Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name:
Maksymilian 'Max' Kuczynski

Birthday:
May 25th, 1966/1928

Hometown:
Manchester, Muggle Britain

Bloodline:
Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two): 5th/6th

Biography:
Maksymilian 'Max' Kuczynski was born in 1966 to a non-magical father and a pureblood mother. His father, Witold Kuczynski, was a veteran from the Second World War. He and his mother met in the autumn of 1940. At the time, Witold served a pilot in the Polish Air Force, which aided the British army during the so-called Battle of Britain. His plane was gunned down in a raid and he probably would have lost his life then and there if it hadn’t been for a beautiful young angel’s dedicated care and support. Matilda Rothschild sat by his side and treated his burns for seven weeks without so much as a sign of fatigue until the soldier was fully recovered. She was only sixteen at the time and had left Hogwarts to become a nurse in the muggle world, much to the chagrin of her elitist parents. Witold fell madly in love with her and and swore to serve and protect her, like he had done for his country.
After the war, the young couple moved to Muggle Manchester to start their family life together, away from the Communist regimes that had now taken over Central and Eastern Europe, as well as from Matilda’s overbearing parents who strongly disapproved of their union. Witold started out as a simple worker in a cotton factory but thanks to his dedication and hard work, he soon managed to climb up the career ladder, finally becoming a chief expert. Despite all he did to offer his wife the life she wanted, Matilda was unhappy. Not because she was bored or dissatisfied with her lifestyle, on the contrary. What truly bothered the young woman was her inability to have children. They had tried everything and even the magical doctors were unable to help, so they eventually gave up on having a child of their own.  Imagine their surprise when in 1965 they found out Matilda was pregnant, and at the age of 42!
Max was a long-awaited kid and as such, he quickly became the center of the family. His mother would constantly spoil him by tending to his every little wish and desire, which often resulted in quarrels with his much sterner father. However, that was nothing compared to the rupture that ensued after they found out Max was a wizard, about the time he was seven years old. His mother would burst with pride and insisted on his going to Hogwarts. His father would not hear of it. He was determined to make of his son a major player in the cotton industry and a suitable heir to the Kuczynski family, which was known for its members’ hard work and devotion. Soon after the discovery of Max’s  powers, Witold gradually alienated himself from the family and would not come home for hours after worktime and their neighbours would often gossip about him having a mistress. One night, he came home late to find that his wife and son had left without so much as a note on the table. Matilda took Max to her parents’ old house, in Magical Britain, hoping that their temporary absence would make Witold rethink his behaviour. Ironically, this turned out to be the year of the Time Warp. They were separated indefinitely from the muggle world and their memories would fade to the point that Matilda vaguely remembered having once had an affair with some military guy and that for some reason she couldn’t remember anything about him. As for Max, all he knew was that he was raised by a single mother and with time, he even stopped asking the ‘who’s my daddy’ question.
Under the influence of his overbearing and authoritarian mother, Max would grow up to become an indecisive, dependent and pretentious boy, who would often be made fun of by other kids for his preppy clothes and funny behaviour. It wasn’t until his first year at Hogwarts that he found refuge in the face of sarcasm and non-judgmental friends. His sharp sense of humour and his articulate self-mockery allowed him to disguise his insecurities and to draw attention to himself. That being said, he quickly earned popularity and became known to his classmates as the class clown. He would often joke around and play pranks at teachers or simply annoy them by being cheeky. His fellow students enjoyed the shows he put on but would never take him seriously. Despite all his charm, he has never succeeded in getting a girl to date him for more than a couple of weeks. He has recently started to feel a certain emptiness, mainly because he has slowly realised that all his relationships were nothing more than enjoyable acquaintances. He longs for something real but cannot admit it to himself and would continue to hide his vulnerability under a cloak of fake confidence and meaningless friendships. He is still not ready to fully open up, but maybe if the right person came along and was persistent enough to stay…Who knows?

House Request: Gryffindor

Personality: Max is genuinely funny and charming. He's confident among his friends and classmates but absolutely clueless when it comes to girls. He hates serious talks and can turn everything into a joke, thus his light and easygoing nature. He's not very sensitive to other people's feelings and sometimes comes off as rude even though he usually means no harm. He likes to think of himself as a philosopher but he only has vague knowledge of the subject. Actually, he's nothing more than a smooth talker. Nevertheless, he has a genuine love for literature and theatre and can quote a vast repertoire of memorable lines. Deep down, he's a very sensitive boy and a romantic idealist.

Appearance:
Max has dark short hair, pale skin and brown eyes. His trademark is his thick eyebrows that he used to hate but now thinks they make him look manlier. He is of medium height and is rather skinny (although he recently started working out!) Max dresses intentionally nerdy because “girls dig that thing”. He wears large thick-framed glasses even though he barely needs them. He dresses casually but could spend hours deciding between two simple T-shirts. His style might change over the course of the next school year, since he is thinking of trying on a more ‘stay classy’ look.

