Biography: (300 words minimum.)

The red flash of light coming out of the ebony wand made sure that the fierce looking snake couldn't harm Oliver Kirwood. This was not the first threat that Ollie had faced and certainly not the deadliest one. He made his way through the Jungle stopping only when he saw the perfect tree to rest on.

The Ebony tree stood tall with perfect branches to climb on. Experience told him that Ebony trees were always safe, may be it was his wand that drew him closer to them but they had always been safe. Ollie quickly got on top of the tree and lied down on a branch. He had often wondered was it the right choice to leave Hogwarts in his 6th year to go live with his mother as the clouds of war were near.

Right or not, Ollie had left school and since then was on a trip of adventure, happiness, fright and dismay. He did manage to be with his mother for a while, that was until the two worlds were to be sealed. It was then that his mother insisted him on leaving and returning to where he belonged. Once back in the wizard world Ollie didn't feel like settling down and he continued on his trip. Exploring amazing places, facing dangerous foes, meeting new people and most important of all learning things that he would have never learnt at school. With the tension of the war increasing and the ministry recruiting young and able wizards for the war Oliver had to be careful, he believed the war wasn't necessary at all and wanted to stay away from it.

The sudden bright light woke Ollie up and he almost fell down the branch. It was morning and Ollie had fallen asleep contemplating life the night before. He could clearly see the village of Hogsmade in front of him, not sure if it was the right time to enter, he decided to take the risk and got down the tree and began walking towards Hogsmeade, taking the road not taken.

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
It was late. Oliver had been enjoying his last beer at the bar, talking to a bunch of other ‘late nighters’. Oliver felt a someone tug at his robes, he ignored and continued drinking. And again, someone was pulling at his robes determined to rip them apart. Oliver turned around and saw – saw nothing. There was no one there. Just as he was about to turn back he heard a squeaky little voice.

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home." The voice paused.

Oliver tilted his head and shifted his gaze a little lower - his beer still in his hand - and saw a tiny girl in a cloak looking up at him. He blinked trying to clear his head. She had something furry in her hands. Furry, small and custard colored. A careful examination revealed the true identity of the furry creature. It was a puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein.

The little girl’s squeaky voice came to life again, "He misses my and his mommy."

The girl lifted the little fur ball as high as she could. He doesn’t look scared at all, Oliver thought. If anything he looked like the happiest soul alive on the planet.

Oliver assessed his condition, was he too drunk to help the little girl? He slapped his glass on the table and walked around a bit, constantly looking at the girl from the corner of his eyes. He could walk perfectly fine. Oliver threw a Galleon on the table next to his half-finished beer and grabbed his coat. “Let’s go Dianne. We need to get Sambundeakin the puffskein home to your mommy don’t we.” He smiled, and opened the door motioning the girl to proceed and he followed her.

Biography:

It was not common for someone from a pureblood family to marry a muggle, however it wasn’t unheard of. An example of this would be the wedding of Arthur Kirwood to Alexis Page. The two of them gave birth to a boy in the year 1959, [or 1960 depending on the school year] the boy was named Oliver after his great grandfather. And so began his upbringing in the Kirwood family.

Fourteen years later, standing by the window, staring into the abyss of the starry night sky, Oliver could not stop being excited about going back to school. Thinking about his past he realized that he loved being in school so much more than being at home. Oliver clearly remembered the day he left for school, it was probably the best day of his life. How much he wanted to get away from home, away from his family. It was not that he hated his family, he loved his parents a lot. What he really hated was the way everything was so strict and absolute.

His childhood was different from other kids of his age. While kids would play and have fun in the grounds he would have to be in his house practicing charms or reading history. He often felt like running away but he dared not. It wasn’t because he was afraid of his parents but because he could not stand hurting them or making them feel bad. And most of all he knew a day would come when he would leave for school. ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’.

As a result of his childhood Oliver prefers being alone. He can’t stand being surrounded by noisy people and likes the quite. Oliver also has a wild side to him which doesn’t show itself very often. Oliver is sort of shy, he likes talking to people but takes a lot of time to open up to them. He has a few good friends who Oliver trusts but he never reveals his true feelings to anyone.

Oliver gets bored very easily and has a vivid habit of daydreaming to keep up with that. Oliver hates attending classes and often skips them. He is an average student when it comes to studies. He likes photography and has a muggle camera that was gifted to him by his mother when he left for school. Oliver loves to sail and does that when he is on vacation in the muggle world at his mother’s home. He like playing quidditch doesn’t dream to be on any teams.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Appearance:

Oliver is of average height (5’9”). He has natural black hair and black eyes. Oliver is thin (almost skinny) and looks much weaker than he really is. He is sort of shabby and never combs his hair. One would mostly find Oliver dressed in black, his favourite colour.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY

Option I:

Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.

'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'

Stupid Quidditch.

James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn't deserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.

Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.

As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'

It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Sample Role-play Response:

Already vexed by all the noise around them in the hall Oliver was overwhelmed by James’ unexpected outburst. “Pathetic, how am I supposed to deal with this pinhead?” he thought to himself. Without waiting to come up for an answer for himself, he raised his weird looking muggle camera and clicked. Oliver wondered how James would feel about this, not that it mattered at all, he was just curious.

The camera Oliver held made a buzzing sound and churned out a picture. Satisfied with the result, Oliver looked up at James, thanked him for the picture and started walking away. Oliver stopped just as he passed James and without turning back he said “You do realize that while you stand here whining, your team is probably looking for you to tell you how well you played today, except for that once of course. It’s not the end of the world. Move on.” And then he continued trying to get away from all that noise as soon as possible.

Suggestions & Questions / Last Date for applications

I believe the last date for submitting new applications was 30th April. The Student Application forum which was there moments ago has disappeared. Am I too late? If yes, can one still apply for the other two schools?

Hi!

I just joined here and this place is absolutely amazing and very nicely maintained. =)

There were a couple of things that I would like to sort out about the username.

1. Like the subject says, I totally messed up the name thing and now it'll have to be changed.

2. Coming to the character name itself - I'd like to use one of the pureblood family names mentioned in the Wiki page. The "Kirwood" family is 'open' so that shouldn't be a problem right? (Unless it's been changed??)

3. Finally ~ If "Kirwood" isn't a problem then could you please change the username to - Oliver Kirwood.

Thank you so much!! Really appreciate the help. =D
