CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Margaux Hartley

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Circe&Co

Character age: 29

Character education: Hogwarts - Slytherin

Strength and weaknesses (details please): Margaux’s strength is her perseverance and her belief that everything is obtainable if you work hard enough for it. She started her own business making clothes after getting married and having three kids. Her husband wasn’t pleased, but she stuck to her guns and now she’s successful in her own right and not because of her father or husbands money.

Her weakness is her prejudice against mudbloods. She doesn’t believe that they should have a place among purebloods, but she doesn’t let that part be known. Her best friend is a halfblood though which makes it hard to actually find any base for her prejudice.

Physical description: Long brown hair with doe brown eyes. Slender, but petite. She stands around 5’5” and has delicate features.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.): Some would say nice, some would say rude. She normally says what’s on her mind if something doesn’t quite look or seem right. She can be cold when warranted. Through the icy exterior though is a loyal, protective, loving woman who cares way too much about the people in her life.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: To teach students to believe in themselves and work for what they want, no matter their position in society.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):   Margaux Hartley was born Margaux De La Roche on October 31st. It wasn’t pretty a pretty birth by any means. Her mother was killed in the process and her father never let her live it down. In her younger years she was raised by a nanny and was brought tutor after tutor, not allowed to go to a regular school.

The homeschooling lead her to what she was passionate about though. She loved making clothes. On nights her father was gone on business she would put on a fashion show for the house staff. Her father approved of sewing, but he didn’t approve of wanting to make a business out of it. She was a lady and apparently ladies don’t do anything besides tend to their husbands and kids. Try telling her that now and she would tell you off probably.

When she was ten years old her father moved her family from Paris to London. The family business was expanding and her father was expected to oversee it. That’s when she received her letter for Hogwarts. Her father originally wanted the young girl to go to Beauxbatons, but he didn’t want to be too far away either. So he finally gave in and the following term she attended the school where she met the love of her life, her best friend, and made great memories in between.

She met Sebastian Hartley at her first opening feast. He was a year older, but that didn’t keep him from picking on the younger girls. For some reason she had been saved from his teasing though. Later that year they stayed at the castle while everyone left for Christmas. After that they were best friends. She watched as he lead girls on just to dump them. He watched as she did the same thing with guys. It wasn’t until they were done with school that they had found their true love for eachother. Now they have one boy and a twin set of girls.

Serena Rose was a different story altogether. They met their 5th year when Serena was the new girl. Gryffindor, but at least she was fun and not such a buzzkill. It was actually in a game of spin the bottle that their fate was signed, and after that night they were each others go tos. They still are.

After marriage life took its toll and the only solace she found was in her kids and in her passion. She started designing clothes and after some prying from Serena she actually started selling items. To her surprise it actually boomed. Growing up all she wanted to be was a fashion designer. She would study muggle designers, hiding the magazines from her father. It was her destiny. The business practically runs itself now though. Now it’s time to shape the future.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Margaux  was late. It normally wasn't like her, but between the nanny getting sick and her husband being incompetent there she was flying down the corridor. The clicking sound of her heels echoed through the walls as she rushed to the headmistresses office. A worried look crossed her face as she looked at the watch on her wrist and pushed faster.

This was probably what her interns were like when they were late. Nervous, sweaty, rushing... Although she doubt the headmistress would do what she normally did. Educators had to have patience. At least that seemed to be the case when she was in the castle.

She was relieved when she saw the door. Although it brought back memories of her and Serena getting into trouble back in the day. If it wasn't for her best friend talking her into it though she probably wouldn't have applied. She had her business affairs in order though and her lead designer was wonderful. Her company was in good hands and she could always return during the days she didn't have class if need be.

When she got to the door she took a moment to compose herself. She straightened out her shirt, patted her dewy forehead with her handkerchief, and smoothed down her hair. First impressions were everything, and even though she was still late she hoped she was able to salvage hers.

She walked in to a woman who portrayed the type of ice queen vibe that Margaux dreamed of.

"You are late."

Margaux nodded. "I apologize for the inconvenience. " She said as she brought a smile to her face. "I don't like excuses though so therefore I have none either." Hopefully the headmistress would respect that. People didn't like excuses until it was them that needed the excuse... Margaux didn't excuse herself though. She held herself to even higher standards than she held anyone else.

Roleplay Response:

Margaux looked around the room in astonishment. She hadn’t been inside of the castle in at least 10 years. The castle smelled the same though. It never changed. The people changed, but the castle itself didn’t. It remained tall and magnificent. It was truly a monument… One that held extraordinary memories that is.

She might have drifted off too much to the past though.. She was now late she realized as she glanced at her watch. “Shoot.” She said to herself. A great impression needed to be made, but now that was highly unlikely. Punctuality was something she needed. Her schedule was her life, and when something happened to interrupt the schedule her nerves would crumble.

