Application for Hogwarts School

Name: Olivia Amelia Baudelair

Birthday: August, 4th, 1921

Hometown: Hartland, England

Bloodline:
Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Transfiguration

Year (pick two): 5th year/6th year

Biography:

Olivia has a rather unfortunate and tragic history.

Soon after Rebecca Anne Baudelair met Shawn Reaper, Olivia Amelia Baudelair was born. Olivia often dreamed of having a meeting like her mother and father did;—which her mother assured her was nothing but the most romantic, but she wouldn’t bore you with the details—she wanted to find the perfect boy, like love at first sight, but it hadn't seemed to happen yet. Though she hoped it would soon, she thinks it would have made her mother proud.

When Olivia turned eight, her mother was brought down with a sickly disease. She would be in bed for weeks and could barely speak a word. A little over a month after Olivia's eighth birthday, her mother died. Olivia had been sitting next to her mother at the time, and her mother’s last words had broken Olivia's heart into pieces.

"You must know it’s not your fault that I am dying. I can see the guilt in your eyes. My sweet child, forget your worries. Live on with a smile, one that will make others happy..."

She was gone. The light faded from her mother’s eyes, and Olivia had closed them softly, choking back a sob. Her father had burst in then, as if he knew what had happened, and furiously tossed Olivia aside. He had screamed at her mother to wake up, not yet accepting she was no longer there. Then he had turned on Olivia, in his crazy rage he had blamed her for her mother's death, being the one in the room when her mother had died. Olivia had never been the same after.

The eight year old, at the time, had blamed herself. Her father now despises her, never talking to her, blaming her for his wife’s death. Even at the mention of someone’s’ mother, Olivia would get rigid and white—it is too heartbreaking.

Her father had been like the king of Slytherin's in his day. He was very popular with them all, and turned out to be prefect and head-boy in his year. That's why, when Olivia entered Hogwarts, she used her mother’s last name. No one had ever suspected that Olivia was John's daughter. Olivia is ashamed of her father and how he lead his school life while in Hogwarts. John now works at the ministry as an aurora, and was rather good at it.

Her mother, when she went to Hogwarts, was a Ravenclaw with extraordinary talents. She had one of the highest test marks in the school and was a bit of a teacher’s pet, much like Olivia is. She had stood up for herself though, before anything serious could start, and was admired by Ravenclaws who were younger then she was. She'd kindly help them along and taught them never to back down. When her mother had moved in with her dad she had gotten a job at the ministry of magic as well, in the department of mysteries. She never told Olivia what she had done in her job, so she had always been curious.

There were some good points in her life though. She had learned to use magic when she was around five years old, a early bloomer. She had been taken to Diagon Ally by a friend’s family, despite her father’s protests. She had gone into Ollivander's demanding a wand, and had gotten her wish. She had been amazed with all the shops, and wanted to visit every one of them. Her father had been well paid, so she was good with her money and knew how to spend it wisely.

Throughout her time at Hogwarts, Olivia didn't have a lot of friends. She didn't particularly want any and focused on her studies, but she longed for someone to talk to. She was consistently bullied and walked upon for she was an easy target, and had trouble standing up for herself. Her father’s side of the family had been one of the purest of Slytherin blood, and being the first child he had, not being in Slytherin was a disgrace.

Overall, Olivia has had a pretty fine past, other than the incident of her mother’s death; there hasn't been anything odd that has occurred. Olivia assures herself that there will be no more tragic accidents or she wouldn't know what to do with herself, having dealt with what she has already.

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality:

Olivia has many unique traits that make her personality all the more interesting. She likes to keep to herself often, drawing away from people when she shouldn't. Olivia likes to make sure she doesn't give out any personal information to save herself from explaining herself to people. Her strange loner exterior often makes people curious. When it comes to her family life, she is often closed off. This makes her a loner at times and quite shy as well, though she is rather open when you get to know her better.

Olivia lives off people's smiles. When she makes a person smile, either with her sarcastic remarks or her funny jokes, she feels warm inside. Olivia is still a bit unwilling to make friends, afraid she'd end up hurting them. She if often insecure about herself and doesn't always know what to say. She often brings up depressing topics on accident, and that's what draws people away from her.

When you really get to know Olivia, she is hyper and bouncy and loves to drag you into things, but is smart about what she does. She tends to worry about you often and would risk her neck for you. She often apologizes for things that weren't her fault, and strains to keep a smile on her face to have you not worry about her. Her musical laughter, though, will surely have people laughing and smiling with her. More often than not, she loves to sit quietly in her dorm room, reading a muggle book or one of the textbooks with hot chocolate and the window open for a slight breeze.

