Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Hometown: Lough Corrib, Ireland

Bloodline: Pureblood

Magical Strength (pick one): Charms

Magical Weakness (pick one): Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 2nd, 3rd

Biography:
Finnan was born into a world that truly fascinated him. From an early age he found himself wondering how things worked, trying to figure out what made things operate in the way they did. It had started small, every now and then he'd find himself captivated by an object until he was able to understand the mechanisms that carried out it's function. At first it was purely magical items, but the young boy often found that the answer was simply magic and for him that just wasn't good enough. He soon started to tinker with creations of a muggle persuasion, taking them apart piece by piece to unravel the mystery of how they worked, restoring them to their original states once his investigating was over.

His older brother ridiculed him for putting so much time into something he saw as useless, though his parents had never minded, deciding as long as he was learning it was beneficial. Either way Finnan didn't care what anyone else thought. He was always happy to just sit on his own and delve into the intricate workings of yet another instrument of muggle origin. They were certainly more adept at holding his attention than his brother was.

It wasn’t until he started school that he began to have any interest in forming any sort of relationship with other people. Finnan started to find himself bewildered with those around him. He found it strange that no two people in the school were the same and after spending his whole life surrounded by his family members that to him all blurred into one personality, Hogwarts was an enchanting new world.

Suddenly he found himself spending time with his classmates, though he thought of it more as studying rather than forming any lasting friendships. Different group dynamics became a particular topic of interest to him as he learnt more about what made each individual tick. Over time he even found himself predicting how people would react to certain things, though even with all his observations that proved trickier than he expected.

It was safe to say Finnan couldn’t wait to return to his new research project.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request:  Ravenclaw

Personality: Finnan finds most social situations confusing and can often seem distant when meeting new people. He much rather prefers being a passenger in group conversations only contributing when he deems it necessary, preferring to watch the rest of the group to learn more about them. Unlike most boys his age he prefers to spend the majority of his time nose deep into a book rather than running around or playing outside where the possibility of getting dirty in his opinion is far too likely.

Appearance: Finnan’s personal hygiene is something he spends a lot of time ensuring is to a high standard and his clothes are always immaculate. Despite this he has never been able to tame the tangle of curly black hair that often partially obscures his line of sight. Just like his hair his build is thin and wiry. Unlike his much broader older brother people are more likely to call him gangly rather than tall.

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Please reply to one of the Sample Roleplays below.

It was always so loud after a Quidditch match had taken place. It irritated Finnan. He didn't understand the fascination with the sport himself, sure he found it entertaining to watch, but he didn't think the result of a game was that important in the grands scheme of things. After all it was just a game. Perhaps if he had even the slightest hint of flying ability he'd think the same as everyone else, but the only time his brother had encouraged him to try the sport it had ended in injury and a few unnecessary bruises. Finnan much preferred just watching the reactions after games.

If only it was a bit quieter.

Watching was still possible though. His current subject was one of the boys that played in the game, sitting on the table next to where the blonde was examining him. He was just sitting there slumped on the table, it appeared the boy did not deal well with defeat. The boy wasn't really doing anything particularly interesting, but Finnan still decided to move closer as the group of students that had already been especially noisy started chanting loudly.

How was he supposed to concentrate with that racket?

Ten steps was all he managed before the object of his attention jumped out of his seat and stormed off like a toddler that had just had his favourite toy confiscated. Not wanting to lose the boy now that he was getting more interesting, Finnan scampered quickly after him. As he closed in on the boy he turned and the stalker froze caught in the act like he was being held at wand point.

"I... errr..." Finnan stumbled over his words as his face began to turn scarlet, though the colour quickly subsided as the boy finished. "Really? You don't mind?" He asked, the excitement at the prospect of adding a photograph to his findings obvious.

"I'm Finnan, by the way." His hands rummaged in his bag as he looked at the boy. "Does this mean we're friends now?" Furrowing his brow as he tilted his head at the boy sending him a questioning look, it only just becoming clear how strange the boys offer was now that he saw upset he was.

One day he’d start understanding people properly.
