Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Early July.
1938.

A thin layer of dust covered everything. Draws. Desk. Carpet. It had lain dormant for some time but was clearly not untouched. Some ruffian examiner had taken it upon themselves to scavenge the place. All items seemed to have, at one stage or another, been overturned and searched through. Neither had the investigator bothered to put anything back. Whoever had taken it upon themselves to search the offices of Francis Turin had clearly not cared for discovery, suggesting perhaps, that what they had been looking for was entirely obvious. A sleeker and more wary culprit would have surely left no such trail.

Fortunately, Euphemius was not looking for culprits.

He closed the door behind him, barely twitching at the high pitched whine it echoed from its hinges. Glass scattered the floor and it tinkled underfoot as he crossed the room to the large wooden desk in the far corner, it's drawers upended onto the floor and mountains of paper obscuring it almost entirely from view.  If he had been less of a man, Euphemius might have cringed for the dirt, for even here it sat thick and heavy. The scavenger then, had visited at a far earlier date though this was not surprising as Turin's disappearance had been over a year beforehand. Indeed, had the small office been arranged for some other Ministry position, one might suspect it to have been entirely renovated. As it was, the position of Minister for Education remained vacant and frustratingly no tenures had yet been announced.

Hopefully that would change.

With the mere flick of his wand, Euphemius drew up a nearby chair. Wiping it with the hem of his sleeve, he placed it beside the desk and sat down, taking care that the tail of his robes should not be caught. He was nothing if not efficient.

The first file was unremarkable.

Thistlecomb, Petunia Cecily.  25Th March, 1918

Clyde. Gertrude. A Koren. Interesting. Four others and all surviving. Grades, something to be desired. Blue eyes flickered over each tidbit of information. Retrieved it and stored. Her file at the Ministry simply ended at 1936. No traceable job. No mention of marriage or offspring. An enigma. Yet here she was, made Head of House. If Euphemius had harboured any concern for the students of Hufflepuff he might have wondered at the subtleties of Elizabeth Birch's recruitment. The file was placed to the left and a small red stripe pasted to the cover.

Atkinson, Isabelle Rosemary. 21st May, 1919

The second file was better, though not by much. The grades had improved remarkably, though not in any outstanding measure. The usual bog subjects that Head Girls and Ravenclaws were expected to complete. Truthfully, Euphemius was somewhat disappointed, for he would have like to see something a more stellar from a product of his own house. Born in Boston seemed to say it all however, and the file, like its counterpart, was placed on the left.

Saint-Auxpris, Ellerie Delilah. 13th February, 1918.

Unremarkable.

Ellwood-Luxe, Lysander Dominic. 7th January, 1919.

Unremarkable.

Hallows, Eve Lynn. 31st October, 1920.

He had thought Turin to be pulling the wool over his eyes, each student as boring as the next, yet finally a spark. He had marked her out, make no mistake and the file was somewhat thicker than the others, though this was largely due to the several newspaper articles included within. She was clearly nosy, no doubt thanks to some superiority complex born of her debased blood. The Malhearsts however, were worth watching, and thus a pile was started on the right, its folders marked with a single blue diamond.

It was going to be a long night.[/i]

Roleplay: (If you are requesting Exceptional levels - above 32 total - please respond to the roleplay and questions here instead)
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:

Euphemius despised children.

They were a necessity, nothing more and the world was better served by nannies who kept them indoors and out of the way. Snotty noses and dirty cheeks were not fit for viewing by the general populace and the concern for infective germs was a very real one in Euphemius' mind. He was thankful he had largely escaped such trials in the guidance of his own singular offspring. Colette had quickly come to realise that the presentation of his infant daughter did no more to inspire tenderness than the muggle news did to inform him, although the latter may have instigated at least interest of which the former never had. She had cried somewhat, though not as pitifully as one previous occasions, something which Euphemius supposed he should be grateful for.

As it was, some poor excuse for a citizen had lost their offspring and it was now leaving paw marks on the hem of his coat.

“Get off.”

Merlin knew there was little time to be pandering to the germination of the plebeian class. The child however seemed indignant, for though Euphemius pulled, the cloak would not budge. He had a good mind to kick it, maybe the little puffball too, the only inconvenience being a shop full of people and a recognisable face. However much he would have liked to see the little cretin and her companion sprawled at the other end of the room (dutifully unconscious), reputation meant a great deal more. She was starting to attract stares no less and thus it became immediately clear to Euphemius that some measure of work would be required.

Merlin.

“Who are your parents?” he asked, grey eyes cold and calculated. No doubt some scum of a shopkeeper who had decided it was “take their child to work” day and quite forgotten to make them earn their keep.

Hello Euphemius!

Currently we are a bit unclear on your character's job and connection to the ministry. Is he just a secretary to who use to be the Minister of Education and has no connection to Ministry anymore or does he still work at the Ministry?

For me to approve this application please remove his occupation as secretary and contact Alastair Grimm after about the details of your character's job to have them approved.

Thank you!

Hey Euphemius!

In the future, after changing an application please could you reply to that thread so that we know you've changed it?

Thanks for clearing out those issues Florence bought up - however we are currently a little uncomfortable with the lack of permissions surrounding all the ties that are in the Bio. Please either remove the aspect of the files or use NPCs for any which you don't have permission to use.

On that note - it's also a little unrealistic that the ministry of magic would've left an office in it's buildings in that state for a whole year. Please bare this in mind when editing your bio.

Lastly, please can you make Euphemius's occupations and intentions clear?

Thanks!

Lyndon
