Hogwarts School: A Harry Potter RPG

Sooo I have this thread with Lila Cimorelli here which mentions a sort of big sibling program for magical orphans and I was wondering if that was okay? If so, could we turn that into a thing were characters can sign up for it?

... Yeah, is it bad that I've just found out that you roleplay Quidditch?

Ruby's in Hufflepuff, and is it too late to sign her up? Or do you do that cannon thing where only second years can play? It's cool, anyway, I can always start next term... which starts in January, right?

So, hi! I love the sight and I think I've figured out most of it... but I still need a bit help.

The timewrap. I think I've got this down, but, would it be okay for one of my characters to notice, or even be suspicious of the fact that all the muggle-borns and halfbloods they know's muggle friends/family went away around the same time? And maybe they could come up with a theory about it?

Classes. So, does your character going to the next year have to do with your overall post count in general, or how many classes you pass?

Time. I understand that time works differently in-character here, and I wanted to know if there was anyway we could tell, at least, what month it was? Like a clock or something among those lines?

Biography:
Ruby's parents, Mikayla Hill-Lazuli and Ricardo Lazuli were born and raised in Ireland, and had a fierce love for the place they lived. They were childhood friends who started dating when they got older. They were young, had just barely finished college (Ricardo for law and Mikayla for teaching), when they found out they were pregnant with their first child, Ruby's big sister, Esmeralda, who is five years older than Ruby. They rushed to get married and moved into a normal-sized house in Ireland, with an young beagle named Paris, that died when Ruby was five.

They had two other children, Lilac (three years older than Ruby) and Daniel (one year older), before they finally had their last child, Ruby. Ruby loved all her family members, especially Lilac, but even they occaisonally had a fight, which her mother called a "sibling splat." Her parents worked hard to make sure they grew up in a warm environment, and got good grades because they wanted them to succeed in life. Ruby didn't care much for school, which frustrated her father, but she loved her parents. Ruby, though she didn't get the best grades, liked going to school because she had lots of friends.

When Ruby was nine, her parents had a big fight and her father left them. The children were crushed, and her mother was unsure if she could handle it. After Ruby was born, she had stopped working and became a stay at home mom. But, she moved the family over to a much smaller house in London, England (Ruby had to share a tiny room with Lilac) and she eventually got some work. Ruby wasn't absolutely sure what had happened, but she was proud of her mother.

Ruby's sisters and brothers were insanely jealous when they found out Ruby was going to Hogwarts and not them. Her mother was worried about leaving her on her own. But, Ruby was excited to go there- it sounded really interesting.

Personality:
Ruby is outgoing and cheerful, and loves to make new friends. She has a really short attention span, she finds herself distracted easily. Most of the time, she is either daydreaming or chatting to someone else- Ruby finds herself talking a lot more than she should. Ruby might be considered bold, but she is actually reckless- she doesn't think about the consequences of her actions often. Ruby is easygoing to the point someone might think she is lazy. Though Ruby is normally nice to others, when someone else says something offensive she isn't afraid of firing an insult back. And, yes, Ruby may not be the best friend at times -she has a habit of forgetting things often- if you have patience and faith in her, she is loyal to no end. Ruby is an extremely curious child, she has a habit of subconsciously butting into other people's business. She is scared of lightning (thunder's okay, and rain is great, but lightning is a no-go) and spiders. She likes the color pink, drawing, singing, dancing (even though she dances horribly) and rain. She hates the heat and prefers it to be cold. She finds it incredibly hard to stay still, she's always moving.

Appearance:
Ruby is a bit tall for her age, a trait granted from her mother, but not too much, because of her kind of short father. She normally has a distracted smile on her face because her head is in the clouds. Her skin is tanned, with freckles dotting her face and arms. Her eyes are dark brown, sometimes appearing gold or black in some lighting, framed by pink-rimmed glasses. She has very soft, delicate features and a heart-shaped face. One of her eyebrows always stays higher than the other, giving her a constantly quizzical look. She has curly light brown hair, cut unevenly at her shoulders by her mother. It is normally but in a braid because, most of the time, it is really wild.

Option 2:

Ruby didn't know what she was doing or exactly where she was going, only that she wanted to get there quick- AFAP, which stood for as Fast As Possible in Esmeralda Speak. Esmeralda was Ruby's teenaged muggle sibling, and had made up her own lingo, which often left the young girl baffled, so she had branded it as an entirely different language.

She had just finished her breakfast before most- Ruby had a way of eating messily and quickly, which often left her hungrier afterwards and tended to annoy some of the people around her, but it was the only way she knew how. So, Ruby, in her normal "I-just-want-to-bounce-around-and-have-fun" way, she scattered clumsily down the halls as fast as she could without running and threw open the doors, breathing in a breath of fresh air.

Noticing flowers, she knelt and sniffed one, and that was when the wonderfully strange things started to happen. A boy, older than her, she believed, zoomed past her, sneezing. She heard him scream something- she thought he was calling her a rat. Ruby didn't like that very much, of course. But her curiosity (she was such a curious little thing that Esmeralda had a habit of calling her nosy) outweighed her anger, so she hopped to her feet and craned her neck to watch him.

He kept moving until he was almost out of her sight, so Ruby pushed her glasses higher upon her nose and ran after him. She watched with mild interest and concern. He started to sneeze and wipe his nose, and then he adressed her.

Ruby barely noticed that he seemed a bit haughty, perhaps because his voice was thick with what she supposed was snot. With a giggle, she imagined a huge snot monster coming out of his nose. Now that he knew she was watching, she dashed all the way over to him, brown curls flying, and said, "Hi, I'm Ruby. Bless you. Can I help you though? You seem to need it much more than I do at the moment."
