Strength and weaknesses (details please):
Strengths;- Hermes is a driven person, he is driven by the need to fulfill the purpose of life. During his years at Hogwarts, he was always striving to be the best, to the best possible version of himself that there could be. He wanted to be the honourable man, the gentlemen, the brave soul that helped in times of need, he was driven by fulfilling everyday as if it was his last.
Being an ambitious person, he is outgoing, wanting to strive for the best and so he tends to be somewhat talkative, always wanting to get to know people, what drives them, what makes them want to achieve. I think that this is a trait that can be used well within the teaching profession as he is likely to get to know all the students, and is there for when anyone might want to turn to him in times of need. He’s kind, caring and there for people.
Weaknesses;- Not everyone is perfect, and so Hermes has several faults. He’s not the best, he often can be found reading up books, continuingly learning how to become a better person. Perhaps this need to perfection can sometimes sway his judgement, often within himself rather than in connection with other people. Even though this is a weakness, he would more than likely strive to keep personal life private and not letting it get in the way of teaching life.
Physical description: Hermes is the picture of gentlemen. He has the cheekbones, the refined jawline; everything a handsome gentlemen should be. He can often be found wearing suits, as this asserts his authority, and it has been his choice of clothing ever since leaving Hogwarts when in public, for he doesn’t just represent himself, he represents his family, and so he must be seen to be smart and respectable by other witches and wizards.
Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.): Often Hermes has various tales to tell, he is a rather talkative person who can always be found wearing a smile. He cannot be seen upset, or crying for this is a sign of weakness and with his conditional training, no one can see him as being weak. However, when Hermes is angry, many people will notice it, with the constant knitted together eyebrows, and a somewhat scowl. He will not take this out on anybody, he will leave it until he is on his own and privately deal with his feelings.
Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: He never wanted to be a teacher in his adolescent years when he was deciding what career to choose. From his pureblood family, he ultimately fell down the route of politics, and so his grandfather declared him the family representative within the Wizengamot. What made him want to teach was the feeling he got when he helped several apprentices within the Ministry. He felt the sense of fulfillment, and so when the position of potions master came up, he applied, potions being his best subject when he was at school.
Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):
Hermes Ignatius Robert St.Oswald was born into the The Most Ancient House of St.Oswald, a family that has origins in France, having traveled to England with William The Conquer. It was through this loyalty and support that the family was given land, where the now infamous Highcove Palace now stands, the official residence of his grandfather, the head of the St.Oswald family. Hermes was born the eldest of twins, having arrived into the world ten minutes before his twin brother, Poseidon Armando William St.Oswald, they were born severely premature, their mother only being five months through the pregnancy. Being the eldest of his siblings who were to come along in the following years, he was risen as heir to the families fortune, estate and status in the Wizarding World, the family having accumulated more land, and more money through the ages.
His parents, Adelaide and Pierre raised their four children, Hermes, Poseidon, Albert (Charles Ares), Elizabeth (Sofia Athena) in Greenwich Lodge, a modest stately home in the heart of London. They lived a quiet life, his father working within the Ministry, being close friend to the Minister for Magic, his mother staying at home, running the house as a wife would. It wasn't until his fifth birthday that both him and Poseidon received a letter from Beauxbatons Academy for Magic where they would attend for the best part of their early childhood. It being tradition that St.Oswald children went to Beauxbatons, to make them ever known of their history and ancestry. The entire family moved to the Chateau near the school, where the young children would visit on weekends and through holidays, Hermes always said that was a highlight of his life so far.
The boys would return home to Great Britain ahead of their eleventh birthday where they would receive a second letter asking them to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. When at Hogwarts, Hermes was sorted into Gryffindor, befriending Xavier Donaldson and Nike Parkinson. Being a boy, he would often get into trouble, late homework's, fights in the corridor resulting in detentions and telling offs from his parents, even a strongly worded letter from his grandfather. It wasn't until his fifth year when he found that he wanted to work in the Ministry, having taken a trip there for a careers day. He soon fell in love with the idea of the Wizengamot and government, he probably had a slight power issue, wanting more but with self-help he would see that he wanted to make change rather than for power.
SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)
It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.
In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.
A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.
Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.
She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."
Explain yourself was what her face said.
Roleplay Response:
Hermes carried his usual black briefcase as he marched down the echoing corridors of Hogwarts. It had been ten years since he had wandered through these halls, with their incredibly high ceilings, their sandy coloured stones, most of them adorned with various portraits that were impressive. Many called out his name as he passed, which was quite humorous for him as he had not been here in so long. His lips curled upwards, his fingers nimbly fixing the buttons of his suit jacket. He was running late; he knew he was for he could not find the papers he needed, so now he knew he had something to do to get himself back into the Headmistresses good books.
Walking through the somewhat eerie halls of Hogwarts was memorable, he could remember the vast activities he’d gotten up to. Quidditch, spending most of his time in the hospital wing afterwards, the odd snog in a broom cupboard, it all started flowing back to him as he smiled. Then, he was ultimately greeted by the famous curling staircase to the Headmaster's office, he would be lying if he said that he had not once been in the office for miscellaneous activities. He could still remember the stern look on Professor Birch’s face when he had to explain why he and Miss Miller were caught in that broom cupboard.
Smile rampant on his face, appearing to be confident with everything he was doing; for there was something within him that was causing his heart to beat loudly; whether that be nerves, or the thought of being in that office again, he knocked on the door. Waiting for the response, he did not need to open the door himself, as it swung open of its own accord, and there she stood; Headmistress Anneka Ivanova. She stood with a presence that demanded respect; respect in which he gave, hoping she would too in return.
“I must express my immediate apologies, Headmistress” He spoke, chest somewhat puffed as he tried to appear as confident as he could be. “I did not mean to be late, I hope that you can find it within you to not use this as a means of dispelling me, it is a position that I would very much be honoured to behold”
