Biography:
Most the people she had met up until this point of her life fell into two groups one who knew her parents, or ones from the muggle elementary school she went to.  Naturally there were some exceptions, but they were few and it was never acknowledged.  So in an odd sense she had two identities the combined to form the person she was.  Identities that came complete with there own sets of paperwork, the muggle ones forged, and there own set of friends.  This opposing mix of influences has dramatically shaped the person she is, and caused her to in some respects compartmentalize things within her life.

Elizabeth Arnett - Wizard in Training

Her mother was either a professional quidditch player or coach depending on the day of the week and which people she was playing with.  Either way she had watched people play quidditch all her life from whatever stand, bench, or field he mother left her in until she was old enough to fly.  When she became old enough to fly she got delegated to the role of quaffle retriever, and bludger fetcher by her mother to help out when she was coaching.  Elizabeth was never sure what her father did, beyond it being boring.  At one point she was dragged to a cauldron shop that he apparently worked at, but was out the door exploring before he could tell her what he did.  Nothing fun could come out of a shop piled high with cauldrons and odd potion ingredients with less burners than they had on the stove at home.

Naturally the people who knew her parents expected her to be like them.  Her mother existed in a perpetual state of childhood and expected everything responsible to just work out.  A state that she suspected her father made actually work out.  Naturally she didn’t know it was actually her uncle Helios, who wasn’t actually her uncle, that made the important things work out for her mother like her first professional quidditch contract.  As such when she was younger she fell into those traits of being laid back, calm, and was confident everything would work out.  Except for her it often didn’t as unless she spoke up her mother would just drag her about so as she was getting older she became more outspoken than either of her parents.  A state that shocked most when they encountered her loud mouth.

Elizabeth Arnett - Muggle Imposter

At the muggle elementary school it was understood she couldn’t talk about her parents beyond them existing.  Her mother thought it was important that she be exposed to muggles as there were far to many wizards who couldn’t manage outside of there small world.  So she was her own unique person there and developed into a confident, and somewhat boisterous young lady.  There she learned that being laid back got one stepped upon, so instead she spoke up for herself and her friends.

As for how she got tossed into it, her mother practically considered it free babysitting and they didn’t look to much at the paperwork her mother handed them.  The advantage of her mother choosing a school in a lower working class neighborhood that was close to the dividing line separating the wizarding world near where she actually lived.  The fact that it was illegal on both the count of the forgery of muggle papers, and the interaction with the muggle world when the Ministry had such restrictions didn’t bother her mother so much.  After all, the wizarding world was acting so isolationist at the time she wondered if her parents were planning to give her an out of it if the prejudices got to bad.  Plus, it wasn’t like the Ministry was providing an education for children under eleven so the muggle schools were her best free option.

Though now the world had changed, minus the statue of secrecy which still kept her lips sealed, to be one where it wasn’t as risky to wander into the muggle world.  At least they were now allowed to interact with muggles.  Which was the hardest thing about her dual identity and how she almost felt like she was a muggle.

The Merging of Elizabeth Arnett

The year she turned eleven turned out to be the most monumental of her life so far.  At the beginning of the school year she sat the entrance exam for muggle grammar school something called the eleven-plus exam.  It was uneventful as unlike her muggle friends she knew she’d be going to Hogwarts and they’d never see the exam.  After all, Hogwarts would likely never be told she had a muggle education period as what her mother did forging paperwork was probably illegal and certainly not something one advertised.  So the scores wouldn’t be worth the paper they were written on - especially since failure was almost certain considering the lower class primary school she was in.

It wasn’t a forgery, a joke, a mistake, she Elizabeth Arnett had managed to score high enough on the entrance test to go to a grammar school along with only two other students from her school.  It was more than a shock to not only her but her friends, as her grades while good weren’t the top of the class as she was more known for focusing on having fun and socializing.

Then there was her Hogwarts letter that predictably came on her eleventh birthday.  She never bothered to mention her ticket to grammar school figuring it was a back-up just incase she were a squib.  After all, with months of trying she couldn’t get more than sparks out of that wand she acquired she was rather certain she might be one.  Though now with both in her hands she hesitated realizing the path of Hogwarts might not be the one that lead her to greatness.

