Letting go had always been the hardest thing for Hee-soo.

When he let go of his mother's hand on the docks of Incheon, when his eldest brother Hee-jun told him that he couldn't hang out with his baby brother anymore since he had new friends, when his older twin sister Hee-young peeled his tight fingers from her arms at the train station when he was to leave for Hogwarts.

He never felt quite at home in England and even less so when he began to manifest strange abilities. He'd tried to be sociable, was such an energetic and rowdy child that the other kids and the workers at the orphanage were scared. When strange things started happening around Hee-soo, they were terrified. And they showed it.

Out of them all, though, Kenny was the absolute worst. Always, day and night, he made fun of Hee-soo for being so small, for looking different, for having an accent, for not liking English breakfast, and he definitely had a thing for Hee-young. It took Hee-soo all his willpower not to punch Kenny straight in the gut, but it turned out he didn't even have to go to such measures.

Kenny was sent to a different orphanage unable to speak or walk properly after he was found alone in a room with Hee-soo, who was laughing gleefully. Both parties claimed that nothing physical had occurred.

It was not long after that Hee-soo and his siblings were adopted, and Hee-soo was sure that the workers were breathing sighs of relief when the three got on the car.

Hee-soo was surprised that the young couple who adopted them was actually quite nice, and for the first time, he felt that he could let his guard down just a tiny bit. But then, he left for Hogwarts and felt as alone as ever.

Even after graduating, nothing seems to have changed. Taeri, Hee-soo's pet cat, is as churlish and snappy as ever, but she's all he has. He's picked up a job selling magical books in various languages after spending most of his time in the Hogwarts library.

The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Hugging the package tightly to his chest, Hee-soo dragged his scarf over his shoulders.

It was one thing for Diagon Alley to be this crowded, but why did it also have to snowing? He shivered and continued to slowly push his way down the street.

There simply wasn't any time for this! Hee-soo had to be at work in (he checked his watch) 10 minutes. At this rate, he wouldn't be able to open shop until thirty minutes later, not that anyone would actually be there.

He sighed as he trudged up a hill, not even listening to the commotion around him.

Three new books that he was excited to add to his collection and- a flurry of colours suddenly unfurled before Hee-soo's eyes, red and gold, before someone crashed right into him.

Hee-soo fell backwards, his package of books tossed to the side. "No!" He reached for them.

"For Merlin's sake!" the man in front of him got up.

The paper wrapping was completely wet, but Hee-soo decided the state of the books was a later problem. Dusting himself off as he got to his feet, he noted the chill on his entire backside.

"Are you alright?" he asked the man, who was now decked out like a Christmas tree.

The man certainly looked sorry as he exclaimed "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!"

Hee-soo gave a bit of a pained smile. "I'm alright. Not sure about these books, though."

Remembering that he was in a hurry, Hee-soo pulled a strand of red tinsel from over his body and offered it to the man. "I'm in a hurry, but here!"

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Slytherin (or Gryffindor)

Personality:
He's closed himself off quite a bit, but he used to be rowdy and rambunctious. Now, he doesn't make friends easily, because he's afraid he'll lose them, and puts on a cold front. He gets angry really easily if someone tries to mess with him or his cat. He's very straightforward and won't lie to others to make them feel better, and he's also super competitive.

Appearance:
Hee-soo is around 170 cm tall (but still growing), and is very thin and lacking muscle. He has brown eyes and brown hair which is usually either fluffed up and messy or combed to be straight. He likes to wear slouchy clothes, and everything is usually pretty big on him since he's so skinny.

You come across one of these posts on the site. Please select one & reply as your character. Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not Evangeline's or Hugh's.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

The dungeon reminded him slightly of the orphanage at which he and his siblings used to live; it was old, dark, and musty. And it smelled.

What strange thought had enticed him to decide to go down there at this hour in search of potion ingredients? Right...He'd lost that bet to his best mate. Hee-soo sighed as he struggled to pull the lid off a jar that simply wouldn't budge. "Aishhh."

He pounded on the lid a few times to loosen it up but to no avail before hearing the sound of footsteps. The breath caught in his throat, and his body froze. Was it a monster?

"H-h-hello? Hello! Is Emma Birch here?" The voice seemed to small and squeaky to be that of something foul.

Hee-soo turned, only to find a tiny girl standing before him. The surprise made him blurt out something in his native tongue "아 깜짝*...Ahhhh...Who are you?" He narrowed his eyes at her.

Not a monster in a child's clothing, he hoped.

*Korean phrase denoting surprise. "You scared me!"

Name: Hee-soo Ahn (안희수)

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one):

Magical Weakness (pick one):

Year (pick two): Third, maybe 2nd?

Biography:
In early June 1950, a shaman had told Ahn Tae-min and Jung Hyun-jin that danger was coming to their family if they stayed in Korea. And in no time at all, they couple had sent their three children off to Europe. They waved their goodbyes at the port of Incheon on 24 June, and the next day war erupted.

Hee-jun, Hee-soo, and Hee-young landed in Dover several weeks later, only to be informed that their parents would never be joining them.

Hee-soo was only five years old at the time, a rowdy and rambunctious toddler that people at the the orphanage couldn't deal with, especially because he was strange and there often seemed to be an aura of magic around him. Only Hee-jun could calm him down. Together with Hee-young, his older twin sister by 9 minutes, he wreaked havoc at the orphanage.

All three children were eventually adopted by a nice young English couple in Surrey, who started to notice magical happenings whenever the Ahns where involved. At age 11, Hee-soo received that fateful letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry...

Roleplay:
Reply as your character to the following:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
Hee-soo's English was still no good.

Even after he and his siblings moved to England, he'd refused to speak anything but Korean since he only talked to Hee-jun and Hee-young anyway. Only after he was adopted, at the age of 9, did he finally start opening up to the new language.

He was afraid to go outside or to the parks, where he would surely meet some wide-eyed, blonde-haired children who looked nothing like him, who would try to speak to him.

Still, he found himself at the park with Hee-young, his translator, who'd run off to play on the swings.

"You!" Hee-soo turned to see one of those children he greatly feared glaring right at him and sunk down behind a bush. "...Do you want to play?"

He slowly emerged from behind the foliage and took a look at the strange broom the girl was holding. "Play? With that?"