As she walked up to the room she knocked and opened the door, not waiting on a response. She was supposed to already be in the room so she figured it wouldn’t be a big deal. She just needed to be in there.

"You are late."

Margaux nodded as she stood just inside of the door. “I’m sorry ma’am I was just admiring the architecture in the hallway. It hasn’t changed a bit since I was last in the castle.” She stated with a warm smile. Hopefully the smile would melt the icy facade of the headmaster.

Biography: (300 words minimum.)
Margaux grew up in Paris in a wealthy pureblooded family. In the muggle world her family is of noble descent. Who else were to be their slaves before it was illegal? Muggles. Her father moved them to London when she was ten for a job with the Ministry of Magic in England. She is definitely a daddy's girl through and through. She is an only child, and her mother passed away while birthing her. She survived though and is her fathers pride and joy. That comes at a high price though.. She is a spoiled princess with certain prejudices especially against anyone who isn't of the pureblood status. She frequents the social circles of the rich and powerful, and doesn't mind putting peasants in their place.

Her childhood was an easy one. She spent her time doing what little ladies do: sewing, art, literature, etc. She really took an act to sewing. She makes all of her own clothes, and has a vision for the future. Her favorite designer is Coco Chanel, for a muggle she definitely has nerve. Maybe she is a secret witch? She likes to think that anyways. When she makes it big she would open her designs to the muggle world too. Its true the muggles are below her, but the more her designs are out there the more power she gains in both worlds.

She spends the best nights with her friends circling hot spots without a care in the world. She is in love with the best man in the world.. Although she would never admit it that easily to him, or to anybody but her best friend. She is sort of a control freak in a lot of ways, and fights against most societal rules. The only time she doesn't push the boundaries is when she is in front of her father and his "friends". She doesn't want to embarrass him in anyway. She leads two lives.. One of social trend setter and the other of good submissive lady. Her father keeps trying to arrange marriages for her, but she keeps talking him out of it. She doesn't want to be that girl.

Roleplay:
You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character:

Option One -
Amelia Nixon was many things, but she was never a pushover reporter that people could just usher away with a busy shuffle past. She was dedicated and eager to cut to the very middle of the current political tensions because she was Amelia Nixon and her articles would most certainly become front page material.

“Sir, please! It’s for the Prophet, how do you feel-“

Another one brushed passed her, the shuffling busy masses making their way through Diagon Alley for the lunchtime rush. This had been the best possible time to get people, but none of them were giving her anything to go with.

Only momentarily discouraged, the short red headed lady took a seat on a nearby bench. Her quill resting in her left hand and her notepad ready in the opposite hand. Amelia pouted, tapping the quill against her leg as she scanned the waves of people for somebody - anybody - who looked like they had something to say.

She had been dreaming of her name in bold print, Amelia Nixon: The Source of Today’s Tomorrow. She had been dreaming of the larger office and the secretaries that would fetch her the morning coffee and fetch her anything she needed. The VIP interviews and the most exclusive press passes. But all Amelia had was a page seventeen piece on the rising number of frogs in London.

Hardened by a day of no success, the reporter stood up and started to trod off down the alley. A loose stone on the cobble path caught her heel, sending the distraught girl toppling down to the ground.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” she yelled as she tried desperately to recover her shoe frantically in the middle of the Diagon Alley moving crowds.

Roleplay Response:
The morning went by in a blur. A happy blur. She woke up early and decided that she was going to have a productive day. She was dressed in a royal blue silk dress that hung down to just below her knees. The fabric created waves that no other could. A black belt situated itself around her torso just below her bust, accentuating her small waist. Her hair was pulled up into a half hazardous bun with little tendrils hanging around her face.

As she walked by the shops she caught the attention of many suitors, but she was a woman on a mission. She needed to reload her fabric supplies to keep up to date on the latest fashions from around the world. She also needed pants for tomorrow nights social call, and those weren't going to make themselves.

She then saw the poor girl. She looked like she kept trying to get a persons attention, but most just ignored her. She was pretty, but kind of drab looking. Then Margaux had a brilliant idea! Her father would be so proud that she gave to the poor. All the girl needed was a make over, then she nobody would turn away from her. She was formulating what the girl would look best in not paying any attention to the scene that unfolded right in front of her.

“Merlin’s fog watch, my heel is broken! Help!” She heard the girl yell.

Margaux stood up quickly and walked to the girl, the crowd parting as she made her way. "You know if you want people's attention you should try a little better with how you present yourself." She said with a smile thinking she gave good advice. "I'm Margaux... And I am here to save you." She held out her hand expecting for the young lady to take it in order for her to help her up.
