THE BASICS (Copy and paste the form into your own application post)

Name:
Mackenzie Gates Monday, although to her friends, she is sometimes simply known as Monday or Mac.

Secret Phrase:
I had to use the secret phrase to register for this site, do I still have to put it here? I know it's ~secret~ so I don't want to give it away or anything, I don't know. Well anyway, (we'll hide it then! ~ Tim's edit), if I must.

Former Character's Name (if you had one): N/A

CHARACTER DETAILS
House Request:

I would love to see my baby sorted into Hufflepuff, as it would make me personally very happy. However, I leave the decision up to the sorting hat, as it should rightfully be. (Post Script: as I write out her biography, I see that Ravenclaw would make a great deal of sense as well)

Year
I’d like to play my character from year one, but if that’s not possible I’m not really all that picky.

Bloodline:
Muggleborn

Magical Strength (pick one: Divination, Transfiguration, Charms, Conjuring/Summoning):
Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one: Divination, Transfiguration, Charms, Conjuring/Summoning):
Transfiguration

Biography:
Mackenzie was born by two muggle parents, Mary Elizabeth Donson and Paris Andrew Monday, on May 21st, 1961. Mary was a tenured professor at Oxford University and Paris was a lawyer with a little-known human rights firm based out of London. Growing up on the East side of London, she led a blessed childhood. She hardly wanted for anything and generally had the best clothes and toys. When she was eight, her parents took her stateside to visit Disneyland. It was the happiest trip of her life. She wanted every day to be as magical as that trip was. She never had any siblings, so she filled her days with play dates with her classmates. She was a well-liked child, and most of her classmates really enjoyed playing with her. On the rare occasion that another child didn’t like her, Mackenzie would go out of her way to be extra-nice to them. In her opinion, everyone should like her. She thought of herself as very kind, and didn’t see why anyone should dislike her.

Throughout her muggle schooling, teachers noted a great deal of absent-mindedness and often described her of having “her head in the clouds”. It was as if she was always daydreaming, thinking about a better life, even though it would be hard to imagine a better childhood than she already had. That was, until she was ten. The day after her tenth birthday, her parents announced that they would be getting a divorce. This surprised Mackenzie a great deal as her parents’ marriage always seemed problem-free. With no idea how to handle things, she became very introverted. She was still a very pleasant and genial child, but she was no longer the extremely sociable and talkative young girl she used to be.

For the year before her eleventh birthday, Mackenzie spent her weeks with her mother and her weekends with her father. She became very skilled at getting her homework done ahead of time so she wouldn’t have to carry her books back and forth from each house. With this kind of forethought going into her classwork, her grades improved a great deal. She became very good at scheduling her time efficiently, all the while keeping up with friends and making sure everyone’s problems were solved.

When her Hogwarts letter came, it surprised everyone. Thinking back, her parents recalled Mackenzie being able to retrieve toys and books from very high shelves without any sort of explanation. Similarly, her room was always very organized, though they never saw her cleaning it. After a great deal of discussion, and a visit from the headmaster himself, the Monday family decided that a magical education would indeed be a very good idea. During the months leading up to this decision, Mackenzie was very happy, as it brought her parents together for whatever brief period of time to discuss the matter at hand. It was almost as if they were a real family again. When she left for Hogwarts, she had a great deal of hope that her parents would work things out while she was away.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Please include these sections if they are not addressed in your biography.

Personality:
Mackenzie has abandonment issues, stemming from her parent’s divorce. She’s terribly afraid of the ones she loves leaving her alone. She’s also terrified of open water and refuses to learn how to swim. She loves everything about nature (aside from oceans which terrify her, but also inspire awe). One of her favourite pastimes is picking flowers and making bouquets on her walk home from school. The zoo is her favourite place in the world, aside from Disneyland, although she doesn’t anticipate another trip to Disneyland in her near future.

