Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: André Harris

Birthday: 07 November, 1954

Hometown: Tours, France

Bloodline:
Muggleborn / Halfblood / Pureblood / Unknown

Magical Strength (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Magical Weakness (pick one):
Divination / Transfiguration / Charms / Conjuring & Summoning

Year (pick two): 4th > 7th (I think that current rosters will be advanced by 1 year. If not, 3rd > 6th)

Biography:
André, is one of the two twin children of Arthur Harris, a British-origin auror and Patrice Lisette-Harris, a French potions master. Lisette family is one of the rather well-known pureblood families of France, and she has an aura of elitism around her. Arthur, on the other hand, is a chivalrous but a more straightforward man. With their twin children, André and Cecilia, the family is quite out of a neoclassicist painting from the outside. Well, it is mostly like that from the inside, too. All family members care for each other, look for each other, and support each other and it is one of the better families to grow in.

However, especially on André's account, things aren't much perfect. Overshadowed by his twin sister's intellect and charisma, he couldn't escape the judgment, especially from his mother's side. During his muggle-schooled period before he was admitted to Beauxbatons, he didn't have the best grades, unlike his sister. During his time in his mother's workshop, and also after attending Beauxbatons, him being awful in potions, which is what the Lisette lineage are the known best for, didn't help him much as well. He was prone to get bored in many of his lessons. The list goes on like that. Under these circumstances, he grew a quite insecure and diffident personality, but also, one that values trustworthiness and friendship highly.

Although he wasn't the ideal student or child from many aspects, during his first year, he discovered the charming world of charms. The first spell he learnt, Spongify, was also the first spell he held his first experiments on. Finally finding a topic that he is fascinated and capable, charms became his personality, his perspective, and his future. Considering he had a stigma of black sheep from a much younger age, he still has some issues within his family to gain respect close to his "exemplary" sister. But over time, he hopes that he can earn respect of his family, his friends, and teachers.

Due to some complications in their hometown, Lisette-Harris family moved to the Great Britain this summer. The family found that staying in Beauxbatons would be more suitable for Cecilia. However, André, hoping to extend his breathing room and possibly have a better start, wanted to transfer to Hogwarts. And this is where his journey in Hogwarts begins.

Note: This section is optional, and is up to you to complete.

House Request: Hufflepuff

Personality:
Due to him struggling within his family, especially with the relatives on the mother-side, he values friendships highly since that's where he is appreciated more. He also regards his professors highly and aims to earn their respect. However, him lacking self-confidence is an issue with him being highly social. He wants to be socially active, but lacks the charisma and confidence that are highly important to make friends easily in teenage years. He is also a coward one who cannot disobey authority, but also cannot say "no" much to his friends; therefore, finding himself in trouble sometimes while following his trouble-seeking friends while attempting to dissuade them. This trait of his, combined with his lack of perceptiveness and cluelessness regarding telling and discerning lies also leave his trust highly abuse-prone as well. But he values good intentions, true friendships; he is a geek when it comes to charms, quidditch, and wizard chess who may lose track of time while talking about those topics.

Appearance:
He has a slender, yet fit (thanks to quidditch) build, fair messy hair and brown eyes. He has some freckles and a clean face which increase him being seen as more of a child than he is combined with all his lack of confidence.

Option I:

The dungeons. A place eleven-year-old Evangeline had not yet travelled since her arrival at Hogwarts.

A place she really was just fine with not knowing; but it was too late. The dare had been accepted, even if it had been done in fear of being kicked out of Gryffindor, like the older girls had said she would because Gryffindors were supposed to be brave.

The air changed instantly when she hit the main corridor of the dungeons. The dampness was almost too much for her and she instinctively took a deep breath to avoid the sensation of being suffocated. There was also a sour burning smell which Evangeline assumed was from many, many Potions lessons.

Further and further she walked, her steps so slow and gentle they made no noise against the stone walls and floor. The feeling that she wasn't alone crept up her spine and raised the tiny hair on the back of her neck. Shivering, Evangeline wrapped her arms around herself. Suddenly, she missed the warmth and comfort of the Gryffindor common room. The fire was always going and it made her feel at ease.

Why had she let those girls talk her into this? She was only eleven, she didn't have to be brave. Surely the Headmistress would not kick her out of Hogwarts for not being brave.

If only she had these thoughts while being dared to search for the ghost of one Emma Birch, whom supposedly haunted the dungeons. It was not, Evangeline had learned, the place where the sixteen-year-old girl's life had ended but as she had been from the house with a snake as its mascot, it was the place her spirit had returned to. That common room was down here somewhere, she'd been told.

Something - the small blonde girl wasn't quite sure what - but something made her stop in her tracks suddenly. There was a low, dull thumping noise. Or maybe that was her heart beating so loudly she thought it was coming from outside her body.

"H-h-hello?" Her voice was barely above a whisper.

Remembering that she was supposed to be brave, Evangeline tried again.

"Hello! Is Emma Birch here?"

The sound of her own words bouncing back at her off the walls made her jump.

(Well, André just transferred to Hogwarts from Beauxbatons. So, this may be a RP from a possible future for the character.)

The messy hair of his could be the only highlight that could be noticed about the wandering boy, in the darkness of the dungeons. With its stone structure and colder-than-rest of the castle temperature, dungeons always had a darker feeling than it is in this nighttime of an autumn day.

He hasn't been in Hogwarts for a long while, but he had learnt that portraits on the walls aren't pleased when someone with a lit wand walks between them during the nighttime. Their complaints can blow someone's cover quite easily in these silent and echo-prone halls. But, this wasn't the main reason the boy was careful. No, as a transfer student, he had a lot to catch on and he learnt quite a lot from his elders on those portraits. And he didn't want to be more a nuisance than he already is to them.

Maybe he wasn't in Hogwarts long enough overall, but he found some really nice places to study as well. In order to study the variations of the lighting charm as extensively as he wanted, he also should have tried it in the nighttime. "Lumos", as a word, could be originated from "luna", which meant moon. Considering that numerology and language help with a spell's effectiveness, the lighting charm's potency could actually have some impact from the state of the moon. Considering his dormmates' potential reactions for such a study in the room, he had only this choice of studying stealthily -well, as stealthy as the lights go around- in the nighttime.

His thoughts regarding his experiments were interrupted once with a hardly understandable greeting echoed through his ears, followed by a more vivid question. That name seemed familiar, but he couldn't remember. That voice... It was completely stranger, though. The voice seemed to have a childish tone, which possibly meant it belonged to an underclassman. What would an underclassman want to do in such a time, here, echoing her voice through the halls in a search? He felt like he had to do something immediately and run towards the voice, initially, to prevent his cover to be blown. But he stopped himself in just less than a second. Probably if he just ran up to her, she could get quite scared. Possibly screamed. He wanted to ease the approach. The cover would be blown from that voice already.

-Hey, I don't know about Emma but keep silent, I'm coming.

He said with a soft but loud enough voice so that it could slightly echo towards her. As he approached between one or two disgruntled portraits, he started to see the short figure. He came closer, and wanted to ease the situation some more before his last steps.

-Don't worry, I'm not here to bust or squeal on you.

He finally came to the point where he could see her childish figure, wrapping herself with her arms. He checked around quickly, which was completely a move made of a habit, and had no point considering the darkness surrounding the two, and after making unreliably sure that nobody is around, turned to the small girl in front of him and started talking, expecting her response:

-You must be feeling cold, are you okay? You are here breaking the school rules, but you look like you don't want to be here. Need any help?