Olivia has been bullied by other students since the day she came to Hogwarts. She is severely against violence and refuses to touch the peers who have messed with her in more ways than one. Her mother always told her never to touch a human soul, unless you were in dire need to do so. She often worries if she is going to turn out like her Slytherin father, which keeps her well away from being negative towards anyone at all.

Olivia can be quite a know-it-all as well. She loves to correct peoples grammar, and often corrects peoples papers, or points out how they did something wrong in a game of wizard chess. She gets competitive with games that have to do with thought, but is never a sore loser or an egotistical winner. One of her flattering traits is her passion to read and write. She often writes with fluency and can often read an eight hundred page book in a day and a half. She sketches as well, but never likes to gloat about it. When she has free-time she is either out on the grounds reading or in the library studying with classmates. Olivia has asked her teachers for homework ahead of time, so she has more free-time and is ahead of most of her classmates.

Olivia believes that most rules need to be followed, and being the follower she is, follows them exactly as they are written. At times though, some rules in her eyes are just plain unfair or they need to be broken. She never particularly likes breaking the rules, but if she must, she will.

Olivia often falls into her thoughts, where she goes off into her own world and doesn't snap out of it until you practically scream at her. She contemplates life, what is myth and what is real? She didn't know magic existed before she figured it out at an early age, so if magic exists what else can? Sometimes she tends to have flashbacks, and doesn't think clearly when some kind of an emotional memory washes over her. She believes the stars hold her memories along with all the truth in the world, and often gazes off at them in her free time.

A few other odd things about Olivia is that she feels responsible for wizards and witches younger than her. She feels as if she should be the one to lead them straight through a healthy life, not like she started out in school with the abuse that was put upon her.

She also has an OCD for cleaning and keeping things organized. For example, if she sees a sock on the floor she can try to walk out of the room, but she ends up coming back in and putting it in her trunk.

Olivia has a strange personality, but it's also unique. She loves to be who she is, and will not change for anyone. Though she may be odd at times, she will remain as is.

Appearance:

Hair.

She has her mother's brown locks, which are usually in curls. However, on occasion, she chooses to straighten it. Her hair has grown down to the middle of her back by now, not wanting to cut it, and is softer than ever.

Eyes.

She gets her beautiful, oval shaped eyes from her father. Her eyes are a wonderful milk chocolate color. They are unique, though, because they have golden flecks etched into them.

Face.

Olivia's head has an oval shape about it and she is quite content with its size. She has a round chin and a button nose. She hates her button nose though, for it makes her look younger and cuter than she wants to put herself off as. Her forehead is smooth along with her cheekbones. She absolutely loves how her cheeks have a natural blush, and she thanks her mother’s many generations for that feature. Her lips are thins and behind them she is hiding rather dazzling, pearly white teeth. Olivia puts on a fair amount of make-up, and even though she's more into impressing boys she doesn't cake it on like she is one of those celebrities. She often wonders what is so attractive about having a bunch of gunk covering your face. Doesn't it just make blemishes worse when you try to cover them up? Another reason why she doesn't wear tons of make-up is because she has very pale skin and a lot of make-up would show up a lot more vibrant against her tone of skin. Often people compared Olivia's pale skin to porcelain because she looks so fragile. Despite the fact that she loves spending time in the sun, she just can't get a tan. Her mother used to call her a "vampire" often when she was little, for along with her pale skin she has sharp canine teeth.

Build.

Olivia is now 5'6, having quite the growth spurt over the last year. She weighs around 120 pounds now as well. Olivia has become well defined in her body, everything having grown out to its practical full-ness over the past year. She has a wonderful hour-glass form, but she constantly tells herself her hips stick out a bit farther than they are suppose to, even more so now. She stays rather skinny, thanks to her high metabolism.

Style.

The way Olivia dresses has calmed down over the years, and isn't as exuberant or bright as it used to be. Most of the time she wants to usually wear just her dark blue and black school robes, but when she can't she loves to wear dresses in the warm seasons, and comfy sweaters and jeans in the colder seasons. Along with everything else to dress herself up, Olivia wears one silver bracelet and a large amount of anklets on her ankles. Why the bracelet? It was her mothers and has her name and Olivia's name carved into it. The anklets are for the many stages in Olivia's life. She puts a new one on about six months or so with some kind of representation of change.

