DivinationBiography:
Matthias grew up like any ordinary muggle in a small town that had never heard let along believed in magic other than illusionists at carnivals. At least that is what he and his parents believed until strange things started to happen. At first the Knight's shrugged it off as odd coincidences, and often didn't even realize that Matthias was even involved with the incident. Things like his mother's hair standing straight up like she had stuck her finger in light socket after she had harshly criticized Matthias for hanging out with his friends rather than doing his homework. After a while the Knight's began to wonder if just maybe somehow Matthias was indeed doing all these strange and sometimes wonderful things. Never once did the family think that it was in fact magic that was causing all these weird happenings. That was until a letter arrived addressed to Matthias. The delivery method of the letter was weird to the Knights to say the least, an owl, but it really caught them off guard when the letter opened almost automatically, "Your son shows potential of being able to use magic. With proper training and guidance your son could be a truly amazing wizard in time.". The letter was signed anonymously as a friendly neighbor. The letter gave the Knights details on how to contact Hogwarts and arrange for a test on Matthias ability in the use of magic and his training.
The Knights looked at each other in awe for a moment unable to decide what to do. Their son did indeed do weird things that were unexplainable, the letter arrived by an owl, and the invisible voice reading the text printed on the letter all made the Knights think it could be plausible. Still they hesitated for a few days before contacting Hogwarts. Eventually it was proven that Matthias was actually able to use magic and that he would indeed go to Hogwarts for formal training and eventually become a wizard. The Knights were thrilled though for obvious reasons of caution they kept this news to themselves.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONCharacter is adopted, but would prefer the specifics to remain a secret until later. Willing to share with admin if necessary, but in order to play it out would prefer to not post further details.Personality:
Matthias is very friendly and was brought up with very strong beliefs of right and wrong. He can always be counted on to stick up for friends, but prefers to avoid violence whenever possible. He is very outgoing and likes to take part in many sports.Appearance:
Short wavy brown hair cut short quite often not combed and messy. He stands at about 5'10 though if he had his way he would be closer to 6'. Despite being active in sports his body weight is on the low side because of a high metabolism. He has a dreamy smile that often times can get his way although with his upbringing he doesn't use it too often, or at least not all the time.SAMPLE ROLEPLAYYou come across one of these three posts on the site. Please reply to one only as your character would.
*** Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not James' or Astrid's. Option I:Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.
'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'
Stupid Quidditch.
James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn'tdeserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.
Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.
As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'
It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"
Sample Roleplay Response:
Matthias came around the corner and was almost knocked over with surprise by James' outburst. He knew the guy of course everyone knew him, but Matthias didn't know him well or at least well enough to strike up a conversation still he was mildly annoyed for almost being knocked on his butt. Flashing a grin he turned to face James head on before answering the question.
"I would take a picture, but unfortunately I don't have a camera on me." His smile became a grin as he tried to control himself and not burst out laughing. Matthias had seen the poor guy's folly during the quiditch match and he probably would have been similarly miserable if the situation was reversed. "You might want to cheer up though because you never know the next guy might have a camera."
Matthias walked away from James and turned a corner. When he was far enough away from where he thought James would hear him he let out a small barely audible laugh. He hadn't meant to be so cheeky with James, but he couldn't resist throwing out the comment. Matthias wondered how the comment would be taken. He hoped it had put a smile on James' face. Sure the school would talk about James for a week or two, but then summer break would hit and it would all be forgotten during the summer. Matthias hoped for James' sake that it would be forgotten something like that could haunt someone for life and given this was the magical world maybe even after death as well.
