Biography:
To the Honorable Anneka Ivanova,

I am writing to you to say thank you for letting me come to Hogwarts. I didn't get the letter yet but my mum said everyone gets one just as long as they have magic. I have magic so I'll get a letter. I asked her when exactly it'll come and she said to be patient.

I'll tell you a bit about me so you know what to expect. When I go to galas and stuff my mum always says the polite thing to do is to know who people are before you talk to them. You get introduced and stuff. Dad says that Hogwarts doesn't do that and they put all the kids together without introductions. They both said you're real nice and to treat you with respect. I reckon it wouldn't be respectful to let you be impolite by not knowing me before I come to your school.

First thing is that I'm magic. I know that for sure. If your records say different, you should let the elves know they're doing a crummy job. I can do magic and I definitely did do magic. One time might have just been normal wind blowing but the other time I made the whole sky dark and boomy. We had to go inside, even, to stop from getting wet. So now you know.

Second thing is that I'm not gonna be trouble for you. I know how to behave good. I know what respectability means, cause my dad told me a bunch of times. My family's pretty old and when I act good it makes all the family look good. If anytime you think I'm not good please let me know and I'll be good instead.

Third thing (this is gonna be the last one because I know you have lots of letters like this to read and I respect your time) is that I don't have any friends yet. When you're little like me sometimes the world is dangerous and it's not safe to go out. Some parents don't teach their kids that and it would have been dangerous for me to spend time with those kids. I do know some kids from tutoring and social events and things but it's hard to be a good friend if you never see them again. I will work hard and make friends so you don't have to worry about me. If you see me making mistakes, I would be grateful for you telling me 'Stormie you're making mistakes'. That's what my parents do when I get silly.

In good will and with respect,

Cyrus Oceanus IV

PS. Last thing about me is I like reading things so if you like reading I will like you even more

→ SAMPLE ROLEPLAY.
Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Roleplay Response:
Big kid. Big kid looking mad. Or embarrassed. Or something.

As he was right to be. Stormie had committed a grave trespass upon good manners. If the boy was something at Stormie, a little apology wasn't enough to heal the damage done.

Stormie's eyeline melted away from the speaker. It's impolite to stare. Stormie had forgotten in his excitement. The big kid's tremendous game of stomping back and forth in the rows of flowers had captured him and held tight. Only the kind reminder of proper etiquette had released Stormie from the grasp of his interests.

"Probably you can. I don't have a problem or anything but it's impolite to turn down help once it's offered." No chance - none, none, none - that Stormie would be impolite twice in one day. "Thank you for being so generous. What kind of help do you want to give me?"

Hi Cyrus, otherwise known as 'Stormie'!  Your application looks great!

I just want to clarify one thing:  Stormie's birthdate is 14 February 1956.  For a first year starting in 1968-1969, the correct date of birth would be 14 February 1957.  For a second year, the year would then be 1956 as you have it.  If you can either edit his birth year to 1957 or requested year to 2nd, then we can go ahead and get you accepted.

No need to repost; just respond to this to clarify whether you want to change his birth year or age/school year.  Thanks!
without patience, magic would be
undiscovered – in rushing everything,
we would never hear its whisper inside
