Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Alfrida Sunneva Darwin

Birthday: August 16th

Hometown: Derbyshire, England

Bloodline: Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): Third year pls, as this is the year she would be going into if I hadn't forgot to post she was returning to the castle heh. If not, second year.

Biography:

The elders could stare at her all they wanted, Alfrida was not going to eat her brussel sprouts. Or her broccoli. Green vegetables were the horriblest (if that were even a word) and every evening there was a long and tedious war where she kept behind after dinner until she finished her food, along with the other children who didn’t care for the nasty, squishy, tree looking abominations that were constantly forced down their throats.

Even the smell of them made her gag.

And she didn’t see why she couldn’t have extra potatoes instead, or better yet, extra dessert. Then perhaps she’d consider eating all of her food instead of sneaking it upstairs to give to Diana, the runt from a litter of kittens birthed on the manor grounds. She may have been small, a little ugly too, but Alfie fully insisted on making it hers and then she'd never have to eat her vegetables again.

“Layla..” The girl Alfrida was hissing to was in fact called Lei-Li, but she liked the nickname just fine, “Will you eat my sprouts?”

Bright blue eyes gleamed with hope as she begun to slide her half filled plate across the table, not really allowing the girl to make a decision. Alfie even blinked a couple of times, fluttering her eyelashes as if that would make the decision any easier but whilst staring down the girl, she failed to notice the shadow cast down on them both from behind.

It could only really be one person and once the stern voice cut through the sudden silence, an unapologetically blatant huff escaped her before accepting her fate once again.

an hour later

There were 12 of them, all sat together in a line with their plates in front of them whilst being watched from a far. The children couldn't see them, but they could feel them, and that was enough to keep them somewhat quiet whilst they tried to force the rest of their dinner down their throats.

Perhaps it was a little severe, but the elders insisted it was for their own good and spoke of vitamins and minerals along with the strength and stamina it would give them. Alfrida didn't care and it was as plain as day on her face, however she nodded and agreed to what was said anyway as it was better than getting in even more trouble. She didn't want to spend a day in the library with Miss...Miss... Miss something she could never pronounce, who was even more bossy than she was.

And not only that, she ate liquorice so often her teeth were almost always black.

Alfie prodded a green stalk with the tines of her fork, her lips pursed in disgust as she continued to put off eating what she should have already. Some were stubborn like her, but others had already given in which called for whispered taunts and insults before the rest of them continued with their strike. On her left was Galileo, a troublemaker who almost never got caught, and on her right was Xenon, a stout lad with less common sense than her best friend.

"Go on Xe, you know you wanna." She whispered, watching him as he almost finished clearing his plate, "I'll let ya' have Vesta's dessert tomorrow."

Someone sniggered but she was too busy trying to buy her way out of what she considered to be certain death. Always dramatic, but never out of ideas.

"Why can't I have yours?" His mouth was half full causing her to roll her eyes, though she tried her very best not to visibly gag despite how plain gross she and most of the girls at The Deimos Institute thought he was, "Eh?"

"Because it's mine."

She wasn't really going to give him Vivi's dessert, but saying so sounded much more believable than so easily giving up her own. Tomorrow was the fourteenth of March, making it pie day and she'd rather freeze in an Icelandic winter than let chubby next to her eat her slice lemon meringue.

Besides, if she tried hard enough, she was sure that Vivi would let him.

"She'll sing to you too if ya' like."

The group erupted in giggles then as Alfrida wiggled her brows, the Scandinavian tones of her voice teasing the boy like many did. It was a well-known fact that Vesta was tone-deaf, making her offer a deal breaker and so Xenon finished his plate and left with a scowl.

It was worth a shot, now onto the next.

House Request: Hufflepuff like she was before pleaseee!

Personality: Alfrida is a Leo and she's very proud of that fact, though, it also provides an explanation for her somewhat brash personality. She is an extrovert and has ADHD, making her loud, impulsive, and restless. When she's feeling particularly fidgety, Alfrida grinds her teeth and bounces her leg. Now that she's a teenager, the people around her are often victim to her mood springs, in which she often grows snappy and intolerant and won't hesitate, perhaps more so than usual, to tell you where to stick it. She is someone with an opinion on everything and everyone, and of course, her opinions are the right ones. Despite her flaws, however, Alfrida is ultimately warm and comical, comparable to a ray of pure sunshine.

Appearance: Alfrida has always been skinny, and despite entering her teen years she is yet to fill out like one might expect. She has long platinum hair that is either worn down and allowed to fry free or in a very high pony tail which is then secured with a hair tie that is either obnoxiously bright or accompanied by a fun decoration. People often ask where's she's from due to her unique facial features, which she's incredibly expressive with and has begun to accentuate with light makeup. Though, she likes to experiment with bright lipsticks like she sees in magazines. When Alfrida is not in uniform, she dresses femininely and maintains a very casual style, which she puts far more effort into than anyone would ever expect. She can usually be found wearing yellow trainers (ones that resemble a modern Chuck Taylor) and likes to accessorise with gold jewellery.

For a child that could navigate the stars so well, Alfrida truly lacked direction.

