Suggestions & Questions / Elsewhere Question

Is it normal that I can only see the information and OOC areas of the Elsewhere board but not anything else? My application was already accepted at the Sorting Hat, and I thought that would give me access to Elsewhere as well, or is that not correct? I'm trying to catch up on your plot but most threads are blocked. Could someone help me, please?  (But I don't mean to be impatient :) ; I can also wait.)

Biography:

Second Day of Summer Break, London, England
„Did you pack everything, dear?“ His aunt’s voice rang up the stairs, just as Hendrik rolled off his bed for the last time. The boy looked around his room before he answered. Boxes over boxes and quite a few bags full with items that either belonged to him or to his younger brother. He hadn’t known that they possessed this much when he was helping with the packing. However, now, as everything was packed away it didn’t look all that much to him. “Hendrik?” his aunt’s voice was louder now, and as he turned around to answer her, the boy saw her standing in the doorway. “I’m sorry, Aunt Marianne,” he immediately said for not answering her sooner. “I think everything is ready.” Before he left to follow his aunt back down the stairs, he gave his old room one last look. “Goodbye,” he muttered and turned to leave.

Two Weeks into Summer Break, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany
“Rik?” Hendrik opened his eyes as he heard his brother’s voice from the other bed. “Rik? Are you awake?” He grunted and sat up in the darkness. “It’s sleeping time, Dom! Are you having bad dreams again?” Sometimes it was a pain sleeping in the same room with his 7 year old brother. The boy just wouldn’t stop talking at times, or wake him up too early in the morning at others. Now it seemed different though. His little brother’s voice sounded scared. Again. “Can you make some light, Rik?” Hendrik sighed at that and automatically shook his head, before he realized that Dominik couldn’t see well in the dark. “Sorry, but no. You don’t want Uncle Heinrich to come in, do you? So keep your voice down too!” Hendrik whispered back. Then he heard a sob and his brother rapidly breathing in and out. “Oh no,” he muttered and slipped out of bed and into his brother’s. His arms wrapped tightly around his little sibling and tried to calm him down with little ‘shhshh’ sounds, while he felt his t-shirt getting wet with tears. The 13 year old was never sure if what he did was the right thing in these moments. Sometimes he thought that Dominik had to toughen up a little. But now, all he thought and wished for was for his brother to stop crying and for his uncle not to come in.

Three Weeks into Summer Break
A light summer breeze ruffled Hendrik’s hair as he lay in the grass on a hill close to the secluded house of his uncle and aunt. From here, if he sat up, he could see down on the town. He tried to remember what it had looked like back then, but his mind came up blank. All he knew was that once he had lived down in this town in a big house. Now he lived with his uncle Heinrich, who was his father’s brother, and his wife Friederike. Aunt Marianne, his father’s sister and his mom’s best friend, had not told Hendrik much about him at first, when they had lived with her. But last winter break, he had shown up in London and insisted that the boys come and live with him. What exactly the deal was, that was made, Hendrik did not know. All he knew was that living with Aunt Marianne had been easier and much less painful.

“RIK! RIIIIIIK!” Dominik’s scream made Hendrik rise instantly and his thoughts flew away. This didn’t sound good at all, he thought and started running down the hill towards the house. “AHH! AU! NO! Go away! AUUUA!” High pitched sounds came from his younger brother and Hendrik tried to run faster. He should have just taken the younger one with him when he went out. It seemed never a good idea anymore to leave Dominik alone. Once he reached the house, he saw Dominik running around outside, still screaming, with a floating book close on his heels that now and then took a whack at the young boy’s head when it was within reach.

For a moment, Hendrik just stood frozen and watched the scene. Then his senses came back to him and he sprinted after his brother and the book. If he had his wand, he probably would have tried to use a spell to get the thing to stop. But all his magical belongings were locked away somewhere, and so all he could do was to use his legs and brain to help Dom. As he caught up with the two of them, he reached out for the book with both hands while running. Just when he thought he had it, it whizzed to the side to evade his fingers. Hendrik grit his teeth and flung himself at the book at full speed. This time, it didn’t escape. Hendrik fell to the floor grabbing it and buried it underneath him. Before anything else could happen Hendrik quickly sat on top of it and then breathed in and out heavily with his head hanging. Dominik, who had continued running, finally came to a halt and looked back at him. “Just…just, why can’t you just do, what he wants you to?” Hendrik said between his breaths and shook his head at Dominik. “Because he is E-V-I-L!” Dom shouted back at him and ran off up the hill. Hendrik sighed and swallowed hard. Hopefully Heinrich hadn’t heard that.

