Biography: At first glance one would not see Mary Jane Watling. She was the unnoticeable type someone who seemingly slipped through the cracks. A pureblood girl who had been orphaned at a young age and in the confusion of the time displacement and the fact she only had one living family left (who decided they'd just ignore her existence) she fell through the cracks and was adopted by a pureblood squib and her family. Raised in Dingle, Ireland, a small town really, with a small house with a yellow door and an apple tree sat right down next to the towns graveyard. Ostracized by her classmates for he quiet bookish ways and the fact she lived near a graveyard she did not have many (or any really) friends. She was taken in by a family of 5 with two elder sisters, a little brother and her parents. Her mother and her were close when she was alive, seemingly the only one who understood young Mary Jane(Her mother can't exactly legally tell anyone she's a squib or her daughters a witch, even her own family). Mary was young when her mother died and was only left with fading memories of her. There father was once a young warm loving father. After his wife's death though he was forced to work more and slowly became a scowling tired old man. Only spared the draft because of a farming accident which left him with some less then stellar health. The two elder sisters(Marigold and Martha) barely noticed there sister existed. Marigold was the eldest of the family, she was also the one with the most attention. Nicknamed Goldie (for her light red hair that was just a shade away from blonde and name) she was the epitome of a queen bee. She refused to wear anything but the latest and her jewelry always matched her outfit. Goldie was not kind, she demanded everything her way dismissive of other, being borderline cruel with both words and actions if you went against her. Mary had learned this to quickly and often the recipient of many harsh words growing up Martha was Goldie's opposite even if they were twins. She had been born small and sickly. The doctors did not expect her to live past the night. She lived though but stayed sickly and was forced to stay at home for the majority of her life. She spends her days by supporting her family by knitting and sowing. She was kind but despondent, an untouchable idol, someone that no matter how hard Mary Jane reached for always seemed to slip away. The only other family she had was her young brother Albert. He in is younger years experienced the same loneliness that Mary Jane felt in their family and noticing a kindred soul they flocked to each other. Alas they grew apart as her brother and her grew apart. he gained new friends that were quick to judge the older "weird" girl. Albert started to actively avoid his sister and gradually forget her altogether. She then started to drift more and more away from reality. She found happiness in learning new things and she slowly fell in love with reading. She was not allowed to grow in the environment she was in, a flower kept from even coming to the surface, yet she lived slowly growing roots out and exploring her world from her home. When that letter came she was shocked. She just did not know how to respond. She was shocked, confused, and anxious when it hit her, she could leave. It had always been there in the back of her mind, but she'd always dismissed the thought thinking she had no hope of it ever happening. She was ecstatic, she could have freedom. A whole world hidden away that she could escape into. She knew there was going to be catch, something wrong with the strange society she had been introduced to but she didn't really care for one reason. Possibility. This place would be new and she could live their changing and creating her own niche in the world. When she discovered the prejudice and actions against muggleborns she panicked, her hope was slipping down the drain. Though fortunately she found about most of this in the middle of getting her blood tested which would have ended in disaster for any other muggle born. She was very relieved and surprised when she found out she was a member of the Falkov family. This of course leaves a hint of paranoia about anyone finding out about her family though no matter how estranged they are for both hers and their sakes.

Personality: She was once a garden of possibilities. Clever and witty she once had a comeback for every situation. Goldie did not like this and did not like Mary's humor so was often harsh on her. After her mothers death both girls grief stricken turned away from each other, Goldie jealous and spite of her mothers "favorite" and filled with grief turned cruel and harsher in her words. Mary young and impressionable with an already grief dulled heart was left forever hurt by those words and became quitter. She was the one who informed you Mary J. that she'd been adopted making her question her entire life and how much they loved her. The questions of how she fit into the world only increased after her brothers betrayal. Once wanting to be on the top of the world she quickly found her previous ambitions had abandoned her.(Ignited slightly by the wizarding world but not truly thriving as it once was) She was once kinder and more loyal but a turned back and abandoned friends had all but robbed her of her love for humanity. Her sister Martha's turned back left her with feelings of self-doubt and pity(that while when found to be a witch subsided come back a lot). Forced into the background the broken shards of her former shards turned to what hadn't been discouraged or destroyed, her intelligence and curiosity. Two things that usually went unnoticed or in curiosities case refused to let go. So she formed a new her, one that was intelligent and marveled at the world around her. She used her old cleverness and wit to avoid people and their ridicule. She used her ambition to help her gather more books and with the info she got from them in turn either get what she wanted but under normal circumstances could never get or more books. She was still plagued by anxiety, nervousness, sadness, self-doubt and a lot of repressed anger but she had built herself a little niche in the world. Her perceptiveness and open intelligent mind paired with her constant search for worth, stability and something more would/will drive her into the divination subject full speed. her creative mind would also help her in transfiguration and she'd probably be good/ok in charms because of the fact she's generally a good student but her lack of confidence and self-doubt would ruin her conjuring abilities. As she is most nervous in this area she would panic and be wracked with self-doubt whenever she encountered it. She is also an avid star gazer which came from her mother who used to tell her stories underneath the apple tree of their home about the stars. She also is fairly superstitious with thing like knocking on wood, zodiacs(she's Taurus), and spilt salt. Also not incredibly socially aware, she is smart and clever but basically avoiding people and rarely having a conversation where she was not constantly watching her words she is often left flustered and confused about friendly gestures or making conversation. also loves cooking and gardens to save resources and money.
Appearance:Mary Jane is incredibly short, I would be in awe if she ever reached pass 5'0 and even that is a stretch, and frail looking. Mary Jane has a very nice cat orange hair. The color that's just a tad to dull to be orange but has that perfect almost orange-cream color with a lovely silky smooth texture with just a slight curly wave but it is often kept in a bun. Her eyes would be a grass green. She is self-conscious of all of these things because they are so different then her adopted families features, whose hair is a much lighter color and whose eyes are more hazel. She does end up picking up a pair of decorative golden wire, circular, pick-lensed sunglasses that literally look like regular glasses filled with stained glass though which often block them from veiw. She was gifted a small emerald amulet in the shape of dragonfly from her mother for her birthday. The only other accessory she allows is her mothers wedding ring. Likes to cover up in things like turtle necks, long skirts, even gloves and black stockings. Incredibly shy and self conscious nobody really knows how beautiful she could be. While her style may seem dark and drab she loves jewelry and brighter colors.... she just never wears them only barely allowing the three accessories she owns. also freckles many many freckles. She has a scar on her right shoulder where she was bitten by a dog in her childhood which misleadingly looks like a werewolves bite which is the great potential for some crazy assumptions.
