Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name:
Tempest Morrow York

Birthday:
01 April 1955

Hometown:
Giethoorn, Netherlands

Bloodline:
Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Charms

Year (pick two):
1st or 2nd

Biography:
Tempest, or Em as she is fondly known by the others in the orphanage, was the only surviving child of Luuk and Brevyn York of Giethoorn, Netherlands. Shortly after her birth, her father Luuk was sent to London on an assignment by the Netherland's Ministry of Magic (where he was an auror). Taking his young family, it was only a few months after arriving that both him and his wife were killed during a muggle boating accident while Tempest was being watched by his brother, Daan.

Despite the family's average estate in Giethoorn being left to Tempest, without a willing custodian it was returned to the Netherland government. The proceeds of the estate put into a living trust that was only accessible once Tempest turned 18. In the meantime, she was sent to reside in the orphanage in Wizarding London. Through the years she grew up with no knowledge of the small fortune that was left in her name.

Despite being a long-term resident of the orphanage, Em found herself in the company of a few others that she considered her family. It was in that small group that she established herself as the "competitive" one and focused on exceeding all expectations for her future. Over the years several couples did look into adopting Tempest but were secretly dissuaded by the lack of information about her living family.

For now, Em is content to wait for her time at Hogwarts to begin. Hopefully there she will begin to find her true family.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request:
N/A

Personality:
Tempest can be every bit as volatile as her name suggests. Though she is fiercely competitive, she is a very level-headed individual who isn't afraid of hurting someone's feelings if she feels they are in the wrong. She works hard for the things she wants and is very interested in all things Quidditch. Em is determined to make a name for herself at Hogwarts. As a friend she will always have your back and won't let others take advantage of the ones she loves. As an enemy, she'll put you through the ringer in a no-holds-barred opinion fest.

Appearance:
Of average height and build for her age, Em is the spitting image of her mother. With fair skin and light red hair, she stands out from the majority of her peers. Her eyes are a light blue color and often seen with dark circles beneath them due to the insomnia she suffers from. Her style of clothing can often be labeled "tomboy-ish" and she is rarely seen without her companion, Jethro the black rat.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Roleplay Response:
Tempest could relate; her hands wrapped firmly around Jethro as he wiggled to and fro trying his best to escape and join his newfound friend. She was not having it.

It hadn't gone unnoticed by her at breakfast that Hugh had left in a flurry, his temper showing as he took off after the rat that he struggled with keeping in line. And so it was then that Tempest had followed him, beyond the door of the Great Hall and eventually into the beautiful flowers that he was ripping through all while sneezing. She had not had much interaction with Hugh up to this point.

But she also wasn't going to let this opportunity go to waste. Still holding Jethro, she called out to Hugh despite his rude remark. "I bet I can find him before you do!" she countered, releasing her own rat into the thick of the flora. "Let's make a deal--" she began, pulling a small vial out of the pocket of her cloak. "If I find him, you have to drink this, but if you find him--I'll drink it!"

The liquid within looked worse than it actually was. Dirty with a sprinkle of shine, the muddy-liquid rolled in the vial as she shook it back and forth. Just a bit of lake water combined with some silver powdered dust. Meanwhile, she heard the shriek of Jethro discovering something.
