Biography: Ashling Barrow was born to Aidan and Siobhan Barrow on June 4th, 1962 in Bantry, IE. She had never known anything other than the Muggle world, though her family did hold a strong belief in Faeries. Lost items were more likely to be blamed on a Brownie, particularly if the missing item was shiny. Likewise, she had been taught from the day she started walking to avoid rings of small stones or mushrooms. Though she did not voice it, she always assumed that anything strange that happened to her was the work of some form of Fae or other. When she turned eleven, she received a letter for a strange school called Hogwarts. When her parents asked her what she thought, she simply replied "I bet they know a lot about Faeries." thus it was decided that she should go to Hogwarts that Fall.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Please include these sections if they are not addressed in your biography.

Personality: Ashling is naive at best, and clueless at worst. She's not particularly brave, but may show an inordinate amount of courage when she thinks a faerie has her back. She doesn't like to think that anything is done by her own skill or competency, rather that she is being helped by one of the Fae. She's fascinated by magical creatures, particularly faeries, and strives to learn as much about them as possible. She has a very hard time staying mad at anyone or about anything. Holding a grudge simply isn't in her nature. She can, however, be rather cruel when it comes to immediate retaliation for a wrong. Much like J.M. Barrie described Tinkerbell, Ashling only seems to be able to exhibit one emotion at a time.

Appearance:
Ashling has auburn hair and brown eyes. She is a little on the heavy set side, but not so much as to be unhealthy. She is slightly self-conscious about how she looks, and takes extra effort to prepare herself every morning.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
You come across one of these three posts on the site. Please reply to one only as your character would.
*** Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not James' or Astrid's.

Option II:

"Oh, come now!"

Astrid Bixby’s voice carried down the corridor, the tall blonde girl not far behind. Her interviewee – or victim, depending on perspective – turned a corner and she frowned. They were always so elusive when she needed them. Sure, they would talk as if there was no tomorrow during class, but once she actually needed them to say something, they were nowhere to be found. Gryffindors.

Flustered, Astrid stopped in the middle of the corridor and stared, her parchment hanging limply from her hand. She was a good reporter, really, and she always did her best to make sure that everything she wrote was accurate. She glanced down to the quill, eyeing it with disdain. It wasn’t her fault if her quill misquoted. How was she supposed to know? It made for interesting articles, at least, and if she had misquoted the Head Boy last term as saying he had a love for stuffed animals, then that gave him personality. Astrid sighed.

A pout formed on her lips as she turned away, discouraged. The corridor was mercifully empty, though the doors to The Spellbound – the school newspaper – were ominously closed. Corbridge was a mercifully sweet editor, but Astrid was terrified of disappointing her all the same. She had to come back with quotes.
Her eyes, blue, trailed her surroundings before choosing a new path, and she turned down a new corridor. A figure was ahead, and her eyes lit up, an impossibly rosy smile blossoming across her lips.

“Hey!” Astrid called, her voice light and singsong. She trotted to catch the person, her shoes clicking on the stone floor. “Wait up! It’s for the paper!” Her legs aided her admittedly poor running, and Astrid gasped as she came closer. “What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

Sample Roleplay Response:

These halls were impossible to navigate! There were so many of them that Ashling had a devil of a  time keeping them straight. What's more, she had hear that the hallways liked to move….or was that the stairs? Someone should just make portable maps of this place with a moving 'YOU ARE HERE' dot, and all of the classrooms marked. Ashling sighed as she turned down yet another corridor. Speaking of stairs, where were the bloody things? She had been wandering around for what felt like hours, and still had not found them.

“Hey!”

Oh no.

“Wait up! It’s for the paper!”

Ashling had been warned about one of the Spellbound writers misquoting other students. Something about a Qwick Qwotes Qwill, whatever that was. She tried to run, but her heart just wasn't in it. She had simply been wandering the halls too long, and her halfhearted trot slowed to a walk before long. She knew she was caught before her captor even got to her.

“What do you think about serving frog legs at lunch? Some say it’s a delicacy, but others think it’s plain gross.”

"I think you never know if you will like something until you have tried it," Ashling replied. Then she waived goodbye, spotting the stairs off to her right. Had they been their the entire time?
