Hello!

5'2" it is then. He is taller than your average 11 year old. Early growth spurts and all. Mainly due to his body reacting to him being outdoors so often and exercising so much on his rescue missions back at the preserve.

Sounds fair enough. What about muggle born? I assume things can happen still though. Live Severus messing with the leaves and Harry talking with the snake and making the glass disappear.

Hello!

I was wanting to write up some extra short stories for Devare. However, I was unable to locate any other areas of interested except info on the Salem Institute. Is there a 'Diagon Alley' like substitute in America? If so, where can I find the information regarding this area?

Thanks again!

Hello!

Quick question. At what point in a young wizard's career is "The Trace" applied to them?

Thanks in advance!

I posted my application. But I forgot to add the school emblem to the top of it. Is here a way to edit my own post to add that?

Biography:

Devare “Devi” is the only child of Aaric and Abigail. His parents moved to California from England in 1960 and opened a surf board shop which is still running to this day. Until recently, Devi’s days were filled with athletics. From the morning and afternoon surfing to the sports he played while at school. Nothing seemed to slow Devi down. However, about a year ago things all began to change for Devi.
It was an ordinary Spring morning and Devi was putting on his favorite wetsuit. His dad had told him that by rotating wetsuits you could not only save money but also get different experiences while “riding”, as his dad would call it. He quickly grabbed his board and ran for the beach, being that they lived above the surf shop it took him mere minutes to get out into the ocean and say good morning to the other enthusiasts out there that morning. He waited patiently for his turn and was happy to see that his wave was going to be the biggest he had seen this morning. Devi noticed soon after that the pull of the wave was enormous, but as he had already swam forward he had two choices left. He could either attempt to ride it or try to crash safely.
The ride was exhilarating! Up until Devi lost control of his board and was slammed into the ocean water. He lost all sense of direction as he spun around in the cycle of the wave and found himself losing what little air remained in his lung from the impact into the water moments ago. A sudden spike of fear rose through him quickly, sharp pain in his hands and neck. So this is what death feels like… Devi thought to himself. Moments after that his body could take it no more and his natural instinct to gasp for air took over. However, to his surprise he was not breathing in water. He looked around shocked. His hands had become webbed and there were gills on his neck. He marveled for a moment at this before the safety cord attached to his leg tugged hard against him. That is when he noticed that he was still caught in the swell, but was not spinning uncontrollably anymore. A few seconds later the swell died out and rolled into the shore with him still in it. He looked again at his hands and touched his neck. It was gone. Or was it just his imagination.
Similar events began to happen to Devi time and time again over the next few months. It was not until he received a invitation from Salem Institute that he realized what was actually happening. His parents were not surprised at all, or rather seemed to not care as they were the typical hippie surfers of California at the time and were usually inebriated with some sort of illegal substance. They congratulated him and thought of it as a scholarship to some high-class school. Money was never the issue though, Devi’s family were well taken care of he learned when he was eight. It seemed that Devi’s recently deceased grandfather had left his dad the rights to several patents, and it turned out that the surfer shop was a means for Aaric and Abigail to better enjoy their lives without the stresses that Aaric’s father lived through. In any case, the invitation could not have come at a better time for Devi. He was lost with what was happening to him and now he was shown a way to hone yet another skill. The skill of Wizardry.

Devare Alcott is the only child of Aaric and Abigail Alcott. They live above their privately owned surfshop in Huntington Beach, California.

Aaric Alcott: Born in 1936 he was the son of William Alcott. Through most of his childhood and young adult life he was a rebel. Fighting against what his father called “Correct”. He loved to surf and quickly became friends with others of similar interests. He met Abigail on one of his clubs surfing tours and the two quickly came to love each other. They moved to Huntington Beach, Califora USA in November of 1960 and set up their surf shop on the shores of Huntington Beach.

Abigail Alcott: Born in 1940 was a soul of the wind. She was always out doors out running the boys in her neighborhood and swimming around in the nearby lake where her family would go for the summer. It wasn’t until her 19th year that boys started to take an interested in her, but she didn’t mind. She was more concerned about proving how much better she was than them. At nearly everything. She was a star among her teachers, always helping other students and volunteering her time when she could. On her 18th birthday she was helping a local community group clean up a section of beach when she met Aaric.

((OOC: I randomly chose the name Alcott, I honestly don’t want it to be linked to the founder of the school. I figure it could be a common misconception that he is related to the Alcott that originated the school. One that he will correct. Or he could be related to Alcott through a side of Alcott’s family line that did not have any gift with magic.  Up to you though.))

Thanks in advance! I hope I am not applying to late.
