Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.
Name: Enoch Baines

Birthday: October 31st, 1925

Hometown: Hogsmeade

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Transfiguration

Magical Weakness (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 5th preferably, 6th as secondary

Biography:
Born to a squib mother and father, Enoch was the second child in the Polish/English family that resided in the old and then peaceful Wizarding village in Southern Poland with his mother's jewish-descent family. His older sister was 4 when he was born, but it was when Enoch was 2 when she first showed some magical signs. They were weak, but it gave the hope that magic had not left the family after all. The family moved to the United Kingdom, in attempts to reconnect with an old family friend by the name of Arsenius Paladin to learn of possibilities for their daughter to study, and eventually stayed.

Even if the focus was on his sister, Enoch got introduced with the magical world as well, even making friends with the family friend's grandchildren, Paris and Pacifica. He didn't really feel lonely either, a little distant from most children his age due to his odd heritage (as he saw it after explained once, why were they darker than a lot of people), he found it entertaining enough to have an older sister and a few friends already made. It was only topped when his younger brother was born. Enoch was 5 when the latest family addition joined them, and he was happy to have another sibling, even if he had plenty of people to interact daily with.

Things changed when he turned 10. He had shown magical signs too, but the family could not afford staying in the United Kingdom anymore and thus the family returned to the place of his birth. It wasn't long after when his Hogwarts letter arrived, but they had to decline and instead he was privately tutored by his relatives and sister, who had managed to get a few years of the Hogwarts education before she had to withdraw.

For years the life continued that way and Enoch never really made much friends, never finding where he would fit in and it seemed to get harder with every year that passed.

Then, 1939 arrived and the war broke loose, driving Enoch with his family to run for it, their ancestry far too clearly written in their looks and stories to escape the violence that enveloped Poland in the darkness. Eventually, they found themselves in Greece; a temporary safe place, but Enoch's father was looking into finding contacts with the same friend they had turned to many years ago already.

They got lucky, and, right before Greece entered the war, the family moved back to the United Kingdom, the five people settling in a small three-room apartment in Hogsmeade. Involved in the local magical society once again, it was a new breather for Enoch, who had already grown up and gotten used to entertain himself by catching spiders and other bugs for his own entertainment, finding the little buzzers and crawlers much more interesting than anything else. Besides, whenever he had a spider on hand, he could find some entertainment in the reactions and squeals of others. Even the strongest man could turn into a trembling mass at a sight of one, and Enoch found it funny.

Since the family had managed to settled a bit better in Hogsmeade, they planned on trying to send the both sons to Hogwarts for at least a few terms, but the term had already begun and it was too late, so for now that is a plan for the future.

And thus, with the beginning of term '41-'42, Enoch hoped to start his studies in an actual school to be able to make the most of his abilities.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality: Enoch is generally a rather quiet guy until someone gives him a reason to talk and even then, it's possible that he will toy with words to insult you in a nonchalant manner, testing you while also trying to get rid of you if there is no good that he could get from you. He enjoys making deals to try and gain the best for himself but his spirit is secretly competitive and he would even sometimes take excessive lengths to settle on a deal that would benefit him more than the other side of the party if not equal.
Another trait of his is that he likes to scare or disturb people for his own entertainment, his favourite critters to use being spiders.
He can be rather judgemental but it's never without a good reason, even if that reason is not directly associated with the object of current judgement. Enoch doesn't really make friends easily, but those he does befriend he will keep an eye on and anyone they interact with to gain enough approval for the outsider person. Otherwise, he will find a way to smoke those not approval-worthy out.

Appearance:

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
The halls of Hogwarts were still foreign to him, but he wandered them with as much of confidence as possible, taking one staircase after the other until he found himself in a hall that he never remembered to have seen. Then again, his sister had told him about Hogwarts and how it was sometimes like a big maze. It just took persistence and some of the free time to get there, to learn the halls and places.

And it was amazing how alive was the internal 'fauna' of the school; full with bugs; flies buzzing in the air, stumbling into the glass, the webs that hid spiders, and then he thought to have seen some beetles here and there, whether escaped from a professor's classroom or unwittingly trailed in from the outdoors.

It was the perfect place to avoid the curiosity of the people that he had easily grown bored of already. Perhaps they tried to be friendly, and he had returned the kindness with a grain of salt, for now. It was a game of valuing everyone first and furthermost, because he knew nobody and judgement came from knowledge and weaknesses that he could access.

And yet he was not given a full peace today as a voice suddenly rang the air somewhere behind him ''Hey!' the singy-song tone was the first point of determination that this conversation would be in no way pleasant for him unless he'd make it so.

The Pole turned around partially to face the girl, his face calm, neutral friendly even for now although his palms were still clasped together gently, creating the crate for that one spider he had caught in the halls earlier on.

“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

Papers, he was sick of looking at them nowadays and in no way he found the benefit to contributing on such topic for the paper in this school. Instead, he brought up his hands and released the spider and it ran to the top of his open palm. He leaned closer to the girl, eyes narrowing the slightest bit ''How about we do an exchange, you eat this spider and tell me how it tastes and I'll see what I can tell you about the frog legs?''

Because in reality, he had never eaten those and was sure that he'd never eat them in his life.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
He liked the Godric Park, especially on the days when sun decided to show itself between the neverending layers of clouds that coated Scotland. But even with that, it was nice to see that there were a lot to look at when everything still felt so new and foreign. They had lived in London earlier, never had gone to Hogsmeade, so this was a wonderful change of scenery.

A bunch of kids yelling reminded him of his little brother and he watched them amused until a voice practically barked his way making the young man jump slightly ''You!'' dark eyes swiftly found the source of the call ''Eh-- me??'' he was taken aback slightly, breaking the usually cool and calm facade easily but he cleared his throat and just stared at the little girl with the toy broom.

"...Do you want to play?"

He blinked, bringing a hand up, a finger poked towards his own chest in question if she really was talking to him before he eyed the broomstick again ''Uh, sorry I don't like to play Quidditch,'' he offered a smile to her, the brows arching slightly.

That was when the tarantula he had acquired the other day decided to crawl out from behind his collar, sitting on the boy's shoulder innocently.

Well, Enoch glanced at the large spider, this was bound to be interesting.

He looked at the girl, waiting on the reaction.
