Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Jacklyn Beanstalk

Birthday: June 1st, 1961

Hometown: Pitlochry, Scotland

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one): Charms

Year (pick two): First Year / Second Year

Biography:

Once upon a time,

During the medieval times In the beautiful highlands of Scotland, there lived a family known for their cunning, sneakiness, and bravery throughout the wizarding world. A family nestled in a manor with a long beanstalk that every child in the family would climb. While they did start from more humbling backgrounds known for selling o’l legumes - they soon began a new successful trade of stealing from Giants & Trolls. However that all changed one infamous day - and the once proud Beanstalk family, became one of cowardice, prejudice, and preservation.

Named after the boy who slew Bran the Bloodthirsty - Jacklyn Beanstalk was the 2nd youngest of the Beanstalk family. At a young age, Jacklyn had all the benefits and privileges that a Pureblood family would have as she’d always have the best of everything and was very sheltered. Sure she never got the youngest sibling treatment, but there were always perks to being the second youngest of six.

Her first instance of magic, was when she was in the Beanstalk Garden where her siblings were plucking and growing beans. While there wasn’t any thing crazy that happened in her life, that was all about to change on the night before she went to summer camp…

On that day, Jacklyn’s mother decided to sit Jacklyn down on the hearth of the fireplace to tell her about the family story and what happened on that infamous day. The way she opened the old book as she spun tales of what happened on that fateful day haunted Jacklyn to this very day. The way her mother told the tales, you could’ve sworn she was there herself! And a quote she will always remember… “The invisible cloak he once had was nothing more than a napkin for a Giant’s meal! And was never seen again. The End!”

With the storytime tradition finished,  Jacklyn’s mother made her promise to never try to meet,  steal, or anger a giant - and for Jacklyn, more importantly to never - EVER go into the Forbidden Forrest under ANY circumstances.

And on that night - she slept happily never after.

The End!

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Surprise me!

Personality: Naive, free-spirited, and overly emotional tween-like attitude, this first year is truly a Jacklyn-Of-All-Trades! Being raised in privilege in a large Pureblood family, which consequentially, makes her come across as spoiled, pompous, and arrogant. While her parents and grandparents would spoil her, one downside was being the youngest in the Beanstalk family. This, came with teasing, pranks, and sometimes being used to help prank her other sibling! Due to her upbringing, Jacklyn is rather gullible and believes anything anyone says without question.

Like anyone her age, the idea of "fitting in" is essential to Jacklyn, and with that comes the susceptibility to be peer-pressured by her friends or by people generally older than her. She enjoys causing fun mischief (like taking things that aren’t hers), eating sweets, spending time with the family cats, and most importantly socializing with her friends.

If Maturity was a subject she would be graded a "T", and could be seen as more of an opportunist especially when it comes to anything competitive. For Jacklyn, losing is never an option if she needs to cheat to win or worse, call other people cheaters... well - all is fair in love and war! A common feature of all Beanstalks is their fear and disdain for Trolls, Giants & Half-Giants due to the death of one of their descendants.

Appearance: Frizzy brown hair that cascades down her back, and fluffy bangs that cover her bushy brows. Jacklyn has bright green eyes and clunky circular glasses perched comfortably on the bridge of her nose. She’d have a rather clean complexion. Her build would be best described as skinny like a featherless quill, her fingernails are neatly bitten, and wears typical fashion outfits from Witches Weekly in the 70s.

You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet traveled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay Response:

Oh the Hogwarts Dungeon, a place her older siblings told her was just as scary as the Forbidden Forrest. Rumors and stereotypes loomed of the horrors of this place and while the cold damp dungeons did give Jacklyn the heebie-jeebies they seemed more like spooky o'l fairy tales than truth.

While most students her age are probably studying, relaxing, or going about their day, Jacklyn was hidden behind a marble pillar, scheming her ultimate diabolical plan. Her last couple of attempts at this prank were utter failures, with outcomes being no more than eye rolls, pitiful sighs, and teasing laughs. However, even with all these failures, she was gonna give up.

As time passed it seemed like foot traffic was slowing down and the uncomfortable worry of Prefects crept into the first-years mind like a student who forgot their homework! But just as she was about to leave her spot, the sound of shoes clicking on the cold stone seemed to echo throughout the early dungeon.

"H-h-hello?"

With her hand pressed against her lips, Jacklyn held a muffled chortle. Everything just felt oh so perfect. Was it childish to be hiding to scare her, sure. Could she lose house points or even worse, get a detention? Absolutely! But was the Beanstalk lass going to have this opportunity of scaring someone taken away from her? Not a chance!

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

That's her queue!

Leaping from behind the marble pillar with a loud stomp, the first-year girl puts her hands out; her lips and eyes twist into the biggest mean look before doing the unthinkable. "BBBBOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" She squeaks at the top of her lungs, her voice echoing through the damp cobblestone walls, her hands out wide to try and make her small frame look big like a mean giant in an attempt to scare her classmate!
