Biography: (300 words minimum.)

Aurora Phelps was born to a wizarding family of six in Amsterdam, the youngest of four siblings, and the second daughter. Her maternal grandmother had been a Veela, which made her and her siblings quarter-Veelas of mixed wizarding blood. Her family was of middle class and she grew up surveying the art of Divination- a skill at which she flourished, much like her mother Ada. At the age of eleven, Aurora began studying abroad at  Beauxbatons Academy of Magic like her siblings before her.

Her years at the academy were met with success and excitement, as Aurora flew through her classes and applied herself to her work, her ambitions soaring. While not popular, she had a decent amount of companions, and made a few lifelong friends. Upon her graduation, Aurora took to wizarding France for a gap year before finally rooting herself in wizarding England at the age of twenty-one, a place she would come to see as her true home. She eventually became a healer at St. Mungo's, and occasionally suffered financial struggles, though she was more than content with her lifestyle.

The time warp's occurrence affected her life greatly, though not directly. Aurora was unaware of the change, as if nothing had happened, almost as if a wool had been pulled over her eyes- but with the arrival of World War II, everything in her life began to fall apart. Her family members had spread across the continents over time, her sister having stayed in France, her brothers and parents still in their homeland of Amsterdam, suddenly cut off from each other and on different sides of the war.

Isolated from the people that matter most to her, Aurora now more than ever throws herself into her work and does her best to aide those in need of help at the hospital, St. Mungo's. She hopes for the war to come to an end so she can see her family once more.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

"Arrrgh!"

Aurora gasped lightly as she walked into an elderly man, backing away from their abrupt collision to survey the scene before her. His coat had had tinsel strewn all over it, his jaw set tightly- not in anger, but rather, in frustration at himself. His light eyes were apologetic and sorrowful.

Her hands flew up to cover her mouth, suddenly rushing to help the stranger.

"Oh Merlin! I am so sorry," she began remorsefully. "It was an accident, I hadn't meant to bump into you. Here, let me help you-" Immediately, Aurora reached to help pick at the stray tinsel on the man's coat- his hand reached to stop her, shaking his head.

"Miss, it's fine, it was all me- I can take care of it." He tried for what he hoped was a nice smile. Aurora nodded slowly, still feeling guilty for not having been watching herself. She was so clumsy!

This was the third time in two days she had bumped into someone. Twiddling her thumbs awkwardly as the man cleaned the tinsel off of himself, she mumbled, "My name is Aurora, by the way, sir."

The elder looked up and again, smiled at the younger, finding her shyness almost amusing. "Joshua," he said. "My name is Joshua." Having cleaned the tinsel off, he said his goodbyes to Aurora and was well on his way moments later.

Aurora,

Let me be one of the first to welcome you to HS.net! We are so glad that Google has led you here.

Aurora's application is coming along great! She sounds like she's going to be a wonderful addition to our site! Before we can get you accepted, there's a few things that need to be looked at.

Your lowest level (Transfiguation) must be at least half of your highest level (Divination), unless you have submitted a Special Request for uneven levels to an Admin. The Admin list can be found here.

If you could also take a look at your roleplay response, that would be excellent. Keep in mind that you can only control the actions of your own character, not the actions or dialog of the other persons character. It's okay when you said that Aurora reached to pull the tinsel off of Joshua's coat, but it's up to his player to determine if he allows her or if he pushes her hand away.

Once you make the edits to your application, if you could re-post it below so that we could take another look, that would be wonderful! Can't wait to get you roleplaying with us on the board!

Thanks!

- Aubrey

Aurora,

The changes to your levels work perfectly now! We're almost there, there is just a minor amount of powerplaying left in your roleplay. In your first full paragraph, you mention that his his jaw is 'set tightly- not in anger, but rather, in frustration at himself.' While his words do make him seem this way, it never really states this. Remember that you don't necessarily have to edit it out, as it could be something your character perceives ... you just have to add a little bit of wording to make it come off that way.

Also, a typical thread on our site consists of replies that are three paragraphs, three sentences each, so if you could just expand it a little bit more, that would be excellent!

You're almost there! (:

Aurora,

You are going to get it this time, I know it!

At the end, you now have Aurora walking away "briskly." This doesn't leave much room for the other person to reply to what she's said or how she acted. Would you possible just edit that last little bit, please?

I promise to get back to your app much quicker this time, too! (;