4 ½ Weeks into Summer Break

Dear Aunt Marianne,

Thank you for your letter. Our summer so far is alright. I am worried about Dominik though. Is there a way for you to take him, while I’m away at school? I don’t think he should stay with Uncle Heinrich and Aunt Friederike when I am not here. Also if he is with you, I can see him in the breaks and maybe you can take him to Hogsmeade on a weekend. Now I will be allowed to go as well, you know.  Please Aunt Marianne! He needs me, and I need to know that he…is safe…doesn’t get into trouble all the time. And he knows you and trusts you. Could you talk to Uncle Heinrich again? You convinced him that I should continue at Hogwarts and not go school here! Maybe you can convince him that it would be easier for us to live in England, too!! Please, please, please.

Love,
Hendrik

2 Days Before Start of School
Hendrik tapped his hand on his desk nervously. Aunt Marianne had never answered him, but yet he still hoped that her letter would come before he had to leave for school. If only she could take his brother again. She was not easy to deal with, Hendrik knew. But she was hundreds of times better than Uncle Heinrich. And to Hendrik it seemed that Dominik could not deal with yet another person trying to be his parent.  They had been lost at first in the middle of London, then were put in a hospital and then with some crazy people who looked after them for a short period of time. Then Marianne had appeared and they had moved in with her. Now it was Heinrich. And he was the worst of them all.

The door to the room sprang open, and Hendrik turned his head toward it. Uncle Heinrich stood in the doorway holding a letter. It was opened and from his expression Hendrik could tell that whatever his uncle had read did not please him. Well, it was difficult to say if there was anything in this world that pleased his uncle. But that was not so important right now. Hendrik’s hand formed into a fist on the table, while he waited anxiously for something to happen. He could have run away, jumped through the window perhaps, but it would all just delay the inevitable. And so he decided to face it right away.

Platform 9 ¾ , London, England
Hendrik walked slowly through the crowds on the platform. Children said goodbye to their parents and siblings. Parents gave last advice on how to get a good grade in potions and a few animals here and there ran between the feet of their owners. Last year Aunt Marianne and Dominik had said goodbye to him on this very platform too. He remembered it as if it was yesterday. Today , he was alone though. Aunt Friederike had dropped him in front of the train station. She had offered to come in with him, but Hendrik had kindly refused. All he had given her was a pleading look that hopefully had told her to look after Dom for him. At least a little bit. As much as she could. He was just a kid after all.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:
You can put Hendrik where you see fit. He has been going to Hogwarts since first year, but I don’t have a special house request.

Personality:
Hendrik is a very quiet, yet intelligent boy, who is fluent in English as well as German. His personality has been influenced by the warp and what happened to him and his brother afterwards. He can be very caring and protective. Usually in a crowd, Hendrik is not someone to get noticed or who tries to get attention. Sidelines and the background are his environment and where he feels most comfortable in. Due to his living conditions with first, his aunt who was crazy about rules, and now with his rather unpleasant uncle, Hendrik tries to fit in where he can and does what needs to be done in order to avoid trouble. In Hogwarts, he has been a good student so far, keeping himself in the background and out of most trouble.

Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

There had to be a way to communicate with a 7-year old aside from obvious owls and letters. Hendrik thought hard while he walked down the corridor and turned a corner. It drove him insane not to know how his little brother was doing. Of course, he hoped that some sort of message would come from Dom, but so far there had been nothing. And nothing wasn’t a good sign. Maybe it was time to send a letter after all. He could address it to Friederike and hopefully she would give it to Dom. He could…

“Wait up! It’s for the paper!”

Hendrik stopped abruptly as his thoughts were disrupted. He couldn’t walk, think and listen at the same time. Confused he turned around to the girl who came running towards him. So she had really spoken with him. Well, there was no one else to be seen around anyway. “The paper?” he muttered as he tried to focus his attention on her and away from his plans to write a letter.

“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

Hendrik blinked several times in confusion. He hadn’t heard anything about frog legs being served for lunch. The house elves frequently got visits from him and sometimes they told him what they planned to serve the next day. Frog legs had never come up. He shook his head in disgust. “It’s plain gross. Who eats those?”
