Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Cordelia Rhodes was born into one of the oldest  pureblood families in England. The youngest daughter of Henry Rhodes and Euphemia Rhodes, little Cordelia Rhodes grew up in the lap of luxury, in a world that offered her every privilege and celebrated not only her natural cunning and ruthless nature, but also the purity of the blood in her veins.

When she turned eleven, Cordelia joined her siblings in Hogwarts. She had always been more competitive and ambitious than they, and it was to no ones surprise when she was sorted into Slytherin where she thrived, quickly rising up the social ladder with her aptitude for wit and charm.

When she turned fifteen, Cordelia developed a crush on one of her classmates. He was nothing like her. A Gryffindor and a halfblood, Sebastian Taylor was not only not a pureblood, but a boy whose family were firmly rooted in the middle class. It wasn’t a romance that was meant to be, but Cordelia did not care and pursued it anyway, dating him for an entire term before he ditched her for another girl in school who had little connections and no inheritance. Completely slighted, Cordelia’s fury over the breakup was something she did not live down for a very long time. Hurt and angry, she was stunned that she had even contemplated imaginings of marrying him, an act that would have instantly risked her inheritance and her place in the Rhodes family. And what was the point then of marrying beneath one’s station? If she were to have a man at all, she vowed she would have the richest man, and only one as pure as her.

When she turned sixteen, much to the family’s horror, Cordelia’s older brother ended up breaking a promise of marriage to his betrothed and running off to eventually marry a half blood witch. The act was a great blow to the family, not just because of reputation, but unknown to her at the time, Henry Rhodes had overstretched their assets and had lost a great amount of money in several poor investments abroad. His son’s marriage had been arranged in hopes that he would marry well and thereby save the Rhodes family from financial ruin.

Over the next decade, the Rhodes family did their best to keep up appearances, mostly managing to remain to appear among the upper echelons of society by the skin of their teeth. It was a period of time that made Cordelia bitter against her father for his poor investments and against her brother for damning them all to life of relative poverty with his imprudent marriage. Not that her wrath towards her brother mattered. He had been blasted off the family tree by their own furious mother, who thereafter did nothing but bemoan her loss of her son and blame everyone around her for everything.

When she turned twenty-two, Cordelia was betrothed to Landon Grey. He was handsome and more importantly ridiculously rich, and she decided that he was a suitor deserving of herthat he made a worthy husband. Their personalities unfortunately could be no more different. She sharp and bright with an interest in the family businesses, while he was dull and only interested in hunting and playing polo. However, her father-in-law quickly saw her potential in family affairs and gave her work which she handled with vicious capability, turning her into a shrewd woman for business in ways that her husband would never be. She happily left her family after the wedding, and thought little of their needs, determined to put her best foot forward with her new family and in-laws. Cordelia Grey ended up having two children with Landon, Malcolm her son and Little Annora two years later.

When Cordelia was forty-two, Annora ran off and married a Muggleborn. Needless to say, just like her own brother, Annora too was then dead to the family forever. It was definitely one of the darkest times in Cordelia Grey’s life. However, instead of falling into a medicated state of depression, Cordelia, ever the fighter, simply poured all her love and attention into her son and grandson instead as well as helping the family grow their wealth.

At sixty-four, Cordelia is very much the Grey family matriarch, especially in light of recent events that have cruelly taken her precious son from her. Despite the mounting evidence and the fact that deep down she always knew what he had been doing, she still would tell anyone who listened that there must surely have been some mistake, that her son Malcolm Grey is no killer.

Roleplay Response:
For the life of her, Cordelia Grey could not remember the girl’s name. All she knew about her was that she was a young little thing, barely properly into her career as a reporter or whatever she fancied herself to be. Not one of import — at least not yet — which was why she was out here, fishing for news among the wizarding public like a fish out of water. A rather pathetic endeavour to be sure, and one that Cordelia Grey would have had no interest in had she been any less desperate.

Still, knowledge was power, and news was, well news, and while she would very much rather a more influential reporter in her pocket, there really wasn’t time to be picky.

And as the silver-haired woman watched from her position on the crowded street as the red-haired witch got up from wallowing on her bench, a cold, enterprising smile flashing across her thin lips, Cordelia moved towards where the broken heel had landed before casting a silent summoning spell.

And as she strode towards the younger woman, the most gentle, almost motherly smile on her face, Cordelia Grey stopped before her, the heel still held in one hand.

“Oh my dear, what rotten luck!” With a look of compassion and patience, Cordelia indicated towards the same seat that the red-head had risen from not a moment earlier.

“How about we take a seat and I help you with that? It’s always difficult on days like there when you don’t have any friends.”