Appearance:
Mackenzie was born out of an interracial marriage. Among her friends, this was very uncommon given the time period. Her father, Paris, is of Latin descent, while her mother is fully Anglo Saxon. She is naturally thin, although her mother wonders if that isn’t just a manifestation of her magical blood since she eats pretty much everything in sight.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
You come across one of these three posts on the site. Please reply to one only as your character would.
*** Remember, you can only roleplay your own character's actions, not James' or Astrid's.

Option I:

Blimey, the Great Hall was packed. It seemed like everywhere a guy looked there was some clown waving around a House banner or yelling about the game.

'Can you believe it?' 'No way!' 'This must be the biggest upset in Hogwarts Quidditch history...'

Stupid Quidditch.

James flopped into an empty seat at the end of the table, shoved an empty plate out of the way, and let his head sink onto his crossed arms, squishing his freckled nose down flat against the tabletop. He wasn't sure why he'd even bothered to come here, since he definitely wasn't hungry. He'd probably never eat again, in fact. He didn't deserve to eat. He hadn't stopped in the locker room to change out of his muddy, sweaty uniform after the game either, because he was pretty sure he probably didn't deserve to be clean too; and anyway he couldn't stand to see the looks on his team mates' faces after he blew their chance at winning one of the biggest games they had ever played.

Just one lousy shot. That's all it would have taken. If he could have just got that one stupid foul shot to go through that one stupid hoop, they could have won and he wouldn't have been the biggest blockhead in the entire school.

As if to prove the point, half the people at the next table suddenly broke into a loud victory chant. James pressed his face further into his arms to hide the bright red blotches he could feel creeping up his cheeks. That was it. He was just going to have to run away and move to Nova Scotia. He'd just cost the three-year-in-a-row Champions the Quidditch Cup! How do you ever live that one down for crying out loud? He was only a second year and he was going to spend the rest of his life as 'that dumb cry-baby kid who dropped the Quaffle!'

It felt like every set of eyes in the room was boring into him, and James couldn't stand it anymore. He jerked himself back up from the table and stomped right back out of the Hall the same way he had come in. As he stormed into the quieter hallway outside, he could hear footsteps somewhere behind him. James rounded on the sound and began to shout, his brown eyes shining with tears. "WHAT! Haven't you ever seen a loser before? Why don't you just take a picture!"

Sample Roleplay Response:

Mackenzie had spent most of her morning in the library, which was completely deserted, aside from herself. She vaguely remembered hearing something about a Quidditch game the previous day, but she was intent on keeping her grades up. As a first year (and a muggle born), she really wanted to prove herself, and besides, she still wasn’t really sure what Quidditch was anyway. After a while, though, she realized that she had been reading the same sentence in her History of Magic book for a quarter of an hour, and decided it was time for a study break. All the words she was reading seemed to be gibberish anyway. With a great sigh, she heaved herself up from the table and packed her books away into her book bag carefully.

The minute she exited the library, she could already hear excited chattering coming from the direction of the Great Hall. The Quidditch match must have been interesting, she deduced.

Suddenly, with a bang, a very messy boy stormed out of the Great Hall, the large wooden doors slamming shut behind him. Mackenzie gasped, and stopped for a moment before continuing forward warily. When he rounded on her, though, her already wide eyes widened even more in anxious terror. “I-I… I’m sorry, I j-just” she stammered, averting her eyes to the stone floor in front of her. She gulped and looked back up at him. “You seem upset” she said, her brown eyes filled with concern as she stated the obvious. “Um… quidditch didn’t go too well?” she asked, her eyebrows knit together with worry. She took a cautious step forward, looking into the stranger’s distressed face. His Quidditch robes were rather dirty, and a loss would easily explain the boy’s demeanor.

“I’m… Mackenzie” she said, taking another slow step forward and holding her hand out to him in greeting. “Mackenzie Monday”.

Optional  I was actually searching one of my Doctor Who tracked tags on Tumblr and saw a great graphic (involving the eleventh doctor, maybe? I can’t remember precisely) posted by your RP’s Tumblr account. I was really curious, since my one roleplay has pretty much died and I’ve been searching for a new one to join.
