Biography: (300 words minimum.)
First and foremost, Hugo Crimbleton has never liked his first name. It sounds like the name for someone who is loud, rowdy, and the life of the party. Basically, everything Hugo has never been and he probably never will be. He's always wanted a calmer, sweeter name… like, I don’t know, Jim. (It sounds bland, which, some part of him hopes to be- he figures it'll be much, much less difficult) But, like most things that have bothered Hugo Cassius Crimbleton that he can't fix, he has learned to live with it.

He was born the first child to Camilla and Dalton Crimbleton, with his younger sister, Lucretia after him, and his younger brother, Ben, taking the rear. Life before Hogwarts was fine for Hugo. He spent most of his days tending to his garden (since he was a young child, he had been obsessed with Herbology and Potions) and studying. Hugo never liked to focus on one thing in his studies, but rather, the young wizard spent most of his days concentrating on whatever he felt like.

Hugo Crimbleton started Hogwarts at the age of eleven, as everyone did. He was sorted into the Ravenclaw house. Besides his studies, he never did much in school. Hugo never felt passionate about Quidditch (as most of the other children in his school did), joined Spellbound, or did anything in the hospital wing. He never got quite into it, but he felt at home in Hogwarts as he did at his actual home.

That is, of course, until his fourth year. A group of boys (three Gryffindors, four Slytherins, and one Hufflepuff. Yes, he remembers as if it was yesterday and not more than ten years ago) began to… well, torture him. They called him names and when he was at the lake (studying the plants near the shore, of course) they would shove him in the water while he was still fully dressed. They shredded his homework and stole some of things. He was miserable, and his grades suffered.

But then came Kiyoko, a darling transfer student in his year sorted into Slytherin. She was a sweet girl, carrying a good head on her shoulders and a "fierce sense for justice," as cliché as it sounds. She found out about what was happening and was furious, and she made them stop it right away. And it became Hugo and Kiyoko, together forever, the bestest buddies, two peas in a pod, never alone. Kiyoko took him out at night and introduced him to a side of the castle he would not have been able to find if it weren't for her. She deemed their outings the "Dangerous, Daring, Peculiar Adventures of Sir Hugo and His Loyal Knight, Yoko." Kiyoko always said she would publish a book about it.

She never got around to doing it.

In their sixth year, they started dating. There was an easy transition from friendship to romance, and they spent every moment together. The two graduated together and got married after they graduated- she was 22 and he was still 21. The two purebloods lived together in a small flat, but they were happy. But then they had their first baby when he was 26, and things went south. Things just didn’t seem to work anymore. The two didn’t get along, and Hugo was starting to doubt if they even liked each other, let along love each other. So they got a divorce, and Kiyoko left with their baby.

Hugo has been living on his own since then, sad about his wife leaving but trying to get his life together. This will be the year when everything goes right for this Crimbleton. He has deemed 1947 "The Year of Hugo."

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Option Two -
The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response: Option 2
Hugo had always liked the snow. He had went out for a walk in Diagon alley just to be in it. Normally, he didn’t like to waste time, but snow reminded him of simpler days, when he was a young boy. He remembered it clearly, as he did most things, for Hugo prided himself on his fantastic memory. He would run down the streets, the snow hitting his face and his nose wet and running, lungs full of fresh air.

Where did the time go? His child would be as old as he was this year. Too bad he didn’t see them often. Hopefully in this year, 1947 (or the year of Hugo) he would get to spend more time with them. He didn’t want to suddenly come by for a visit as Kiyoko's and be bombarded by a resentful young child.

He hugged himself in his fur coat, and became wrapped up in his own thoughts. Yes, he'd visit soon. If he could gather up the money, he would bring a gift. A great gift, but he would not try to win over the child's favor with gifts, but rather his charming personality. (But, of course, he would sure presents would hurry up the progress.) Did Hugo even have a charming personality? He surely couldn’t convince anyone to do anything, including his wife to stay with him…

Hugo shook his head rapidly, trying to push the thought out of his mind. Salt in the wound, Hugo, he thought to himself. Salt in the wound.

He wasn’t fully out of his trance until he discovered a man at his feet. Had he crashed into him? Hugo really wasn't paying attention. Which was rare, because he normally extremely aware of his surroundings. "It's alright," he said gently. Hugo always wanted to help, but he wanted to make sure the man was okay. "Have you hurt yourself, sir?"
