Name:
Mort Fredrickson

Birthday:
14  November 1935

Hometown:
Salsbury, Wiltshire, England

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Strength:
Charms

Weakness:
Transfiguration

Year:
First

Biography:
Mort was the third child in a family of six. He was always the “estranged middle child”, not really being neglect per say, but he was not really a focus when there are five other mouths to feed. His Catholic parents bringing him up with a very strict sense of right and wrong, he tends to have guilty episodes. He is the only magical child amongst his family, and his parents are entirely confused when they learned of their child's gift. However, Mort is excited, he is a wizard after all! He hopes to help his muggle family with his magic.

House Request:
Hufflepuff, but ultimately your choice.

Personality:
A bit on the depressive side, it takes a lot to get him worked up. He believes strongly in hard work and caution, just like his father. But he aspires to be more like his adventurous older brother, John.
At his best he's warm and agreeable, if a bit negative. At his worst he can't do anything without being prompted several times, his focus becomes utterly pessimistic.

Appearance:
Black hair, Blue eyes, 4'3" (130cm), Causasian

Prompt I:
Mort Fredrickson had just got out of a meeting with the Potions Professor when he heard am echo saying "Hello! Is Emma Birch here?" He tried to shake it off but he couldn't help but feel like something was wrong. Against his better judgement Mort trudged through the dank corridors to the source of the noise, unsure of himself he stops and starts several times.

'I do have homework to do...'

But he shakes it off, no, Mort is going to investigate. His eldest brother John wouldn't be afraid. If anything, he'd jump and bound there.

He mutters to himself "it's not like there will be ghosts, right?"

Mort comes upon a blonde Gryffindor girl, he opens his mouth to greet her but stops and pales at the sight behind his yearmate.

Hi Mort!

Thank you for your interest in our site. Your application is coming along nicely! There's just a few things that I would like to point out.

Awhile ago, we went through a thing we fondly call the Time Warp. A consequence of this was that the Muggles were left behind. You can read more here and here. Since Mort is Muggleborn, this means he would have lost his parents and older siblings when he was around 2 years old.

If you could factor this into your biography and post your entire revised application below, we'll be happy to take another look!

Thank you for informing me. Hopefully the changes don't disqualify me. I don't recall seeing anything about the "Time Warp" until you pointed it out to me. It might be helpful to put a link in the application template, though I do have a habit of missing obvious things....

Biography:
Mort was one of many people in a Catholic orphanage named our "Lady of Magic and Suffering". They believe that magic was obviously at work during the pregnancy of their Lord and Saviour, and wish to bring more people into the faith of Catholicism under a magical lense. He was always the “estranged muggle-born child”, not really being neglect per say, but he was not really a focus when there are hundreds other mouths to feed. The magical nuns bringing him up with a very strict sense of right and wrong, he tends to have guilty episodes. The fact that he was a Muggle-born does bother him, partially due to the bullying he received. But his "older brother" John Addix (who is really just an older kid who didn't get into wizarding school, or adopted) cares for him deeply and tried his best to look out for him when it came to that sort of thing. He's very excited to start attending Hogwarts, and hopes that he can find a family of his own someday.

Personality:
A bit on the depressive side, it takes a lot to get him worked up. He believes strongly in hard work and caution, just like his Abbess. But he aspires to be more like his adventurous "big brother", John.
At his best he's warm and agreeable, if a bit negative. At his worst he can't do anything without being prompted several times, his focus becomes utterly pessimistic.

Hi Mort!

Your application is coming along great. Remember that in our roleplays we write in third person, past tense form and you actually seem to be following along with that fairly well! There are just a few places where you slip into a different tense.

But he shakes it off, no, Mort is going to investigate.

This is one example that should be altered. Once you make a couple more changes to your sample roleplay, we'll be happy to take another look. Just as before, post your entire revised application below. Thanks!
