Kell, PM the admins about this please?

Thanks.

Oh no! D: I was hoping it was more like the books, where they start silent casting in 5th year. ;n;

I guess I'll have to do a Special Request, then. Thank you! <3

EDIT: Do I need to edit any posts where Kell has done magic at this point, since technically she can't cast anything until I get a request approved? @~@ Also, how does that impact RPing attempted spells? Sorry, I feel so dumb for missing that in the rules and now I want to make sure I'm not messing it up more. ;n;

Heya chickadees, sorry this slipped through the cracks.

So, nonverbal spells are canonically very difficult. If your character is mute, I would suggest submitting a special request to develop this early, because, as the magical rules on site state, six is the standard minimum.

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this issue. :)

In my mind, of theoretical magicness, I feel verbal incantations are just a way to focus or emphasize the spell you want to do.  Like say if you were doing something in real life, that you were still getting to grips with, then you'd talk your way through it as a way to remember what you're supposed to be doing.

That's why, I feel, that you can silently cast a spell that's a few levels below your current ability; because you're that adept at it, you don't need an aid to help you focus on casting the spell. So if that's true, if a child was a mute then they might be able to find a work around to allow them to learn spells.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the magical rules,
Quote
Silent Casting
You are able to cast any charm silently if you have at least six more levels than that normally required to cast it. For example, at C7 you can cast Lumos and Nox silently, you would need C9 to cast spells such as Rependo or Reparo silently, etc.

Maybe you can fill out a special request?

This isn't a stupid question (or is it? let us joIN IN OUR STUPID QUESTIONING *cries pathetically*), because I'm wondering the same.  Like I know there are some rules in duelling (I should look those over :'D), but how exactly does it work outside of that strictly statistical environment?  The idea of silent casting applies heavily to other characters as well, not just mutes, and I realized recently...that my little Ronnie is likely to silent cast if she can, and Baby would use it for pranks cONSTANTLY if she knew how...

And I wondered if there was like a set number of levels that your skill goes down when silent-casting?

I know this is an old question...but...I'm curious too...and I think it'd be a useful thing to know.  Helpmesmartpeople...

Hi! I had a question about silent casting. My character was born mute, so I need to use silent casting rules for her, right? Are there any? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to make sure before I start writing spells and stuff.
