CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character name: Karina Ivansko

Previous and/or Current Character(s) if applicable: Joanie Dixon, Dylan Duckheart

Character age: 29

Character education: Karina was educated at Hogwarts, and was sorted into Slytherin House. She was very studious in school, particularly at Transfiguration and History of Magic. She struggled to make friends in Hogwarts outside of her house. She made her closest friend when she transfigured her bully into a bat. She joined the Quidditch team in her third year as a beater. As Karina got older, she began more popular in a feared way, but never really made friends per say. She graduated in the top ten percent of her class, and then she went to study Transfiguration in France. In order to finance this stage of her education, she took a job archiving the role of wizards during the French Revolution. She finished her study two years ago, when she published a study on animagi.

Strength and weaknesses (details please):

Strengths: Karina strives for excellence in her own work, and strives to inspire others to achieve excellence. She is passionate in areas of her interest, which includes magical history and transfiguration. When passionate, she is table to devote her entire being to something. Her controlling personality means that she seeks to establish control very quickly, meaning she thinks quickly, and acts decisively. Karina is incredibly resourceful in finding solutions to baffling problems.

Weaknesses: Karina can be incredibly demanding and controlling. She likes everything to be in perfect control, and lashes out when things are not in control. She also does poorly in any area that is not her interest, which includes charms. She always thought that class was very silly. Karina does not have patience, and can become exasperated quite easily. Karina is not the best listener, unless the topic interests her. Karina sometimes handles discipline too strongly.

Physical description: Karina is tall and skinny, with boney joints. She has long and greasy black hair, which often covers her large striking green eyes. She has large lips and a large nose, with a mole on it. Her face is not very expressive, and only shows expression in the case of extreme emotion. She likes to wear black clothing with a colourful top, and wears very high heels. She always dresses formally. Her version of casual clothing is khakis and a dress shirt.

Personality (nice, rude, funny etc. Paragraph please.): Karina is a person you'd describe as in control in everything she does. She is conditionally nice, as she has little tolerance for ignorance, laziness or incompetence. Once you prove to her your skill level and work ethic, Karina will be incredibly supportive and kind. But one thing she does not like is when someone is better than her. That can unleash her competitive edge. She does not take kindly to rude and entitled people, and can react harshly to establish control.

Hopes and dreams. Why are you teaching at Hogwarts?: Karina is truly passionate about her subject matter. After working for a number of years after her fellowship in France, she realized that she could do good for the magical world by equipping students. Karina adheres strongly to 1950s educational theories. Karina realized that she did not feel fulfilled in her work within Transfiguration, and realized that teaching Transfiguration and History of Magic was her passion.

Biography (500 words minimum. There is never such a thing as too much.):

Karina was born in London to a Pureblood family. Her family had arrived from Russia three years before she was born. They had been involved in the upper class of Russia until the revolution. Her father had managed to escape when given an important project. Karina was deeply influenced by those experiences. While not alive at the time, the effects of this time permeated the way she was raised. Her parents valued excellence and were very strict. They were somewhat affectionate, but they had to earn it. Karina was an only child, which meant that her social skills were never strong. Karina learned English and Russian, and she retains both languages.

Karina made a friend in primary school, but she tended to stick with herself. Karina was a smart child and did well in Social Studies. When she began to show magical promise, her parents were not surprised. In fact, they would have been shocked if she had not been magical. In fact, Karina's cousin was a Squib. While her mother was tolerant of her cousin, Karina and her father had little to do with them ever since.

When she got to Hogwarts, she was sorted into Slytherin. As her parents had been educated in Russia, she did not understand the importance of the house. She immediately took to Transfiguration and History of Magic. She didn't really make friends under her third year, when she transfigured a Hufflepuff girl's bully into a bat. In third year, Karina joined the Quidditch Team as a beater, which she was in until her graduation. This gave her immense satisfaction, and helped her remain thin.   In her later years, she became more popular in a feared way, but didn't really make additional friends. She graduated within the top ten, and remained close with many of her professors. Karina, while she was liked by her professors, never assumed any significant leadership roles during her time in Hogwarts.

Once she she graduated, Karina studied Transfiguration in France. In order to finance this stage of her education, she took a job archiving the role of wizards during the French Revolution. She finished her study two years ago, when she published a study on animagi. At this school, Karina developed friends, as she worked with people as passionate as she was. Karina did not appreciate the French culture, so she longed to return to London as soon as she could. When she returned, she moved into a lower class area of the city so she could purchase a nicer place. She also got in touch to room with her friend. She had then worked as a freelancer in Transfiguration, and had the opportunity to work with high profile clients. Karina's greatest joy was freelancing with parents who had special needs children.  She never participated in Transfiguration fraud. She began feeling unsatisfied, and decided to teach students the magical arts. Once she came to that realization, she began studying educational theory to make sure she understood the way to teach.

While her parents are still alive, Karina has a complicated relationship with them. She deeply admires their work ethic and tenacity, but does not want to spend time with them. She is still in touch with her friend.

SAMPLE ROLEPLAY
(Please respond to to this in third person past tense. Do not write the other characters' reactions. Only your own.)

It was the largest office in Hogwarts and, perhaps to students and newcomers, the most intimidating. The shelves were filled with various odds and ends, with a place of honor for the Sorting Hat, and the walls held all the portraits of past Headmasters and Headmistresses.

In the middle of the room sat a large desk. Everything was in order, for the current occupant had always despised a messy desk. It was the sign of a messy mind, and she had always favored neatness.

A clock sat on the desk, which currently showed the time to be 2:05. The meeting was supposed to begin at 2:00 precisely.

Along with order, Anneka valued punctuality. She was a very busy woman these days. Even during the summer, she had a number of matters to attend to. Interviewing and hiring staff was only of those matters. The newest potential member of her staff wasn't making a good impression.

She paced the room, black heels clicking against the stone floor. When the door finally opened, Anneka turned, her expression reminiscent of a Russian winter. "You are late."

Explain yourself was what her face said.

Roleplay Response:

Karina checked her watch, and she was late. Good, she thought. She liked being in total control, which somehow according to her strange logic meant that others could not be in control. She strutted down the hallway to the interview not batting an eye. She looked striking in her black suit jacket and pants. Her blue top was the only streak of colour within her endless black attire. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun, and was wearing green eyeliner to compliment her striking green eyes.

Without knocking, Karina strode into the office and extended her hand. The look on the woman's face almost made her feel the need to explain, but not quite. It wasn't like she had any good reason to tell her. Karina said "Shall we begin. I wouldn't want to waste our time. I'm Karina Ivansko." Karina took her seat and said "I do hope we can find an accord here. I would love to teach at this prestigous institution, and I believe I have something to offer your students." Karina than looked expectantly at the Headmistress. She was as cool as a cucumber in situations like this, and she felt perfectly in control.
