Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Rowan Bartholomew Foxglove was born to Orson and his second wife, Cara, on an unusually clear night in November. Though the boy arrived an entire week early the birth was a calm affair, with several Manx locals joining in the celebrations as Orson welcomed his eldest son into the world. When morning broke Cara drifted into a peaceful sleep as Orson’s eldest daughter kept an eye on the new arrival.

By the time he was a toddler Rowan Bartholomew had made way for Robbie, courtesy of his older sister Willow. Once she started calling him the shortened version, the rest of the family simply followed suit. In those early days she doted on the little boy, allowing him to be her constant companion. Though she had been an only child for so long, she didn’t seem to mind sharing the limelight with her dark-eyed brother. Despite having different mothers they were so alike, making it very easy for her to let Robbie into her heart.

It was two years before Cara fell pregnant again. Alder was also born in the spacious country house, though Orson insisted on accompanying both mother and child to Onchen for observation shortly after. The birth had left Cara dangerously anaemic, a condition that finally claimed her life just over a year later as she gave birth to Holly, the final member of the Foxglove family.

Though Orson was suddenly alone in taking care of four children, he remained strong. For years after, he was both father and mother to the brood. He earned enough to keep the roof over their heads and left the day-to-day chores to the housekeeper. By this time Willow had completed her NEWTs and though she passed comfortably, she chose to return to the Isle of Man rather than continue with her studies in London. Robbie grew into a fun-loving boy that never tired of the enchantments the island held. Though he remained very close with Willow, he also became fiercely protective of his younger siblings. He always tried to be a source of laughter rather than worry and for some time, the close-knit family managed to keep the tears at bay.

It was only when Orson perished in a felling accident that Robbie’s laughter dried up. Suddenly the four children were not only alone, but also in real danger of being split up. For three months, Willow managed to hold things together, acting as legal guardian with the help of an SRC care worker. In the end the burdens of adulthood became too heavy for her young shoulders. When Holly fell ill, the three younger children were relocated to the Children’s Home in Hogsmeade. Willow found a job in London, once again with the aid of the SRC and managed to secure a small apartment in Hogsmeade where she could stay during visits.

Though it was a big adjustment, Robbie settled as happily as he possibly could. With both Alder and Holly within shouting distance and a visit from Willow due any day now, he knew life could be a lot worse.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:

Visiting the Park was always a treat, especially when it was dry out. Robbie knew very well to savour these lazy days in the sun as best he could, because it was bound to rain sooner or later. Today, he was content with lying on his back, just watching the clouds pass high above him. Usually he’d hate doing something so boring, but every now and then a broomstick zipped overhead, which was a novelty. Even when he still lived at home, he rarely saw one of those. Willow liked books a lot more than toys and his father had always been too busy to just fly about. He was much more likely to see a fishing boat than to see a anything of interest in the skies. Even the small broomstick at the back held his interest… especially because it flew so close to ground. From here, he could actually see the elegant twigs that formed the tail of the broom.

It was only as the girl that had been flying about on it spoke to him that he tore his gaze from the toy and got to his feet.

"You!"

She was speaking to him now and Robbie didn’t like it one bit. The face she made was enough to make him want to forget about the broomsticks and run all the way back to his room. He knew that face. Holly made that face whenever she was about to burst into tears.

Robbie hated that face.

He was about to turn around and act on his first instinct when the girl spoke again.

"...Do you want to play?"

“Play?” he asked, swinging back in her direction, despite somehow knowing that all of this might still end in tears. “Do you have toys?”

Hopefully she didn’t just want him to chase her all over. In that case he might as well play with Alder. Just by looking at her, he guessed his brother could run a lot faster than this girl.

Also, Alder never made the face.
