Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Growing up in California had been a dream. They lived in a little house on the beach where the shadows almost never touched them. They were a tight knit and close family, Nik and Adela were the most loving and accepting parents any kid could ask for. They were always incredibly accepting and encouraging of their children’s dreams.

The only dark shadow she could recall growing up was when her sister Juliette left them for London when Rory was only 10 years old. Rory didn’t understand why she would ever want to leave the sunshine. Not that she had very long to dwell on it. Not long after she left, Rory was thrown into the exciting world of magic, studying at Bayou Annunciation at the request of a close friend who attended the school.

For the first 5 years of her education, she studied at Bayou. She liked it there quite a lot, their unique approach to magic sinking into her bones quickly. But as she got a little older, she grew restless. She wanted to be closer to her family and closer to the sunlit beaches she called home. So she finished up her education at Valle del Sol High School. She loved it there, too. They had a stronger focus on muggles, but Rory liked that approach. She liked getting her hands dirty. Despite being a pureblood, she didn’t have an elitist bone in her body.

After graduation, she was a little lost, unsure of what to do with her life.

That was when she met Matthew. Matthew took her under his wings at the nature preserve he volunteered at. She learned a lot in the time she worked there, working her way up from volunteer to higher staff quickly, taking on more responsibility as she went. She loved it there and she loved Matthew for making it possible.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take too long before she also learned how manipulative and wrong Matthew was for her after she found herself pregnant with his child. He denied it, and spread horrible lies about her, forcing her out of the preserve that she was working her way up in. Her reputation was ruined, and she lost most of the people she was close with.

Once more she was feeling lost in her own skin. But she couldn’t give up.

With a little girl to raise, she found herself secluded and friendless and all on her own. She was too ashamed to go back to her family and hid herself away, burying herself in odd jobs that she found here and there.

All the while she was planning and saving.

The sun started to feel suffocating to her and she did the only thing she could think of. She didn’t clear anything with her family, including his sister, Juliette in London. She packed up her things and traveled to London to be near her sister, showing up with no notice with nothing but a duffle slung on her shoulder and a toddler on her hip. She was going to build her life up on her own terms, away from everyone in her past.

The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

It was snowing.

Rory smiled, holding out an ungloved hand to catch the puffy flakes in the palm of her hands. They settled against her warm skin and almost instantly melted. At home in California, she’d lived in an area almost under constant sunlight. Which meant she rarely met with snow.

She made her way too quickly across the slick ground, slipping and sliding every once in a while. But she didn’t mind. The whole place looked like it was out of a Christmas storybook, everything decorated in a delicate layer of white.

There was, surely, no better place to spend the Holidays.

A sudden shouting from behind her caught her attention. A man tipping to the ground. “Oh!” Rory said, turning quickly, too slow to help. Instead she looked at the pretty tinsel getting mucked up in the snow. “Here,” she said, reaching for some of the tinsel, “Let me help you. Are you alright?”
