Biography:
Pre-birth
Joyce's story started all the way back when her parents were born. Her mother was born to Miranda and Jackson Bailey, and even though they were not exactly rich, they were a pair of loving parents and named their child, with her soft chocolate hair and bright chocolate eyes Ariana Bailey. Her father was born in a rich family, to Melissa and Leo Fawley. His parents were cold and harsh, never really spending time with their child, whom they named William Fawley who have messy raven hair and bright blue eyes. When William grew up, it was mostly alone in his home, and he barely interacts with anyone. Ariana, in contrast, grew up in a loving family, and she attended a local school.

Sadly, Leo's company bankrupted when William was 8, and they moved to the town Ariana was staying in. He also attended the local school, and there he met Ariana, and both of them hit it off immediately. His parents detested Ariana, complaining that she was from a poor family, and when their baby boy said that he would choose Ariana over them any day, they realise how cold they have been to William. They began to spend more time with him, and their bond grew closer. So it was a huge blow for him when his parents died in a car crash.

Ariana's family took him in, giving him a loving family, even though his guardian was his uncle, Jamie. He grew closer with Ariana, and they went to school and college together, and the thing that brought them really close was when Ariana's parents passed away, happy, of course. Both of them mourned together, and William had to comfort Ariana. A few years later, William asked Ariana to be his girlfriend. Ariana agreed as she had waited for that day for ages, and for a few months after they date, William asked Ariana to marry him. Ariana cried, and agreed. They had a small, quaint wedding and things went just according to plan. Everything did for a few years, and it was quiet, serene, peaceful. Just the two of them in their house that was too big.. and that gave Ariana an idea.

Childhood
The lovely couple lets a few years past before conceiving their first yet final child. She grew up to become a beautiful girl, who her mother's hair and her father's eyes. She grew up reading books and loving animals and was leading a pretty normal life. Alas, she didn't have any friends, due to her bookish nature and the tendency to have weird stuff happening around her. Her first noticeable burst of accidental magic was when she wanted a book from a shelf that was too high and it floated into her hand. She was ecstatic when she received her letter, and immediately dived into the wizarding world by training herself in wizarding customs and learning anything she can about it. She hopes to be sorted into Ravenclaw, due to her thirst for knowledge, and also because Gryffindor and Slytherin sound too proud for her liking and Hufflepuff were considered as doofs.

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality: oy is a naturally shy person. She mostly keeps to herself, an introvert through and through. Her mouth rarely opens for those she doesn't know, although she enjoys speaking with her friends. She is also quite enthusiastic when speaking to her teachers, who enjoy her company due to her intellectual nature. When she is coerced into group activities with her friends, Joy does her best to be inclusive, making sure everyone is involved. She does this at the exclusion of herself sometimes, although she doesn't mind. She'd much rather see everyone else having fun than participate herself. In fact, when she's not being anti-social, Joy can actually be a rather warm, open person. She's more than willing to offer a shoulder and an ear to anyone who needs them and is always there for her friends. She's loyal to a fault, something that she prides herself in, and is quite protective of her friends. She may not stand up for them vocally, but she finds other ways to watch out for others. True, these methods tend to be sneaky and sometimes a bit more underhanded than she'd like, but anything to help out a friend. In fact, Joy has a fair sense of justice and vengeance when it comes to others who were wronged. She doesn't care about herself as much, viewing herself as outside of things. This can cause her some trouble, since she has a morbid curiosity, and is willing to follow things through no matter the outcome. She almost always ends up looking back at things she's done with regret, though, thanks to her own morality and her need for some sort of structured system of rules or laws. It's a never-ending conflict of experimentation versus staying in line that she deals with on a regular basis.

Although Joy is fairly quiet, she can have quite the temper on her. While setting her off not the easiest things in the world to do, it's also not terribly hard. When she is angry, Joy finds herself not raising her voice, but instead focusing on something with great intensity and not letting it go. The rest of the time, though, she's fairly easy going. She's someone that can keep secrets, a trustworthy individual. In response, she generally trusts others and is deeply hurt when they betray that trust. She almost borders naïve in that respect, although she likes to think she's a better judge of character than that. She likes to think a lot of things, really, and she doesn't budge from her thoughts. Indeed, Joy is stubborn at times. She can be a hard head, unwilling to change her opinions on anything. She's also fairly absent-minded, placing things down only to forget where she put them mere moments later. The two things that Joy never forgets about are her duties and homework, the two important things in her life that aren't her friends.

Appearance:
Hair: Long tousled chocolate brown locks with natural ombre highlights, Joy's hair is wavy and soft, despite being tousled. She normally let her hair flow down until her waist, but occasionally ties it up in a braid or ponytail, be it any kind. She is never seen without a ribbon in her hair.
Eyes: Her eyes are the most noticeable feature about her. One could say her eyes are a variety of colours, the primary one being a beautiful shade of river blue. There are highlights of turquoise and azure blue, and in low lights, her eyes seem like a daring shade of electric blue. In bright light, her eyes are a lapis colour. Her eyes hold secrets yet kindness, mischievousness yet sweetness. Her eyes are large compared to her other facial features, and she has very long eyelashes that cast shadows on sunny days. Her eyes are framed with eyebrows that are barely seen as they are only a few shades lighter than her hair.
Body/Facial Appearance: Joy, approaching puberty, is coming to the point where she's outgrown most of her baby fat. She isn't stocky or incredibly skinny, but as of about six months ago, she's on the slimmer side. She gets out and makes sure to get plenty of exercises, though, so that helps to build muscle. She's really stronger than most people think she looks. Her face is diamond shaped and the planes of her cheekbones and chin are becoming more obvious, but she still has a bit of childish chubbiness in her face. Her cheeks are puffy when she smiles and she has dimples and freckles. Joy's lips are on the smaller side, but they aren't thin. Her upper lip has a pronounced cupid's bow in it when she is not smiling, but when she smiles, her mouth becomes very wide and large and everything straightens out. She has a rather pointy nose but it's a slender one and the bridge in the middle of her nose is not visible unless one looks hard. Her teeth are straightening out because she's done losing most of her teeth, but they're still a little crooked because they're all trying to situate themselves in her mouth properly. She is quite petite though, more on the shorter side. She has pale skin, with rosy cheeks that are even more obvious when she blushes. She is almost always seen with a smile on her face.

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

Joy walked into the Dungeons, just to humour the Ravenclaws who told her that there was a ghost in the dungeons called Emma Birch. There was no such thing, none of the books she read about Hogwarts said so. Even so, she jumped when she heard a sound echoing off the walls. Muttering a Lumos, she strode forward and saw a girl standing there looking around.

"Hello," Joy said quietly, smiling at the Gryffindor girl. She was in some of her classes. "Evangeline, right? Looking for Emma Birch?" she said. She overheard some Gryffindor girls earlier talking about how they were daring the first years to look for Emma Birch, or they would get expelled for being a coward.

"You know the legend is false, right? They were just daring you for fun," Joy said grinning, "The Headmistress will never expel you for not being brave. But the Sorting Hat did put you in Gryffindor for a reason," Joy continued.

"Do you want to keep on searching for the imaginary spirit or do you want to head back to your common room?" Joy asked.