Option II

‘Hmm, let me see, frog legs?” Max furrowed his eyebrows as if he was thinking really hard. “I don’t know man, I mean, it really is a deep philosophical question, isn’t it?”
He liked to tantalize people with his meaningless blabbering, especially when they seemed like they were in a hurry. He contemplated making a joke about how women’s legs are the only legs that interest him but he didn’t want to come off as that big of a jerk. Besides, Astrid was rather cute and he had already antagonized more than enough attractive girls with his immature behaviour. So, serious it is, then.
“You know, I actually think it’s the idea of frog legs that disgusts people, not their taste. In fact, I used to hate them too until my mom made frog legs for dinner one time and told me that they were chicken legs. There’s hardly any difference at all!”
He stared at Astrid’s notoriously indecent quill as it danced around on the parchment, wondering what ridiculous concoction it would come up with this time. Not that it mattered, since no one actually paid attention to what was written in the paper. None of his friends did, anyway. Still, he felt like he should have said something more or something different to prolong the conversation. He had seen Astrid many times around the corridors and had not once had a desire to talk to her and now that he did, he couldn’t think of anything to say. He was almost ready to leave, when he suddenly came up with an idea.
“Hey, Astrid, I just thought of something you could write about in the paper. It has nothing to do with frog legs but I figured it might be good material for an article. My mates and I are doing this sort of…um, sort of a play tomorrow at the Main Hall during lunch. You know, impressions of teachers with improvised costumes and all that. I mean, I’m not sure if they would let you publish it or anything and we’re bound to get it trouble for doing it but hey, I’m sure it would be a laugh. So, yeah, you should definitely come.”

P.S. I would like Max Kuczynski to become my main character. After that, I would either retire Lana Lancaster or continue to play her in Elsewhere. :)

Several things to clarify:

1. Having read more carefully the premise of the Warp, I now realise my character Elsa Baudelaire is not applicable to this universe. Therefore, I have completely altered her background and personality. I would like, if possible, to also change her name to Lana Lancaster.

2. About the Hospital Wing, I just assumed since we're dealing with WWII, Hogwarts might be volunteering to help wounded wizard soldiers. Anyway, it's just a suggestion, so I'll change my sample RP too.

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name:
Lana Lancaster
Birthday:
November 6, 1965/1927
Hometown:
Littlehampton, West Sussex
Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):
Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination

Year (pick two):
5th, but I can do 4th or 6th as well
Biography:
Lana Lancaster was born in Littlehampton, West Sussex, to muggle parents Harold and Maude Lancaster. Her father was a parish council member and her mother was the headmistress of an elite high school. Her father had a distant cousin - Miss Chiltern, who was a witch and a good friend of his, so he was familiar with the magical world. That is why, after the Time Warp, Lana didn’t get the same treatment as the rest of the muggleborn children. She was sent off to live with Miss Chiltern, who was also the headmistress of an orphanage for muggleborns. The orphanage was famous for being more tolerant than other facilities of the sort. Although she wasn't forced to wear a blood status badge like the rest of the children, Lana quickly became friends with them and sympathized with them. It all changed after Miss Chiltern’s untimely death. A new headmaster was assigned and Lana lost her privileges. She was forced to wear a blood status badge, just like everyone else, and was subject to severe segregation.
Things started looking slightly better for her when she was enrolled in Hogwarts. She met fellow sympathizers and became a member of FEW. One of her regular activities is to visit orphanages, making sure that muggleborn children aren’t neglected or abused. Since the beginning of WWII, she’s been volunteering in St. Mungo’s, taking care of wounded soldiers.
Lana is a bright student and a promising witch. She excels in performing charms and is quite good at making potions. Her one weakness is divination – she can’t wrap her head around it and remains suspicious about its effectiveness. Lana is also a reporter for the school newspaper. She writes mainly about WWII and the FEW movement. She also writes short stories for children but reads them only to children in orphanages. She aspires to become a war correspondent or an accomplished novelist.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:
Gryffindor or Hufflepuff
Personality:
Despite her unfortunate situation, Lana has always been a cheerful and friendly person. She is very compassionate and cares deeply for the lives of others. She can be very stubborn and gets really upset when she fails to get her own way. She loves reading, especially history books. She hates routine and needs to be on the move all the time. She prefers the company of boys, since she's been picked on by other girls about her boyish appearance. However, she tends to be quite awkward around boys she fancies. Her natural clumsiness doesn't help much, either.
Appearance:
Lana has a fair skin, grey eyes and black, shoulder-lenght hair. She is of average height and quite skinny. When she was younger, she had short hair and was often confused for a boy because of her lack of curves. It wasn't before third year that she decided to grow her hair out long and start dressing more feminine. Lana bears a striking resemblance to actress Millie Perkins.

Option 2
Lana turned around and recognised a familiar face. It was Astrid, her fellow reporter for The Spellbound. "Hey, Astrid, how's it going?", she said cheerfully. "You're doing the food column again this week, aren't you? Well, let me take a moment to think about it." She gazed at the empty corridor, trying to remember the last time she ate frog legs. Astrid's quill was jumping impatiently forward and backward, waiting for an answer.
"Right, well, I think they're OK. Initially I was pretty grossed out by the idea of eating frog parts, but they actually don't taste that differently from, say, chicken. I think most people haven't even tried frog legs and are biased against them." As the quill was writing down her thoughts, Lana was tempted to peek into Astrid's parchment but she knew it wasn't polite. "Is that quill of yours still misquoting people? You should try to dip it into Veritaserum", Lana said jokingly. "Anyway, it was nice talking to you. Good luck with your article!"
The two girls parted ways and Lana rushed off to class.
