Biography:

For her father Harry Abbott-Van Droombeeld their home of Gottschalk Pennsylvania was a place with a floo that connected him to the outside world, and where his wife wanted to live.  For Uli it was a home that she was happy to come back to whenever her father took her to other places in the wizarding world.  A world that in her opinion moved to fast and acted rather oddly especially recently.  Her father and others seemed to be confused and forgetting things, yet she didn't notice anything change over the winter prior.  Certainly nothing changed in the wizarding village of Gottschalk Pennsylvania.

Her father worked for the American Ministry of Magic as a part of the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad.  Her mother Martha Gottschalk is one of the three teachers who teach at the local school Habicht Academy of Magic - a two room school house for ages 7-15.  So naturally unlike her father she followed her mothers path of wizarding education going to Habicht Academy of Magic until she graduated from there then would go to Salem.  As her father thought that all children should stay in school until there seventeenth year, not leave early for farming or trade jobs as was common.

Now she was sixteen she realized she got the bad end of the deal between her parents.  Where the other two kids in her year that had stuck around Gottschalk and continued with school they had a choice.  A choice that at the end of summer resulted in both of her classmates staying home, but at least there were some younger children from her village going to Salem.

At sixteen she had more than enough education for whatever she'd need to do.  The summer prior even she had helped out as a healers assistant at the community clinic.  Of course the clinic didn't handle large medical issues as those issues were sent to a hospital outside the community, but she could see herself staying there and doing such.  Gottschalk Pennsylvania only needed two healers and the ones at the clinic were both young enough that becoming a healer would mean she'd have to leave home to work.  Meaning that becoming a clinic assistant which required no further education would have been a good enough job for her.

The concept of that horrified her father.

Yet, made sense to her and many others living in the community.  Members typically fell into jobs that the community needed and that they would be satisfied doing.  The idea of ambition and competing for things was rather foreign to her and most the people she knew.

Even worse she had younger siblings and her father was beginning to get on them to make the more competitive before they were sent to Salem.  At least she'd get to go to Salem first and see how the place really was.  As she suspected her father would be sending some of them early as the realization that his daughter had no ambition had shocked him.

"How about I write the essay and stuff? You can just put your name on it. Sound good?"

She looked up as she was leafing through the book that she had in front of her.  She had heard of the civil war as apparently that was when one of her great great grand fathers had escaped the south and made his way north.  A way that once he'd made it to the first wizarding community sent him in the direction of Gottschalk Pennsylvania as there was no better hiding place for a wizard who was enslaved to escape muggle masters than a secretive wizarding village.  She knew her great grandfather was lucky he ran into that wizard who had left the community to become an Auror.

Though beyond that and stories that were passed down she knew nothing of the civil war.

Biting her lip she said " If you want to. "  It seemed odd as the boy had just slammed a book which couldn't mean he was really interested in this.  Uli said " Why do you want to do it all?  You don't even like it. "  Though she realized that at home when things came up in school she did the things she was best at and the others in the class did the things they were best at.  As what really mannered was the class learned as much as they could and demonstrated as a group they got the concepts.

Tilting her head she said " I don't know anything of muggles except for stories of people who had to deal with them, but I can try to find some useful things. "  As she was smart enough to know that she wasn't good at writing feet of parchment.  So Simon was right it would be better if he did it and she signed her name.
