SHOPKEEPER PERMIT
You must have applied as an Elsewhere character before completing this permit.

Shop name: Smuggler's Cove Antiquities
Shop Type: Antique Shop
Location: Diagon Alley
Subforum? Yes!

Short Description (50 words max): A simple antiquities shop up front, with a password you'll find a fencing operation for smuggled/stolen goods.
Long Description (200 words min): Smuggler's Cove is set at the end of Diagon Alley, almost teetering on the boarder of there and Knockturn Alley. Instead of traditional red brick the builder had opted for imported caliza capri limestone facade from Spain. Soft purple wisteria climbs the buildings front, wrapping around the windows and doors until the vine slowly tapers off once it nears the roof or another shop. A wrought iron and black marble sign hangs above the door with the words Smuggler's Cove. Gold paint makes the letters pop against it's background. And the black of the marble matches the black of the window panes and door.

A sprawling stair case leads you to the black double doors that are accompanied by two big windows on either side. During the day one can see through the windows and into the shop. Once you enter the shop light touches every single corner of the place. Glass cases outline the room and house the most expensive things in the shop. Tables of stuff crowd the open area of the shop. Tables full of things from all over the world, collected by Poseidon himself. A huge chandelier hangs in the center of the high vaulted ceiling.

In the back behind closed doors one would find stairs leading to the top two floors one being Poseidon's office and then above that his flat that remains mostly empty and through another door you would find stairs leading down to the storage room, however the door won't appear for you unless you know a secret phrase.

Poseidon's office is grand and takes up the entire second floor of the building. Cherry wood interior and grand furniture call this place home. There's even a fire place in the center of the floor. It's only lit in the winter time, but it keeps things nice and toasty up there.

What purpose will this shop serve other than selling things and being the home of your character? Why would people want to RP there just for fun? This would be a fun spot to RP because there's no telling what one might find there. Poseidon has a knack for flair and loves just about everyone and has everything from ancient children's toys to victorian dresses, but there's also the fact that the business is actually a fencing operation so there's also capabilities for Auror's and such to thread here.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

Character name: Poseidon St Oswald

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Circe Blackwood, Rosie Blackwood,
Margaux Hartley

Character age: 30

Character education: Hogwarts ‘37

Strength and weaknesses (details please):

Sei’s strength lies in charms. He traveled the world searching for magical artifacts so that
involved breaking some curses and such so it was very heavily involved with charms. It wasn’t
very involved with conjuring and summoning though, which is his weakness, he was not skilled
at it in school and didn’t excel at it afterwards either. He would much rather go out and find stuff
instead of just conjuring it up with no problem. His biggest strength lies in his knowledge of the
past, which doesn’t really have to do with the present magic, but since he traveled looking for
artifacts he had always found a fascination in the history of magic.

Physical description:

Tall, very broad and in shape. He has a smile that could stop hearts and a full hair of golden
brown hair. Sometimes he gets little whispies on his chin, but most of the time he’s clean
shaven. Obviously the better looking St Oswald.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.):

He is an absolute sweetheart. He smiles even when things are bad and doesn’t like it when
people are debbie downers. He’s also quite eccentric and likes odd things like flying carpets. He
makes things fun and likes to live on the edge. He’s also very smart, but he doesn’t like to be
arrogant about it. He believes that ignorance can be taught and that nobody is truly stupid.
Anybody can learn if they choose to do so. He believes that if something is taught in the right
way it would impact someone on a more personal level instead of a general level making the
knowledge more personal.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?:

Ever since Sei was a little boy his grandfather would take him into the archives under one of the
many St Oswald estates and show him many artifacts that the family had collected throughout
the years. Taught him about the world around them and the many possibilities that could
happen, mostly good opportunities. Sei wants to make his mark on the world in a positive
manner, and now that he is going to be an uncle he would like to stick around more instead of
globe trotting. He hopes to share his dream for history with the youth because he thinks
everybody should know their past.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):

Poseidon was born into The Most Ancient and Noble House of St. Oswald (as his brother referred to them. To Sei they
were just family). He was born into the richness but, as the younger twin he had very little of the actual responsibility.
Which was just fine for him. He had money. He had power. He had good looks. He had it all. If he wasn’t the first heir
to the family, he was just fine with it. Hermes could handle the politics and all that came along with it. Well he was
fine with it until he started getting older. When he started realizing the favoritism everybody showed his brother it
started weighing on him, the emotions being hidden deep down.

He was born second to his twin, Hermes, by ten minutes. Born the runt of the two boys he was never the golden boy.
He never would be either. While Hermes spent time with their father and grandfather learning how to take care of the
family and all that came with it. Instead he spent time with his mother, reading books of tales and treasures beyond
his reach.

