Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Andromeda Sorin was born to parents she could not remember in a place and time she could not recall. Anytime she tired, it felt like looking through a glass dimly, where all the faces were obscured and the names eluded her. What she did remember, was attending Hogwarts and learning magic. She remembered having to work hard, perhaps harder than those who had been born into the magical community, to obtain her goals.

She had busted her butt to get as near perfect grades as she could in Hogwarts. Then she had worked even harder to get and keep an internship at the Ministry, fighting tooth-and-nail to keep her spot every year. She had applied to absolutely every department, until she finally landed a spot on the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee. Even then, Andi expected to have to work twice as hard and fight every hour of every day to keep her job. To her surprise, the fight never came. In fact, it seemed she was rather secure in her position, as most purebloods, and even half-bloods seemed to think it beneath them.

Being the only other person on the Committee, she was the natural successor when the head retired. She enjoyed her new position for about a year before it happened. The Wizengamot, in all their infinite wisdom, passed a law. In that moment, everything that she had worked to hard to achieve and keep was ripped from her faster than she could blink. She was instantly downgraded from the head of a Committee in the Ministry, to a class of sub-citizenry that seemed to rank below vermin (for even the mice got crumbs).

With no where to turn for work, and even less options for purchasing sundries, Andi retreated back to Muggle society. She had almost given up on ever being able to return to life as she had known it, when she heard that a new Minister had been elected. Once she heard that Muggleborns could once again work at the Ministry (although not in positions of leadership), she decided it was time to return after all.

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
Andi rounded the corner just in time to see a young lady fall among the crowd. Having been one of the downtrodden for as long as she was, the blonde wasn't about to let this girl be literally trampled. She hurried over, taking up a discarded shoe in the process.

"Here, let me help," she said. With a quick move of her wand and a well -placed sticking charm, the heel was reattached to the shoe. She handed the shoe back to its owner. Then recognition dawned on her face.

"You're that gal from the Prophet that's been trying to ask people's thoughts, aren't you?" And had walked past her earlier without a second thought. From the looks of things, she'd had no luck, either.

"Here's a quote for you, then, from an anonymous source," Andi offered as she extended a hand to help the lady up. "It's high time there was a Minister that was willing to give people a chance, rather than taking everything from those who work the hardiest to get where they are."

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Andi Sorin had lived with her mother all her life. Her father had died years ago, and her mother had never remarried. After secondary school she'd found work at a shop. She hated working there, but it was a steady paycheck nonetheless. If she wasn't at home with her mum or working, she could be found spending time with her boyfriend. All in all, her life was pretty normal…..and dull. Until one day when a mysterious stranger showed up and saved her life. After helping him with a spot of plastic trouble she was shown his home: a big blue police box that was bigger on the inside and….oh wait….wrong genera.

Andromeda Sorin was born to Alex and Lexi Sorin. For eleven years she'd grown up thinking that magic was a fairy tale, and not believing a bit of it. That was, at least, until she got a letter from a prep school up north called Hogwarts. Neither she nor her parents knew anything about the school, except that it said on the letter that she was already accepted. That struck her as strange at the time, as did the school claiming to be one of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She had been tempted to tell her parents to send a letter back saying ‘Thanks, but no,’ except curiosity had gotten the better of her. Worst case scenario, she could decide the school was as much rubbish as she suspected, and write her parents to pull her out after a month or so. Seven years later, she was a full-fledged witch.

After school, she took up an internship with the Ministry of Magic, where she learned a lot of the structure and politics of the Ministry. Her three year internship with the Ministry landed her a job in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes under the Head of the Muggle-Worthy Excuses Committee. Outside of secretarial work, Andi began studying Muggle excuse tactics. She had a leg up on the subject, being Muggleborn and all, but that didn't stop her from studying the subtleties of a convincing lie. It also didn't stop her from listening to what Muggles told themselves when magic stared them right in the face. More often than not, she was forced to reflect on her own childhood, analyzing what she had told herself during those eleven years that she had thought magic was complete rubbish. Some of the excuses she had come up with when there was no other explanation but magic were just….. well, they were downright creative.

Being the only other member of the Muggle-Worthy Excuses Committee, she was also the natural successor when the Head of her sub-department retired. She had stepped up immediately to fill the gap, and found herself wishing for an assistant she did not have. She liked to bounce ideas off of people, and was starting to resort to feeding her parents excuses about issues. If they would buy it, it was a fair bet that the rest of the populace would as well.

ROLEPLAY
Reply as your character to the following:

It was impossible for Dianne to stay out of trouble. It wasn't that she was looking for trouble, it's just that trouble always managed to find her. Today she wished she could find something equally familiar but more comforting.

The five-year old girl hugged her puffskein closer to her and brushed her face in its soft fur for comfort. She had named him herself and he was always her special pet. No she was certain she had never gone down this side street before. Her anxiety increased every second as darkness fell as she walked down the road. A loud noise came to her left and she buried her face in her pet's fur completely. The scared girl bolted the opposite way slamming the both of them into the wall of the nearest building. Tottering back a few steps she found a door a few feet to her right and ran to open it. What light there was inside spilled out into the darkness and she spilled into the room.

Once in, she was caught between the impulse to curl her cloak up more tightly around her and loosen her grip on it. She wasn't alone anymore but she was now among strangers instead, which was nearly as terrifying. Her puffskein had recovered from the shock of the wall and now was purring contentedly as the girl hugged it, causing a mildly calming effect on the girl. Gathering her courage, she marched up to the nearest person, pulled on the nearest clothing hem and blurted out in a loud voice:

"I'm lost and it's dark and I wanted to know where I am but I'm not scared but I am worried that Sambundeakin is scared because he's little and needs something to eat and wants to go home."

She paused to draw a breath in her nearly never-ending sentence, "He misses my and his mommy."

To explain the scared girl held up the custard-colored puffskein. Sambundeakin the puffskein, however simply purred as if nothing on earth was wrong in the world.

Roleplay Response:
London was always a fun place to be. It was also one of the first places that she would expect to have to make an excuse about something magical. The Ministry itself was right under their feet, and the Muggles in the town didn't know a single thing about it.

That wasn't a problem, though. The Ministry didn't run into any of the Underground tunnels, and no one knew about the phone box that was also an elevator. How like life, a phone box that travels through space….even if it is only a short space. No, her problem right now was a little girl tugging on the coat hem of a nearby man, and shoving a puffskein toward him while transferring her own fear at being hungry and lost at dusk to her purring puffball.

Even though she was off work, Andi had a job to do. The man looked startled, and more than a little confused by the custard coloured puff of fur that was currently being thrust toward his face by the diminutive child. Without much thought, she walked over, and tried to corral the child away from the startled man.

"I'll take care of this," she offered by way of an explaination, "I saw the girl with her mother not long ago." she was lieing, but that was probably of less concern to the man than helping the girl with the custard puff.

"What is that thing," she heard him ask .

"Pomeranian," she called back over her shoulder. Then she looked down at the girl. "Come now, let's go find your mother."
