Biography: (300 words minimum.)

France was Eden.

It was everything a place like Dunoon-- whose green, rolling hills and expansive skies were better suited to someone like her brother who was so empty-headed and unruly it was a miracle he could form a respectable thought without barking it out like hound-- was not. It was the very reason Eunice Victoria Lamont had refused to go to a magical school with her insufferable twin after having to spend eleven years of her life sharing a corridor with him.

A womb had been enough to last a lifetime.

Envy would jest that Eoin was truly the one preordained to come out first. Her birthday should have been the same as his, the 22nd of November, and they should have let their mother suffer a more laborious time giving birth so that she'd never want to go through the experience again. Yet, Envy had rushed out before the 21st had ended. The almost-thankful expression she arrived in then interrupted by the howling cries of baby Eoin minutes later. At that, both infants cried until exhaustion finally took hold close to sunrise.

Truly, that was the most accurate way to sum up their relationship.

In France, she was able to find her identity. She was not Eunice, the annoyed and generally quiet sister of the brash and wild Eoin. The girl who was dotted on by her father in a way that irked both of her siblings (before the third one decided to show up) and her mother in its lavishness. The one who acted like the prototypical pureblood princess during dinner parties, playing the role of host better than anyone else in their household during which the eldest half-brother fumbled through words when speaking while her twin would wrestle the other boys in repellent muggle fashion.

It was where she became Envy, the person she had always truly been, wished to be, and couldn't stop being if she tried.

Envy was not one to let the world come to her or let the reputation of her family and the many gifts she received as her father's favorite remain her identity. There was no room for accepting the path that every other girl of her station seemed to settle for; the small number of momentous occasions that always revolved around another person instead of solely on her. By the time she had reached Beauxbatons, after a childhood spent stomaching the talk of her wedding and who'd she be marrying as if that was all that mattered, Envy had already decided what she wanted and what she wanted was more.

While not the most gifted witch (her skills at magic were generally average, a fact that the more-talented Eoin would remind her of during holiday), she was far better at finding the necessary social circles to reside in. She could identify who was the right kind of popular, the genuine sort of arrogant, the correct amount of manipulative while finding the true gems to polish among the common pebbles. Even if they seemed dirtier and darker to ordinary eyes, not everything was as it appeared. She had learned that early on in life, understanding that she was definitely not the person her father thought she was despite acting as such in his presence.

It was why she already had the right connections to leads for Ministry positions upon completing school while her brother was most likely to return home and get into all sorts of mischief with their pipsqueak of a sister. No, she needed to be far removed from the lack of spotlight that was Scotland. If she was going to have to make the most of being back in the dreary isle of Britain then it would have to be where she could rise and make a name for herself. A place and position she could truly make her father proud of, where she could carry the line of Lamont into even higher promise, and where she could hopefully find someone worth her time if marriage was truly unavoidable.

Option Two -

The snow had been falling steadily all morning and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time soon. Joshua Campbell scrunched his face up in a frown as he lifted his gaze to look to the sky. Snow. It really was quite a bother.

And it certainly didn't make it better that Diagon Alley seemed to be getting more and more crowded. Joshua sighed and pointed his wand at the large box that was currently placed on the doorstep of his shop. He had to get going. He had an order to deliver.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The elderly man muttered and watched the box hover in the air for a moment. Honestly, did St. Mungo's really need that much tinsel? And with glitter of all things? He sighed again. If it hadn't been for the rather convincing stamp on the order, he would have been likely to believe it had been a prank by one of those orphaned rascals living up there.

Oh well, there was no point in waiting. Joshua deftly stirred the box down the doorstep and out onto the street, carefully levitating it above the heads of the crowd.

"Coming through! Coming through!" His voice sounded over the chatter of the crowd. "Keep out! Move ahead! Go on!" This was going way too slow. People were in the way and walking like they had all day! He huffed. Luckily the road was down hill.

"Coming through! Coming th--- arrrgh!" Joshua let out a loud shout as his feet suddenly slipped in the snow and sent him, the box, and several long strands of tinsel tumbling into the person who had been walking in front of him.

"For Merlin's sake!" Joshua muttered angrily as he hurried to his feet again, red and gold tinsel now decorating his black coat. "I am so sorry! This blasted snow!" He looked apologetic at the person he had crashed into.

Roleplay Response:

This bloody island needed to warm the 'ell up.

Envy's sigh was soft. It rose from her lungs and left her lips in a translucent, white cloud that scattered into the back of the man walking in front of her's cheap, navy suit jacket. She watched it disappear as quickly as it had come, only to be replaced by another before she tightened her scarf around her throat and cheeks. For a reason she hadn't sorted out just yet, the sight of it bothered her enough to will her eyes into slits as her lips pursed with the intensity of boiling water rumbling beneath a pot lid.

It was too bloody cold. She continued to complain through her first winter back. Sure, the rest of the world took in winter but this felt rather unique. The weather remained bleak but not insufferable enough to understand how you should correctly layer. There wasn't as much snow as slush. The sky was empty sunshine that could warm your cheeks even in the dreariest of days for weeks at a time. It was no wonder that pubs lined streets like pigeon feed while the more debonair boutiques she had gotten used to losing afternoons at a time in were ghosts of her memories and imagination.

Such was the price of getting what she wanted.

The sidewalk was far more crowded than she could have believed before leaving her flat considering the irritable weather. Envy pulled the collar of her brown fur coat shut. Her white gloved hand held it closed tightly across her chest as heeled, caramel-colored boots clacked through the layer of slushy white to hit cobblestone.

Despite being absent her preferred shopping spots, there were a number of magical items she had to procure to make life at home easier. There was only so much she'd leave lowly house elves responsible for. The next item on her shopping list was a charmed faucet that would have her bath run the exact temperature she wanted.

(You might imagine a witch would simply make such a thing possible through use of her wand. You'd imagine wrong when it came to Eunice Victoria Lamont. First, getting the exact temperature right wasn't as simple as it seemed and she wasn't about to dip her toes through a bath's surface to figure out if she had succeeded. Secondly, she was not the sort to waste her innate magical ability on such a plebeian activity.)

She'd almost been too late to notice it. The levitated box hung over their heads but, with the crowd and the weather, it was a easy to not see it before it was too late. Flung by the falling wizard, it came bare inches from striking her face as it rained down tinsel all over her. Most of it scattered on the ground around her while a quartet of strands of green, pink, purple, and blue fell over her like snakes plummeting from trees.

"I am so sorry! This blasted snow!"

Her frigid eyes landed on this unfortunate soul without a speck of compassion. Her lips pursed, cheek bones rising as she lowered her scarf to properly express how little she cared for his excuses. Then, when her gaze held him long enough without saying anything in return, she smiled and laughed.

In her mind, he was roasting over an open fire with an apple wedged in his mouth but a laugh and smile would do.

"Clumsy," she sang the word softly before flashing a disturbing smirk that undid any feigned frailty. The next words felt more natural. "Aren't you?" The cracked like whipped lightning. She then took the tinsel hanging over her with two hands and ripped them apart. Without saying anything else, she shrugged her shoulders and let it fall out of her upraised hands before stomping on them on her way out.
