Biography: She was born nameless and out on the streets of Salem in the year 1933. Her mother, a street urchin as well, died in childbirth, and the baby was picked up by an orphanage called the Mira Star House. The girl was raised there for the first few years of her life, since no one seemed to want to adopt a child who could not yet work for his or her place at the table. Eventually, the orphanage workers dubbed her Mirabelle, after the beautiful star that represented the orphanage itself. Mirabelle continued to live there until she was five years of age, when a circus rolled into town.
During the time when the Mira Star House considered keeping the orphan girl as permanent family, Mirabelle ran away to the circus to join a life on the road. Just in time too, since the Mira Star House soon ran out of funding and had to be shut down in the following year. Mira had no way of knowing this, since she was already gone.
Mirabelle now had a hard but pleasant life among the colorful group, befriending the ringleader and a young magician (a seventeen-year-old wizard who had quit Hogwarts in his fourth year) named Beowulf, working and learning. She had no special skill then (blaming all "coincidence" on luck) and worked as a cook. When Mira was nine, a group of performers attempted to show her how to swallow a sword out of desperation, and Mira ended up slicing her throat open. Beowulf healed her as much as he could with the little knowledge he had. He saved her life, but Mira could no longer speak anything understandable and suffers pains every once in a while.
She became Beowulf's assistant by order of the ringmaster, and learned that she had an uncanny knack for the tricks and causing unexplainable occurrences that drew in larger crowds.
At age eleven, and owl delivered her a letter. Beowulf contracted a disease. Mirabelle ignored the invitation and continued their acts, but she kept the letter.
At age twelve, Mirabelle became the main attraction–the mute young magician who could do incredible feats. Beowulf's condition continued to worsen and the other performers were busy with teaching their apprentices, and the circus was temporarily reduced to a few acts. In order to find a remedy for Beowulf, Mira set off to go find that magic school.
→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.House Request: It wouldn't bother her too much, but Mira would like to be placed in Slytherin over any other house, mostly because then she'd be left to herself.
Personality: Introverted and socially awkward. She can't speak legibly so she has a hard time communicating with strangers. Which, unfortunately, is everybody. Mira often comes off as rude or cold because of her disability as well. She also has a strong sense of loneliness (having only befriended a handful of people her entire life) and tends to choose herself over all others.
Beowulf earned her loyalty. She won't turn her back on him.
Appearance: Mira has shoulder-length dark brown hair that the ringleader often described as chocolate and large, muted, golden-brown eyes.
