Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Bethany Emerson

Birthday:10th June 1949

Hometown: London

Bloodline:
Halfblood

Magical Strength (pick one):
Conjuring and Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Charms

Year (pick two): First/Second

Biography:

Bethany Emerson has never been a quiet person.

She was the "true" heir of her father and mother's mischievous spirits, she liked to proclaim, even though she was the younger twin. And with good reason too, for Anise and Bethany were different like oil and water, for while the former was quiet and sported a perpetual frown, the latter was loud and boisterous, always the center of attention and snapping people her way with a well timed prank, or a witty remark.

Others would say she was vain, sly, that she craved an audience too much for her own good, but the young blonde would disagree, saying that she simply liked to live in the moment, and always having the attention of the room was simply a side effect of her radiant personality. She didn't care for a moment, of course, that this very statement further solidified others impression of her as a self-absorbed girl.

Because for every one person she put off with her antics, three more were pulled in. The world would shake beneath her feet, and people like her simply didn't have time for the opinions of the irrelevant.

House Request: Hufflepuff

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option 1

The Gryffindor Tower, check. The Hufflepuff kitchens, check. The Ravenclaw Tower (why are there so many towers?), check. The only place left to map out were the Slytherin dungeons, which she had been putting off till now because contrary to popular belief, Beth Emerson did have some fears; dark, damp, enclosed corridors being one of them. She might've been more daring if Tip-Tip was there to egg her own, but alas, her cousin had poofed, and she was left alone.

But then she remembered, she was Bethany Emerson. Supposed to be braver than a Lion, smarter than an Eagle and more cunning than a Snake; someone like her simply couldn't be scared off by a little trip like this. Plus, she'd be able to rub in both Anise and Tip's faces that she had braved the dungeons alone, and with a great huff of determination, she set off on her quest.

Surprisingly, the dungeons weren't all that bad. Sure, it was damp and smelled horrible, but no icky frogs or anything. She gradually settled into a semi-comfortable silence as she walked, the lack of companionship being a completely foreign feeling to the young girl. Most of the time, she always had Anise to annoy or Tip to run around with, but here, alone in the dungeons, she fell into a contemplative melancholy.

That didn't last long, because she soon heard footsteps approaching from around the ben, and her soft features brightened up at the thought of a possible new friend. Feet dragged quicker as she hastened into a jog, eager to meet the mystery person. Someone similar to her age; judging by the sound of her footsteps. Her question, however, stumped her.

Who was Emma Birch?

Oh! It's that ghost girl that died a long time ago. Supposedly. Honestly, she didn't know why they still though poor Emma was a ghost when there was a REAL, VISIBLE and recently dead ghost that was hovering around the halls. They should be trying to find her. Then a grin crossed her lips, a positively wicked one, as an amazing idea came into her brilliant mind. With a silent cough to make her voice a few octaves lower, she whisper-shouted back, "NoOOOooOOoo, but Astro Marquis is! Run for you life!!!!"

Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Cayden Cox

Birthday: January 7, 1942

Hometown: Manchester

Bloodline: Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Divination

Year (pick two): 6th, 5th

Biography:

Cayden stared at his father, teeth clenched, balled up fists turning his knuckles white. Matthew Cox didn't seem to notice or care about his son's plight, continuing his dinner as normal and engaging in small talk with his wife and Cayden's mother, Juliette. For a while, the only sound that filled the room was of knives scraping on ceramic. With a sharp intake of breath, Cayden asked incredulously, "Are you serious? A boarding school?"

Matthew paused to look up at his son, gave a curt nod and continued, "A very prestigious one. You should consider yourself lucky that they even accepted you. Their spots are in very high-"

"Prestigious? Hogwarts is prestigious. The best magical academy the world has to offer. I've been going there for five years now, dad. Why the sudden change of heart?"

"Because you're beginning to lose yourself in your little fantastical school! I'll not have my only child throw his life away doing parlour tricks like... like him."

Cayden instantly knew who he was talking about, of course. While he was the first in his immediate family to be gifted with magic, his father's younger brother Robert and his whole family wielded magic. He knew for a fact that his father was jealous of his brother, and resented him his whole life for being the 'magical one'. The 16-year-old felt his temper rising to his core and stood up, sending his chair flying backwards.

"Parlor tricks?" He let out a dry derisive laugh. "You wish you were able to do those parlour tricks, dad. Don't punish me just because you didn't get a letter. I won't waste my talents at a muggle school. I'm going back whether you like it or not."

At this point his father also stood up and slammed his hand down on the table, sending the plates and cutlery rattling. Cayden glanced at his mother and met her fearful eyes, pleading him to stand down. She was always caught in the crossfire whenever he and his father fought. The woman always stood from his side whenever Matthew stepped out of line, and she was the reason he was able to attend Hogwarts in the first place. However, what little power she had over her husband seemed to be gone now, her will to fight having been gradually drained over the years. Cayden sent her an apologetic look and returned his steely gaze to his father.

"If you're so intent on ruining your own life, fine. Pack your bags and get out of my house."

It was a threat he had heard many times before. Normally he'd go to to his room and sulk for a while, and then apologize and try again. Matthew used this trick when he didn't have any good arguments anymore. His business finished, the old man sat back down and continued eating, a vein in his neck throbbing from the high blood pressure.

After standing still for a full minute, something in him snapped, and Cayden walked out of the room, saying, "I always preferred uncle Robert's place anyway. I'll be gone by tomorrow."

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Personality:

Growing up with a father who hates magic and attending a school that looks down on muggles has shaped a big part of him. At a glance, he seems like a typical teenager; laidback, cheerful and extremely confident. Under the surface, however, lies a very ambitious and driven person fueled by his insecurities and need for validation, struggling to fit into two worlds and not truly belonging in either.

Option 2:

Normally, Cayden enjoyed the raucous atmosphere of the Great Hall, but the gardens provided the much-needed peace and quiet in the morning. Cayden was seated on a bench, a textbook open on his lap and a plate full of chicken thighs beside him. He was barely paying attention to the book, instead enjoying the chicken and the gentle waving of the flowers as the breeze passed through them.

Then, as always, some idiot came along to ruin it. This time it was a boy around his age, apparently looking for his rat. He didn’t seem to notice him, searching furiously in the flower beds and crushing them in the process. Cayden grimaced as the boy dived right into the flowers and let out an impressive sneeze. With a sigh he closed and set down his book, approaching to help him.

“Seems like you’re the one that needs help, mate,” he said with a raised eyebrow. He’d expected a more friendly greeting, perhaps a request to help him. Certainly not being told he was rude for staring. Still, he kept up his friendly face and crossed his arms. “Try checking under the benches. Maybe you can lure him out with some chicken?” he said as he jerked his head towards the bench he was sitting on a moment ago, where his breakfast lay.
