Biography:
her eighth birthday, 11:26am
"Needs more sugar."
Addie Ross finished licking the cookie dough off her finger and climbed off her little pink stool. She made her way across to the other side of the table and grabbed the required bag before hopping back onto her stool. Tongue poking out of her mouth and forehead creasing with concentration, the girl measured out another spoonful of sugar and tipped it into the mixture.
It was her birthday and, unsurprisingly, Nyla Adelaide Ross was alone. Not that she minded very much. She enjoyed her own company as much as she enjoyed anybody else's; besides, she was better at making snickerdoodles than the rest of her family put together. She didn't need any help, apart from to put them into the oven. But she would deal with that problem when she came to it. There was bound to be a sibling around somewhere who'd do it for her if she asked.
(Probably not Sophie.)
Reaching into the mixing bowl, Addie scooped out some cookie dough and began to roll the first of her snickerdoodles into a ball. The cinnamon and sugar was in another bowl on the table, ready and waiting for her to drop her cookies in. It wouldn't be long before she could put them in the oven, and shortly after that she'd get to eat them. Her birthday was turning out to be pretty good so far.
her eleventh birthday, 11:26am
Her snickerdoodles were already in the oven, shifting from pale yellow to golden brown, and the aroma in the kitchen was heavenly.
Addie finally finished licking the remains of the cookie dough from her mixing bowl, and nudged it over towards the pile of dirty dishes that still needed washing up. Washing up was her least favourite part of baking. In the hour that she had spent making her little cookie creations, the girl had somehow managed to use three tablespoons, two teaspoons, four bowls, one wooden spoon, two knives, a rolling pin, and - for some inexplicable reason - a saucepan.
Sliding off her chair and arranging the dishes in a manageable heap, Addie carefully carried them over to the kitchen sink and dumped them down. The chances of her actually getting around to washing them up were slim to none, but it was the thought that counted.
Besides, she had better things to do with her time; eating snickerdoodles, for example.
her thirteenth birthday, 11:26am
The oven was beeping and there were house elves everywhere, and she didn't want to accidentally trample one of them, but her snickerdoodles were going to burn if she didn't hurry up and rescue them.
She briefly considered asking Ig to grab them instead - he was definitely a lot closer than she was - but she was long past the age of asking someone else to help her with taking cookies out of the oven, and she didn't quite trust him not to accidentally drop them. Hopping over one cluster of house elves, and dodging around another that was carrying a plate of muffins (for the Hufflepuffs, no doubt), Addie almost made it.
Almost.
Because at that moment, another house elf appeared out of nowhere with a loud crack. Addie's feet got caught up with the house elf in question, and a second later, she found herself sprawled on the kitchen's stone floor in an undignified heap.
"Want a hand up?"
Ignatius was already leaning forward, one arm stretched out towards her, but she shook her head, pushing herself up off the floor.
"No."
The snickerdoodles were burning.
her sixteenth birthday, 11:26am
For fifteen years, Nyla Adelaide Ross had been alone on her birthday. She'd gotten so used to it that she hadn't minded (she'd even started to enjoy the solitude), but today she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
She'd been hoping that having a boyfriend meant that she didn't have to celebrate alone. Clearly, she'd been wrong.
Silas had been incredibly absent all morning, and after two hours of trailing through the castle corridors in search of him, the brunette had all but given up on her pointless task of trying to locate him. And that was why she was now in the kitchens as always, two batches of snickerdoodles in the ovens, and a third cooling on the side.
The door swung open suddenly, and the movement brought Silas Xavier sauntering through into the room. There was a grin on his face, and Addie brightened considerably at the sight of him. Perhaps she'd been wrong after all.
"These aren't as good as the ones you made a few weeks ago," was the first thing he said, after having wolfed down two of the cookies (and before he'd even wished her a happy birthday, no less).
"Oh." The smile faded from Addie's face, and her bottom lip trembled slightly. "M-maybe the next batch will be better."

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.
House Request: Ravenclaw, please!
Personality: As the youngest of the Ross siblings, Addie has been and is frequently overlooked. She's extremely passive, and is used to feeling invisible even among her own family. As a result, she tends to cling to anybody who shows the slightest bit of interest in her. Her timid nature means that she rarely answers back, even if it's to defend herself; she is quick to accept other people's opinions as superior to hers, and repeatedly allows people to take advantage of her submissive nature. She also has a slight obsession with dragons and snickerdoodles.
Appearance: Addie has mid-length brown hair, and almost always wears it down (with the exception of when she's playing Quidditch). She has hazel eyes, and has a fairly slight build. She is of average height, and is extremely good at blending into the background. After all, she's been doing it for years.

Option 1.
She didn't want to think about the consequences of being late to meet Silas. He wasn't the most tolerant of people when it came to punctuality - which was actually really unfair of him, because he was frequently late whenever she asked him to meet her. Sometimes, he didn't even show up at all.
But Addie wasn't going to bother trying to argue with him; she avoided confrontation like the plague, and in all honesty, Xavier could be terrifying when he was angry. Not anywhere near as bad as her father ever got, but Addie put that down to the influence of alcohol rather than a significant difference in personality.
(The fact that she had just compared her boyfriend to her father was probably not something she wanted to be admitting to herself, and the girl hurried a little faster down the corridor as she tried to shove the thought from her mind.)
"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"
Rounding the corner, Addie caught sight of a little first year standing in the middle of the corridor. The girl was facing away from her, but Addie could hear the fear in her tone. Clearing her throat softly so as not to startle the younger student, Addie replied apologetically, "I don't think you'll find Emma."
A grimace slid across her features. Thinking about Emma Birch was not something that she wanted to be doing, and privately Addie wished that Silas would hurry up. She didn't want to end up stuck here talking about dead people. The dungeons were sinister enough as it was.
"Her ghost, maybe. But definitely not her."
Ghosts were not people. Once a person died, there was no way of bringing them back completely. Addie knew that better than anybody.
