions his father had offered him.
Seven and a half months.
A half-month after time had slipped from beneath their feet, Dacian's father finally found them a place to stay in Diagon Alley, overrun by now-homeless witches and wizards alike, gyrating to a greater motion, all in need of a safe bed with warm blankets, a hot meal, a good wash--
Dacian had held tight to his father's jacket like a child, so as not to get lost in a sea of people.
Had he been younger, he most certainly would have cried. Old resolutions seemed now so small: his fright of cousins, determination to live up to his own name. But it was that which bit the tears back, kept them at bay for just long enough to hold his breath and make a cup of tea: Ellwood-Luxes did not cry, and Dacian was at least half of such.
His name was all he had left in the world.
Seven and a half months, hadn't they left someone behind--?
It was a far-off dream, the image of the manor swimming back in the backs of his closed eyes, the figure of a woman, her arms reaching forward, trying to pull him back through time, a champagne glass falling through air and shattering upon polished wood--
The moor whispered to him as he slept, and in his dreams his mother still slept near to them, ran a soft hand from his temple to his cheek with a smile on her face, soft Welsh comforts floating from her lips.
His father had not allowed Dacian to return to Hogwarts for the second half of his fourth year, in best interest of his son's safety. What his father was afraid of, Dacian did not know, but he did not question it.
He was fifteen and he sat alone in an inn, nights following nights, his father returning from the Ministry with stories of scuffles and orphaned magical children, roaming the streets, avoiding authorities; Dacian could not imagine it.
And as winter bled into spring into summer, he ticked off days on the calendar until he might return to school, to something tangibly comfortable. August was at his feet before he could protest, and like a dream his letter found him.
He would return.
→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.House Request: Hufflepuff - He's been a a played character since he was a first year, and was sorted originally as such.
Personality: Dacian is quiet and very introspective, a gentle sort of soul. Because of his somewhat isolated upbringing, his people skills are very far from perfect; however he retains a spark which drives him to the desire to prove himself in the eyes of his Ellwood-Luxe relatives, especially the ones who shunned him when he first came to Hogwarts. While Dacian can be characterised as meek, he is by no means a weak person emotionally.
Appearance: Historically very small for his age, Dacian has since rather grown into himself. Almost. He's tall, but lanky and very thin, with hardly any muscle at all to speak of. The hair on his head is mousy and fine, a medium chestnut brown in colour. His cheeks are recently rid of baby fat and defined by the high cheekbones of his father's family. But possibly the most striking thing about Dacian's otherwise rather ordinary appearance are his eyes: a cold and deep ice blue.
→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.Quidditch had never been a special interest of Dacian's, so he paid very little attention to it.
There had been the instance where some upperclassman had coaxed him into joining when he was a first or second year, on account of his small stature and frame, claiming that Dacian was "perfect Seeker material--"
But Merlin knew how long that lasted, because he had been terrible on the pitch.
The Great Hall was in an uproar and Dacian knew why only at a peripheral level, ignoring with great proclivity the shouting match going on between a Slytherin girl and her Ravenclaw counterpart, and he slid from his seat at his table and began to slink from the noise, heading for the door to a blissful silence.
He walked for awhile in happy quiet, in the footsteps of a boy no doubt heading for his own common room. Dacian was preoccupied by his own thoughts when they were interrupted rather violently, the boy spinning around to shout at him, in quite close proximity to his face.
"WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"
Dacian spluttered, unable to find words to respond. So, began to do what first popped into his mind, the safest thing he could think to do: apologise profusely.
"I-- I'm sorry? I'm sorry! What have I--? I'm sorry!"
He paused, staring very blankly.
"Are you, er-- Are you all right?"
