Name: Audrey Campbell

Birthday: 28 August 1940

Hometown: Edinburgh, Scotland

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): Fifth, Sixth

Biography:

Audrey was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was born to a wizard father, Peter Campbell, and a muggle mother, Annie. Her mother had been married previously, however her husband, who was also a muggle, had died in an accident shortly after she had Audrey's older brother, William, four years before Audrey was born. William became her best friend. He was always patient with his sister despite how annoying she could be sometimes. Her father was a Ravenclaw in his time at Hogwarts, then becoming a Healer. Her mother, like most other muggle mothers, was a housewife. She grew up in a house big enough for the four of them in a neighborhood called Duddingston.

Audrey had a happy childhood, enjoying the mix of both wizarding and muggle fun. William was excited to have a witch for a sister and wizard for a step-father, so there were many occasions the young boy almost spilled the family secret to his friends. Keeping a huge part of their life a secret was rather difficult for Audrey. She hated lying to her friends. Before Hogwarts, she spent her days following in the footsteps of William. While she still liked the typical girl things, she also loved running around outside and getting dirty. She would often follow her brother on "adventures", which usually included hiking up Arthur's Seat or running on the beach in Portobello or through Holyrood Park.

Getting her acceptance letter to Hogwarts was met with both excitement and heartbreak. She had been waiting for this moment since her father told her about Hogwarts, but she never considered how it would feel to leave her friends and her family, especially William, behind. She spent her first night crying and wanting to go home, but it didn't take that long to settle in. Distance truly makes the heart grow fonder, so she couldn't wait to tell her brother all about what she was learning at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, over the years she began to drift from her childhood friends as they made new friends and moved on. Audrey understood, but it always made her a bit sad when she would run into them spending time together when she was home on holiday.

She stands out a bit for doing things, like setting her hair in pin curls, the muggle way. She also preferred muggle fashion. Since her mother was a muggle, she never had anyone to teach her wizarding fashion and beauty tips. Despite being at Hogwarts with other girls who know these things, she likes to keep the muggle way of things as a reminder of home (not to mention she didn't want to suffer through a learning period with bad hair).

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality:
Audrey is confident and up for adventure. She was always trying to keep up with her older brother and his friends. While William was patient with her, his friends weren't always. She had to learn to be confident and ignore their teasing. While it wasn't fun for her, it taught her how to stand up for herself and what she believes in. While she loves going on adventures with the boys, she still is very much a typical girl. She is interested in clothes, makeup, and when she was old enough, boys. She likes to wind her friends and family up by pushing their buttons. Sometimes she takes things too far, which can upset people.

Because Audrey had to lie to her childhood friends for so long, she can find it hard to open up to someone. To feel comfortable trusting someone, it takes some effort, but once the trust is there, she trusts deeply. She doesn't care about blood status, only caring about whether someone is a good person and a good friend. She tends to speak before thinking, which has the potential for hurting those around her. It has definitely gotten her into some trouble in the past. She can be stubborn when it comes to how she feels, but she hates when people are hurt because of her. She stands by her beliefs, even if they aren't popular ones.

Appearance:
Audrey is tall and thin, standing at 5'8 which makes her a bit lanky. She feels a bit uncomfortable being a tall girl, so she avoids wearing heels unless necessary. She has sandy blonde hair, which is naturally wavy. However, like most girls, she has it styled into pin curls. She has thick eyebrows and brown eyes. She tries to keep up with her appearance, because she likes feeling good. Her skin is fair. In the summer she doesn't really tan, she just burns. However, the sun brings out her freckles, which she likes.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Response:

Audrey was wandering the dungeons, making her way back to her common room. She pulled her robes tighter around her to keep out the damp chill of the dungeons. It was dark and claustrophobic, so Audrey preferred not spending time down here unless it was necessary. The smell from centuries of potions class made her nose wrinkle. Her strides were long and quick, so she could get back to her warm and comfortable common room sooner rather than later. However, the voice of a young girl made her stop in her tracks. She continued on, rounding the corner to see the owner of the voice.

The girl was visibly terrified, so Audrey approached slowly. She didn't seem like someone seeking out Emma Birch out of her own volition.

"I don't think you'll find Emma Birch here. It's a bit earlier than she likes to come out. I don't really recommend it either, she's not the nicest ghost in the castle," Audrey explained, bending down a bit, so she was at eye level with the girl, a Gryffindor based on her robes. Audrey herself has had an encounter or two with Emma in her time at Hogwarts. Maybe it was just her, but she didn't find Emma to be all that nice. Not that Audrey could blame her, dying at sixteen with your whole life ahead of you was pretty awful. Audrey would be angry too.

"How about we leave the dungeons. We can just say you met Emma. I'll vouch for you. It was very brave of you to come down here," she stated. She didn't want this girl to find trouble with whoever sent her down here. Audrey assumed it was a dare or some sort of cruel joke because the girl was clearly terrified. It wasn't likely that she wanted to come down here on her own, just for fun.

"I'm Audrey Campbell, by the way. And you are?" she asked, waiting for the girl to respond before she would resume her trip. She straightened up and motioned for the girl to follow her.

Hi Audrey, welcome to the site!

Your application looks great, there's just one small bit that we'll need you to edit before we can get you accepted.

In your RP sample, you write:

This implies that Emma is a real ghost at the castle -- whilst it's true that she did die, the character never actually became a Hogwarts ghost (in the RP sample, Evangeline is acting on a dare/rumour). Whilst you're welcome for Audrey to pretend that the ghost exists (e.g. to frighten Evangeline/continue to fuel rumours), you'll need to edit out the parts that say she's had an encounter with Emma, as this would be impossible.

Once you've made the required change, please repost your entire revised application below, and we'll be more than happy to take another look. Thanks!