She had been wandering through the dungeons for twenty minutes now, first with determination but now with an absent mind as she had finally realised her escape was futile. It was undoubtedly her own fault for having been nothing but a distraction in potions, which resulted in being kept behind after class, however, she failed to realise why wanting to make friends was a bad thing.

(Sure, she had been a little loud, maybe even obnoxious, and she definitely timed her words so terribly that often she heard more often than Professor whatshername, but she meant well. That was what mattered.)

In all honesty, it wasn’t that complicated. Little Alfie just didn’t realise how many circles she had been walking in, or how many portraits she had already seen. The details didn’t stick, and everything kind of looked the same in comparison to her home in Derbyshire where there was a constant change in aura depending on where you were in the manor. She was so used to such idiosyncrasy that being somewhere considerably normal to everyone else was… unsettling.

She didn’t hate it. Really, she didn’t. She just didn’t get it.

“H-h-hello?”

If not for the eery silence of the dungeons, Alfrida wouldn’t have heard the timid sounding voice. At first she froze, questioning if she had really heard anyone at all before pulling her cardigan -- which was a tad too big -- back up onto her shoulder and following the direction she thought the voice was coming from.

And what a relief it was when she finally saw the silhouette of a fellow student.

“Hello! Is Emma Birch here?”

“Is that the dead one? Or is that the sulky lookin’ one?”

House Request: Hufflepuff! Then I’ll have a baby in every house.

Personality: A loud extrovert that lacks tact. She unknowingly has ADHD, which often makes her restless, inattentive, and impulsive -- not to mention impatient! When she is feeling particularly fidgety, Alfrida grinds her teeth and bounces her leg. Ultimately, however, Alfrida is warm like the sun with a love for all things celestial and bright.

Appearance: A skinny kid with long platinum hair and bright blue eyes. You can tell she isn’t fully English due to her unique facial features, which she's incredibly expressive with. Due to being used to uniform, her personal style is casual but feminine.

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Type your response here.

It wasn’t often that she and the other children were allowed to travel so far from home, but once every month or so they all got together to pick the very one place they’d like to spend the day which allowed them some excitement and freedom in their usually very regular, but somewhat restricted lives.

“I want to go to the Stonehenge.” Said one, but they had been there before and the forecast was rainy, which would result in grumpy and exhausted children.

“How about a museum?” Said another, but some taught against their current curriculum and so they were out of the question.

To make it brief, trying to decide where all fifty children of The Deimos Institution wanted to go was a terribly difficult task, but if they couldn’t decide on somewhere they didn’t get to go at all which meant compromise was crucial. Related by blood they might not have been, but their bond was far stronger as they were family by choice.

Eventually they decided on Hogsmeade, a small wizard town they had heard of in Scotland which they were yet to visit. It wasn’t too far from Hogwarts either, a school that they would be attending one day which made many of the children rather curious and once their decision was finalised and their guardians were informed, they set off the very next weekend.

On the bus, a large lady with a behind the size of Saturn itself took the register and one by one their names were called. Alfrida was always one of the first and at the sound of her name she raised her hand and offered a bright smile before turning back to her best friend, a gap toothed girl with hamster like cheeks and next to no common sense, continuing their conversation with the same childish enthusiasm they had begun it with and didn’t stop for breathe until the vehicle they travelled in came to a halt.

What was actually a 6 hour journey had felt like 10 minutes to them.

At exactly 12pm and after a large lunch, each of the children were given the chance to go wild with an allowance of 15 sickles per child, plenty enough to buy them some sweets or maybe a small toy to play with. Alfrida cared for neither, instead wanting to invest in some socks as hers had holes in them and she was running out of obnoxious patterns to wear, but first --

“Alfieee, let’s go to the park! There’s swings.”

The blonde wrinkled her nose. She did like swings, and there was always time to buy socks later, meaning it surely wouldn’t hurt to make a small diversion. They could probably get ice cream on the way too and she loved ice cream -- her favourite flavour currently being banoffee.

"Only," She took Vivi's hand and begun to pull her towards the park which wasn't far at all, "If you get sprinkles for our ice cream."

Unsurprisingly, there was no objection. Vesta always had more pocket money than everyone else (Alfrida often wondered if parents were of the Gods, why else would she be so rich?) and if she were going to share it with anyone, it was her. They were practically sister's after all, meaning what was Vesta's was Alfrida's and what was Alfrida's was, well, Alfrida's.

It was bad enough living with fifty others where her stuff was often stolen or 'borrowed' without asking her, which made for a sometimes selfish and possessive child that got rather cranky when having to share. There was one girl in particular that made a point of annoying her constantly. She had dark skin and sunken eyes and most importantly she was a Pisces, making her a bigger brat than she was.

"You!"

And speak of the devil.

Alfrida had wholeheartedly been hoping that she wouldn't try and play with them today. Though, she didn't see why she would. The dislike was mutual and often resorted to food fights at dinner and poorly thought out pranks.

"...Do you want to play?"

There was no hesitation with a response, nor had she turned around to see who it was who was actually talking to her, "No. No we don't."

If she had, she would know that it wasn’t who she thought it was, but Alfrida was a child so sure of herself that even when she was wrong, she was right, which meant she didn’t wish to know the true identity of the person despite seeing the look of shame on her best friend’s face.

“So go away, or I’ll tell the elders.”
