Biography: (300 words minimum.)

Chaedi's childhood was nothing so terrible or great, aside from the fact that she knew she was different from most of the other children in the orphanage. She had learned at an early age to keep her abilities quietly to herself. Even her childhood best friend, Justin James, wasn't privy to the strange things she could do. You see, Chaedi was an astute girl, and realized that different, to these children and adults, usually equated to bad. And bad meant she was shipped off somewhere far worse than the orphanage she lived in.

Like many orphaned children, she didn't get a direct letter from Hogwarts, it was one of the many faculty members that had come to get her. (If that's okay, I'll leave whomever it possibly could have been up to you guys.)

Her school life was an interesting one. She excelled at Charms and Transfiguration and Potions. It was during her copious studies in the library that she found a section of transfiguration that piqued her interest. Animagus. This was during her third year.

From the start of one full moon, to the next, she carried a mandrake leaf in her mouth. A full month, if you will. Then, she found a crystal phial that had basked in the rays of the full moon. Into this she put the leaf and a strand of hair. She then collected a silver teaspoon of dew from a place within the Forbidden Forest that no foot had tread upon, and no ray of sunlight had touched for a full seven days. She stole the chrysalis of a Death Headed Hawk moth and put into the phial. Upon doing that, she stored it away and put it out of mind. At least until the next electrical storm.

While waiting for the transformation, she placed her want over her heart every morning, and every night, reciting these words. “Amato Animo Animato Animagus.” There came a time, that when the tip of her want touched over her heart she sensed a second heartbeat!! However, she never stopped the daily and nightly ritual of reciting the incantation.

Upon the very next storm she hurried to the hidden spot she had for the vial, somewhere deep and dark within, once again, the Forbidden Forest. When she grabbed the vial, within it was a blood red potion, just as the books said it would be! She placed her wand against her heart, and spoke once more the words, “Amato Animo Animato Animagus!” Chaedi then drank the potion. Within her mind appeared the form of an Ocelot. Her first transformation was the most painful thing she'd ever experienced. Her second and third weren't much greater than the first. Over the years, though, she learned to slip in and out of the form at will. (This is the highlight of her school years, at least, to herself.)

Dutiful, she did her work and studied hard, excelled on the NEWTs and OWLs and as school went on, she left Hogwarts more a woman than a child.

Chaedi applied for a job at the Ministry and worked her way up to being an Auror. Now at the age of thirty three, she finds that she visits the Forest when she can sneak off for a while. But sticks mostly just goes where she is needed.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:
Snow. Chaedi loved the snow! She loved the way the chill air burned in her lungs when she drew a deep breath, loved the way someone smelled when they freshly came in from outside, in the winter. She loved how she could stand in the middle of the streets in the dead of the night and just listen to the soft falling snow. It offered a quiet that was unlike any other.

But after a few days, the freshness of the snow was gone. It was dirty, muddy, and just all around nasty. Made sidewalks treacherous and roads an absolute nightmare. It put people in a terrible mood and did little to cool those hot tempers.

Yeah, the novelty of it wore off far too soon.

Sighing, the small, dark skinned woman was just about to step across the street when behind her an elderly gentleman slipped. Down came the box of tinsel, causing the ornate stuff to fly everywhere. She was COVERED!

Her first emotion was irritation, it flashed in eyes that were likened to the foam of the sea. Such a strange contrast to the ebony of her skin and short cropped hair. She had turned, mouth screwing up to snap out a sharp reply when the twinkle of the tinsel caught the light just so, and glittered all over the old gent. She suddenly started laughing, running her small hand over her head to swipe off some of the decoration and toss it up in the air. “Happy Christmas Granda!! S'no worry at all luv!” What might have ruined another person's day seemed to have just made hers. Winking she withdrew her own wand, “Scourgify!” Soon enough the mess was all tidied up in the box once more.

She gave him a two finger salute before turning and heading on her way.