He didn’t have the family pride his brother possessed, but he was never to proud to use the family name to his
advantage. Be it for job opportunities, for personal gain, or for more… carnal desires. He merely had to say his name
and whatever he wished for would come flocking in. His brother viewed this as reckless, but why should he care? He
wasn't much for giving his brother every little thing he wanted just like everybody else had, even though he loved his
brother more than anyone. He was his twin after all, his other half.

As he left Hogwarts he soon picked up an unorthodox job travelling the world hunting down magical artifacts and
muggle artifacts that seemed to be cursed. Studying them. Learning how to use them in order to better understand
the world they live in before they get locked away in the penthouses of his wealthy clients from across the globe.. He
knew the answers to mysteries only a handful of people are capable of finding out.

He was never worried about remaining in trouble for long, no matter how much trouble he tended to stir up. At the
end of the day, he knew his family would help him out of sticky situations and he would walk away from
repercussions.
Sure, he was spoiled and never saw limits in his entitlement. But why should he be bound by limits? He was Poseidon
Armando William St. Oswald. What wasn’t at his fingertips?

On his last trip home he had run into his brother, receiving grave news that his father and grandfather were both
dying from dragon pox. In order to keep his family together he sacrificed his passion in order to be there for his twin
brother who had just inherited the entire estate. Sure Sei was jealous, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want his brother
to succeed, even though he thinks his brother hates him. All in all he just wants to be excepted by his family, but that
is something he fears will never happen.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters'
reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most
intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the
Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.
In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had

always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored
neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was
supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even
during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was
only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good
impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened,
Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Poseidon was running late. He wouldn’t have been late if his dog didn’t tear up his
recommendation letter. Think about it, applying for a professor position and telling the person
doing the interview that the dog ate the letter. Professor’s didn’t even believe students when
they would say such things. So he spent time taping it back together as fast as he could, luckily
the dog didn’t swallow any of the pieces.
He ran through the halls like a mad man trying to get to her office on time, he also knew exactly
where it was. He had last been there more than a decade ago, but he was in the office often. It
was safe to say he had been a prankster. It was all behind him though.. Or at least for the
interview it was all behind him. He was mostly good, but he could have his moments of
maniacal, harmless fun.

“I’m here!” He said in exasperation as he ran through the door, out of breath. The lady behind
the desk did not look pleased. She looked quite cold actually. It made a slight chill creep up his
spine at the site of the woman’s eyes. Poseidon wasn’t scared of anything or so he thought up
until that moment.

"You are late."

“I’m sorry, mam.” He said as he took a seat in front of the woman’s desk, forcing a smile upon
his face. Nervous was the last thing he wanted to come off as. “I would tell you what happened,
but it might just seem like an excuse and I don’t want to give you any excuses.” He said as he
pulled out the taped together letter and laid it in front of the woman. It looked pretty scrappy, but
it was all he had at the moment.

“Poseidon St. Oswald. Pleasure to meet you.” He didn’t really know where to go from there so
he waited for the icey woman to either kick him out of her office or to ask him some questions.
Either way, it would be destiny.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Poseidon slipped through the crowd easily blending in with the witches and wizards of the day. He was on his way back to the ministry to report his findings when he heard a girl calling out. A womanly voice that obviously needed help. In his travels he encountered many women. Some he saved, some he just met out of mere coincidence.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!”

He was all about saving a damsel in distress. Wading through the crowd he finally spotted the woman, who was of a subtle beauty. Walking towards her, his mouth turned up into a warm smile. He scooped her up into his broad arms. "Where shall I take you miss?" He said happily as he did his civic duty.

"I'm Sei." He said as he kept walking with the girl in his arms, as if he had nowhere else to be. His boss was used to being late, if he wasn't good at his job he probably would have lost it years ago. Granted it was hard to fire a St Oswald even if he was bad at his job. The hands of the family were just out of reach of the Gods.

He finally stopped at a little pastry shop about a block down where he had found the woman. It was one of his favorite spots in the city. He didn't really care for London. He much preferred the Chateaus of his family or the ruins of ancient temples where his ancestors might have stayed. His family history only goes back to a certain time, but he was more interested in before texts were written.

"Why don't you wait here and I'll go fetch us some tea?" He said graciously as he walked inside of the little shop. Then he noticed a lady with a pair of shoes that had to be about the same size as the girl he had just saved from being trampled. He offered the woman 30 galleons for the shoes, even though they were probably worth half that. Money really wasn't an object to him though. He then wrangled up some tea and went back to the girl.

"Here you go. I hope these fit." He said as he sat the shoes, and the tea on the table. He smiled as he sat down opposite of the woman.