“Isn’t it just strange that she always sits alone? Doesn’t she have any friends?”
“I’m not so sure. I’ve rarely ever seen her talking to anyone except in class, or to teachers. It really is a strange sight.”

With a sigh, Olivia Baudelair pushed a strand of her dark hair behind her ear and out of her face, trying to study hard while pretending to be oblivious to the girl mutterings at a table down from hers. She was in the library for Merlin’s sake. The only place she could really go outside of her dorm room, and she had to hear mutterings about sitting alone. It wasn’t that odd to sit alone and study, was it? She didn’t think so. She often saw Roman sitting alone—her childhood friend—in a corner of the library, quietly reading a book, and no one whispered about him! When she really couldn’t stand the murmurings any longer, Olivia closed her Herbology book with a huff and shoved it into her bag, slinging it over her shoulder and walking out of the library with an irritable expression plastered on her face.

Walking down the corridor at a lazy walk, the Hogwarts girl started to space off, not really seeing the people or faces that roamed back and forth down the corridors of her school. With a dreamy look in her eyes and her obliviousness towards other students at an all time high, Olivia began to think about what had been positive about that day, instead of dwelling on the negative. ‘Well, there was that potion we did today with the professor and I did really well…but the professor always tended to point out my mistakes, and nothing else…’ As the brunette tried to list off other positive things, her mind always resulted in the negative things that may have linked to the former. As the millionth frustrated noise exited Olivia’s mouth, she snapped out of her reverie and heard some other female calling down the hall towards Olivia’s retreating figure.

“Oh Merlin…” Muttered Olivia as she barely looked over her shoulder, hoping that she wouldn’t be bothered today by some screaming girl who would, undoubtedly, attract more attention than the Hogwarts student really needed. “Bollocks!” She exclaimed under her breath as the girl caught up to her and she quickly turned around, almost missing the tall girl’s exclamatory gasp. Instantly when Olivia heard she was with the newspaper, she held up a hand and was about to tell her that she didn’t care and just wanted to curl up in dorm room bed with a cup of hot cocoa and daydream out her window, but before even a word could slip out the brunette’s mouth, the girl kept talking, badgering her almost instantly with a question and the rest of the student body’s opinion.

Now, Olivia was never one to be mean or arrogant, she lowered her hand slowly and gave the girl a forced smile. She didn’t understand much about socializing, let alone striking up a conversation with a random girl from the school newspaper, so after the blond girl’s last word slipped out of her mouth, Olivia paused, unsure of what to say. She always thought before she spoke, and more often than not it made the conversation get awkward quite fast. With a look of what Olivia assumed was confusion—but could be different, since she didn’t understand expressions well upon strangers—the Hogwarts student tried to blurt out some quick answer. It came out as a mumble, something hardly coherent, and her pale face was suddenly streaked red in embarrassment. Oh, how she wished she was one of those girls whose words flowed smoother when conversing, and not just answering class questions.

“My opinion isn’t…I’m sorry, excuse me.” Was all Olivia could say before she took off around the girls shoulder, clearly getting weird looks from students, as she hit the next staircase and practically speed walked the rest of the way to her common room. Answering the trivia question of the day—which always seemed far too easy—she walked in sluggishly, slightly out of breath, and up to her dorm room. Plopping down on her bed, she let out a groan. “Why, oh why, did it have to be me?!” She asked herself, trying to forget the entire confrontation even happened.

Hi Olivia! Welcome to HS.net!

Your application looks great, just a couple small edits:
- This RPG was active during the time Olivia's father would have attended school (we know, we're way old), so we actually did have Prefect and Head Boy characters. If you could edit that out, that would be great.

- In your RP sample, the theory is that Astrid would respond to your post and your characters would interact. Please change your response from Olivia running away.

Just repost your edited version below and someone will be glad to take a look.

Thanks!

Trying to regain her composure, Olivia threw her hands behind her back, wringing them in the way she did when she was nervous, while biting the inside of her cheek, trying to will the redness from her face. “Look,” The sixteen year old started, trying to recover whatever dignity she had left, “I’m not interested in speaking for the paper, let alone about something as trivial as frogs appendages.” Though rarely anything mean or confrontational ever came from Olivia, not wanting to have questions thrown at her and possibly published later for the public eye was one of the reasons she’d have to act as such. Waiting for a more than likely negative response, Olivia’s warm brown eyes met the girls icy blue ones.
