Biography:

Pureblood.
It was a word that meant a lot to some people and very little to others.

Freddie was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, being the third and last child of a pureblooded couple who lived in a reasonably sized house on a decent sized area of land. It wasn’t enough to put them in the running for Top Pureblood Family of London but it was more than enough to raise a family on.

Baxter Larson, aged fourty five when Freddie was born, had been the heir to his family fortune like his father before him had, and so forth. Baxter had capitalised on the money he had inherited and put it to use in the business world, now owning numerous chains of menangeries across Wizarding England. He was an animal man, forever finding strays to bring onto their land as fosters before releasing them. It was how Freddie gained a handful of scars in his childhood by not reading the signs from the animals that they did, in fact, not want to play with a rambunctious boy. They were a steady family, above the poverty line by leaps and bounds but not quite rich enough to be considered high society. This was how Baxter preferred it, anyhow. He didn’t believe in extra help like maids or house elves, so the house functioned very much like a typical one, with chores and a bit of magic here and there.

Frances Larson, nee Northington, came from a family where she was groomed to become a wife and mother. Her bloodline is strong and unfortunately for her parents, she didn’t seem to care too much about marrying higher than her station. Instead, she dropped a few levels when she met Baxter in her late teens and became enamored. They courted for almost five years before becoming engaged and wed the following summer. She couldn’t have been happier when she fell pregnant and the pair began to create their little family. The business trips were always an excuse to see somewhere new, a small holiday here or there. Frances approves of her husband’s work, but brings an income herself by writing articles and advice columns in local newspapers, magazines and leaflets both magical and wizarding alike. She had a way with words that allowed her to earn her way through life, merely adding to the funds they were developing together.

Sampson is the first born, heir to the house, land and money. He is roughly fifteen years older than Frederick and despite everything being practically handed to him his entire life, his head isn’t horribly massive. Sampson was quick to take a step into the business his father had begun, doing shop visits and learning from the bottom up so he could fully take over when Baxter retired. He married young, to another pureblood, and quickly had a daughter and a son with another on the way, and his wife, Kadence, had easily settled into the Larson family. They visited from time to time, mainly on holidays and when Baxter and Sampson were at business events. Sam was a slightly intimidating man who came across as short tempered and harsh, but had such a soft side that his relationships with his siblings were easygoing and steady. Frederick often got paid to babysit his niece and nephew and sometimes stayed at Sam’s when his parents were away.

Rachael was the middle child but she certainly wasn’t one to be forgotten. Rach was much like her mother, despite getting her father’s looks, and became an entrepreneur in her teens. She stuck close to the business chats and soon developed a good head on her shoulders, opening her own clothing line in her early twenties. She too married relatively young and was winning the race with already four children, under the age of six. Frederick loved his nieces and nephews but the six, almost seven, of them together were quite a headache. The ten year gap between Rachael and Freddie turned their relationship into more of a maternal one, with the elder being used to looking after her baby brother in their childhood when needed. She moved out but visited far more often than their brother did, using ‘Grammy Fran’ whenever she needed to work.

Then came Freddie. Or Red, as his brother, sister and father called him. Freddie was his mother’s thing. It had started as a joke when he used to get embarrassed or overwhelmed as a young child, his little face becoming as bright as a tomato until he had calmed down. What had started as gentle teasing and tears ended up as a nickname that he couldn’t quite seem to budge.

Freddie knew he had very little chance of inheriting the fortune or running the business, being knocked back every time his siblings had a son, but that suited him just fine. He wasn’t a business guy. He wasn’t even a numbers guy, even if his numeracy skills weren’t awful. As of now, Freddie was just.. Freddie. His years at Hogwarts proved to be uneventful and his grades were average as they come. His passions were unfounded and sometimes, he wondered if that was just how he was meant to be.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Preferably not Slytherin (due to having a current char there)

Personality:
Tell us a bit about your character’s personality (likes, dislikes, fears, etc.) What are they like on a good day versus a bad one? Is your character particularly cheerful? Do they hate sunlight?

Freddie is quite laid back, prefers to go with the flow and isn’t too fussed with what is going on around him. He isn’t one to be the centre of attention, but that isn’t to say that he would shy away when given the opportunity. He likes doodling, listening to bands like Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd and The Who. His dislikes are far and few between, perhaps when his sister comes to stay and lets his nieces and nephews into his room without his permission, or when it rains on dog walks. Freddie is reasonably well mannered and polite, drilled into him from his childhood, but is also capable of being loyal and insulting when required. He loves to sleep, able to crash just about anywhere, any time or any place. This doesn’t have the desired effect on his school work so he sometimes finds himself studying at odd hours to try and pull his grades back up. Due to not being watched heavily or swayed to like a certain thing, Fred has a generic interest in most subjects and doesn’t have a major preference for a specific type of magic.

Appearance:
Briefly describe your character's appearance (hair color, build, stature, etc.) What effect does it have on their personality? For example, does the shy Ravenclaw girl secretly dye her hair black because she hates her natural blonde? Does the curly-haired Gryffindor use charms to hide his freckles?

Freddie grew up with tight blond curls that fell into waves during his teenage years, much to his mum’s disappointment. It has begun to threaten a colour change - brown hairs weaving themselves between the blond, turning it a sandy brown instead. His eyes are a mix of green and brown, hazel if one could call it that. There wasn’t much out of the ordinary with Freddie’s appearance, being a decent height of five foot nine, an average weight and longer in the front hairstyle that fell in front of his eyes in a middle parting. He knows he’s not terrible looking, as his teeth are pretty straight, he wasn’t covered in acne and his jaw was considerably defined, but good looking wasn’t a word he felt comfortable with. Therefore, his mother used it as much as humanely possible.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay Response:

“Birch?”

Red pushed some of his hair out of his eyes as he pursed his lips together. A pencil scratched at his temple as he thought.

“Doesn’t ring a bell.”

The dungeons weren’t where he expected to find someone quite small and quite possibly a first or second year wandering about the back halls. He knew the castle relatively well by now, having been a student for a few years, but he couldn’t be one hundred percent sure that there weren’t any random rooms littering about the area.

“Are you meeting this Emma Birch somewhere?” Red tucked the pencil into his back pocket and took a step closer to the young girl. “Are you okay?” He changed his line of questioning upon seeing how she clung to herself. She didn’t seem like she knew where she was going and he hoped that she hadn’t been lost for too long. Maybe a Pepperup potion would wipe the chill from her, he wondered as he waited for her response.