Choosing one’s Identity

The first was the one in the wizarding world.  It was what she was raised with.  The base expectations for her life were that she’d go to Hogwarts then graduate and become a member of wizarding society.  Her whole view of the world was based on this very concept as her excitement of receiving her Hogwarts letter revealed.  Yet, the simple fact was all she could do was sparks out of the wand she acquired which didn’t give her the confidence she’d be a great wizard.  Plus she wasn’t immune to the words that had been tossed her way with respect to her blood status.  She knew that would always hold her back, as those badges proved, and there was nothing she could do about it.  Even if she could be great in the wizarding world, she’d have to fight harder and still be pushed down by a now invisible badge.

The second was the one in the muggle world.  The only part of her life there that was a forgery was her address, and parents occupations.  Her accomplishments like passing the eleven-plus, getting into grammar school, and the friends she had were hers.  Unlike the wizarding world she had an independent identity and wasn’t looked at as an extension of her parents, or worse her blood status.  Yes, the muggle school she went to was in a lower working class neighborhood, however her grammar school would be likely in a different part of London.  A better part of London and she was confident she could grab a couple of nice hand-me-downs to make people think she belonged.  Or convince her mother to buy her some new clothes, she wouldn’t have to buy Hogwarts supplies after all.  All it would require of her were appearances, and working hard.  If she could score so high on her exam she was certain that if she worked hard she could really make something of herself.

Following one’s Ambition

It was the obvious one considering the fact her mother, who had been head girl and had good NEWT scores, only amounted to being a quidditch player which only required skill.  A skill she didn’t have, nor was interested in pursuing.  Even if she was one of the better bludger fetchers, even better than some of the paid summer interns the teams occasionally got.  As for her father she was so bored by whatever he did combined with the fact it didn’t seem as respected as other things that it didn’t really manner.  Most the things in the wizarding world that were important almost required being pureblood and that wasn’t something she could change.  Nor would she want to as unlike most wizards she could make it without magic, which made her feel like she was superior.  Even if she could never say anything.

She didn’t have a good starting point in either world, yet she had managed to push ahead based on her own skill in the muggle world.  Either way she’d be separated from friends which she had gotten used to with the many friends she had over the years who were evacuated to the country side due to the war.  However the few wizarding friends she had weren’t enough to make her want to go to Hogwarts.  Most of them were practically family and she knew that even if she were a squib there friendship would last.

She was ambitious and knew if she were to become great her odds were better in the muggle world.  So she choose to go against the grain and attend a muggle grammar school instead of Hogwarts.  She wasn’t going to count on things working out for her she was going to make them work out for her.  This would be her first step.

The problem was her parents had choose Hogwarts.

House Request: None.

Personality: Arg.  I think I know what she’ll do and she goes off and is EA.  I honestly don’t know.

Appearance: Adorable.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Her footsteps softly echo’ed in the dungeons as she walked around confidently.  After all, there was nothing in the dungeons that compared to her old walk to school.  There wasn’t the fear of an air raid siren going off and having to slip into the nearest bunker.  There wasn’t any of the rougher kids who sometimes tried to take ones lunch money - which they hadn’t gotten in the last year and a half.  There wasn’t even the fact that she always had to look over her shoulder to ensure she didn’t get followed as it used to be illegal to be in the muggle world.  All the dungeons had was a slight dampness to the walls, and she made sure she had cuffed her pants.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?”

She’d naturally heard what happened last year.  She made it her business to know as much as possible about Hogwarts and recent events before starting Hogwarts.  With a smirk she decided that she needed a break from thinking about how to escape the school.  So she said “ I was waiting for you.  So you remember the rules you are only allowed to send sparks and whatever part of your body gets hit you can’t use. “

Then she chuckled thinking her game was rather great.  Wouldn’t ghosts play games?  They must get bored.  She’d have to ask David if Emma was haunting the dungeons later just in case.

Naturally the only problem was she couldn’t even get sparks from her wand.  However, she knew a real squib wouldn’t be trying to point that out so she had to fail in the least hurtful way possible.  Hopefully her planned failures would lead David to telling her parents she was a squib.
