Biography:
Most children have never experienced true wealth before. Yet, Ciara Mary-Anne Fernsby was born into it, on Christmas Eve, into a white London. Ciara was the Fernsby's first child, and they were delighted to finally give birth to one after miscarriages and failures to get pregnant. Carlo Fernsby, 37 at the time of Ciara's birth, made a name for himself, along with a great deal of wealth, as a private investor. It was in the workplace where he met a client that would go on to change his life: Eliza (then named) Hemingway, a private investigator, 31 at the time of Ciara's birth, who would like to gain support for her business. Yet, as they started conversing, the two found out that they were surprisingly similar - both were born into aristocratic families with high expectations for them, but both simply wanted to explore their passions. Slowly, steadily, they fell in love.

Ciara grew up in a household filled with magic. Her two pure-blood parents both regarded Muggles negatively, sometimes even bordering on blood purism. Yet she would "beg to differ" on that matter. Even though her parents agreed that they were staining the Wizarding World, Ciara had always believed that wizards should be judged on their ability, not their blood. Still, Ciara certainly could not live without the magic she was born into. She was homeschooled by tutors, introduced to all magical subjects she might learn about at Hogwarts. After mastering basic reading and arithmetics, her focus was shifted to magical subjects completely, such as Charms, Potions, History of Magic, and Defence Against the Dark Arts. One might think that such a child would only be interested in the subjects she was taught, but rather, Ciara found herself interested in Marine Magic, quite a little-seen field. Ciara's parents and tutors could never put down what got her interested in the subject. Could it be because of the books she somehow found and read?

Being an incredibly well-regarded pureblood, Ciara had many acquaintances - and even friends - in her social circle. Before her time at Hogwarts, Ciara never had any close friends, since most of her interactions were set up by her parents. Ciara experienced her First Instance of Magic at the age of three. Her tutor started by teaching her the alphabet, which she felt was a disrespect since she already knew the letters. Suddenly, the book flew out of Ciara's hands and hit the tutor by accident, scoring her a place in Hogwarts. It was only on 1st September on her first school year that she started to interact with people of her choice. Even though her facade is certainly intimidating and most other students face her with pure respect, admiration, or fear, what Ciara truly searches in a friend is a peer, someone who does not treat her as superior, rather someone who would always be there to support and talk with her, even to humble her. At Hogwarts, Ciara made a name for herself by extracurriculars and titles.

House Request: Slytherin

Personality:
Of course, being rich, beautiful, and intelligent didn't help with her arrogance, her vainness, her pompousness. Having grown up in one of the most prestigious pure-blood families in London, she had learnt to carry herself with pride. She was used to the attention, the belief in her superiority. Whether it be the pure boredom in her eyes, or her needle-like tongue, it wasn't hard for Ciara to gain respect, and even fear, with a simple interaction.

Yet under her callous, was immense intelligence. It was a quality she was born with, and one had never cared much for. Hence, despite her utter talent in logical reasoning, Ciara would always listen to her intuition in times of emergency, which she had no reason to doubt. Yet, as she grew, her fascination for the ocean grew with her. It was an uncontrollable desire, a longing, to go further than the beach, to explore its depths and creatures.

Ciara's trust is incredibly hard to gain. After all, being the heiress to incredible estates and wealths meant that backstabbers were always present. Often, she approached interactions without hopes to gain a relationship. It takes dedication and patience to become her friend. Yet, if she truly sees someone as such, they would receive her undying loyalty and honesty. For Ciara, her friends are the people she could be herself around - an intelligent, curious, and sometimes sassy young lady without caring for rules or expectations, simply pampered by the pureblood society.

Appearance:
Beauty was something Ciara took for granted. It was simply something she was born with. For her, beauty meant short, necklength blonde hair - hair so blonde it looked white. Just below low fringes that just about reached her eyebrows was set a pair of eyes so blue it seemed to pierce into souls. Her hair would be styled in the latest pureblood fashion, often curling up at its end. Being part of a wealthy pureblood family didn't help with her haughtiness. Always dressed in the latest in vogue clothes meant that fashion was one of her resorts for confidence. The up-to-date magical skincare products also evaded her from the downsides of puberty. Her suprior appearance was often a primary reason in her confidence and arrogance.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Roleplay Response:
Ciara did not have a proper reason to be in the dungeons. Then again, though, she did not need a proper reason. She was Ciara Mary-Anne Fernsby; with her status, her reputation, her skill, and her wealth, she figured that she had no use for the permission of others. Something about the dungeon intrigued her, whether it was it's icy smooth walls or the suits of armour that seemed to follow her with every step. Down here, she felt like the queen she should be, enigmatic, yet powerful. It was convenient that the Slytherin common room led right into the dungeons.

What she could not fathom, would be how a Gryffindor would get down here. For Ciara, the dungeons felt like Slytherin's front lawn. The Gryffindors had there own hallways. Could it be a possible test of courage into a pathetic sorority?- or part of a game of an uneventful Truth or Dare?- or could it simply be a tedious adventure by a dull first year? Ciara would never know. Then of course, the legend of Emma Birch was a rumour the younger students spread, one just as dull as the young wizards and witches themselves. To be in search of a myth was nothing but a time-waster.

Ciara heard footsteps - right with caution - slowly manoeuvring down the corridor. If fear was present in the footsteps - which it was -, then tensing would be a waste of energy. It was probably a child, one still filled with naïvety. They should learn soon not to find themself down here. Ciara came to a stop in the corridor, curious to know who was accompanying her in the dungeons. How ironic would it be if the student was indeed searching for Emma Birch?

A nervous wreck of a greeting reverberated on the walls, revealing herself to be female. The dungeon was not unlike a whisper gallery and Ciara could hear her words despite the volume the student meant it to be. Ciara was just about to reveal herself, but she stopped as the girl started to speak once more. Ciara had to contain a laugh as her affair indeed revealed to be the myth of Emma Birch, the departed sixteen-year-old Slytherin. Perhaps she could only applaud the girl's bravery.

Taking a turn in the corridor, Ciara found herself to be directly facing the girl. 'No, she isn't. But, I don't suppose she would find it pleasant to get acquainted with you,' playing along sarcastically, her stance intimidating and her voice cold.

(Note: It is totally permitted for Ciara to be tutored in Charms and Defense against the Dark Arts from a theoretical perspective before Hogwarts. Just make sure you don't say that she was practicing spells with a wand, since that would be underage magic.)
