Application for Hogwarts School

→ CHARACTER INFORMATION.

Name: Cancer Solar

Birthday: July 1st, 1950

Hometown: Currently resides at Hogsmeade Child's Home

Bloodline: Halfblood

Magical Strength: Divination

Magical Weakness: Charms

Year: First (preferred), second

Biography:
It was July 8th, 1950 when Iris decided it was time to bring the girl to an orphanage. The witch needed time to focus on herself, rather than the baby with no known father. Herself and the stars- that's how it was meant to be. Everyone seemed to think she was crazy- even other wizards- but Iris knew different. No, the stars would save her, she had only to find the right place and right time. Eyes would glance down at the tiny human in her arms, trying to figure out a name. Cancer Solar- her obsession forever stuck with this young girl.

Cancer didn't really grow up with parents. Sure, there were caretakers, foster families, but none of them ever became family for the child. Her only relative seemed more like a question, or a quest. The idea of a quest as a family member led to wondering why- her imagination finding itself to be rather negative. After all, no one had really been able to ever answer her question of where or who her family was. Were they even in Tallaght anymore- or Ireland for that matter? Whatever the reason, it had to have been because of her- something she had done wrong. Wherever they were, she would find them- eventually.

Her time in Ireland ended rather abruptly. Apparently levitating herself or other objects wasn't normal (not that she had ever considered herself normal). The random refilling of her cup with more water was also unusual, although it seemed to have gone unnoticed by others (or not, she wasn't quite sure). Deciding that she was indeed a witch, others moved her to the Hogsmeade Child's Home so that no muggles would figure out magic. Cancer never said much about the move, just that it happened. In her mind, though, it meant she was further off course to find her family.

Nothing all that notable happened during her time there- except for one thing. A friend- the girl who tended to try and hide from others now considered herself as having one friend. It was improvement, surely, that came with bad news as the 11 year old realized she would soon be at Hogwarts, and Addie would not. There wasn't much else to do except go to this school of magic and wait.

→ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

House Request: Ravenclaw

Personality:
It's.. rather unknown. She tries to act as best she can to fit a pleasant person, changing depending on the feedback of other people. Because of this, emotions versus thoughts of emotions versus what should be felt seem to confuse her, the idea of emotions still relatively new. Her interests lie in divination (since that'll help find her parents hopefully), as well as having at least a little bit of knowledge on most things. She is not active, nor does she care to be active- rather, running around for extended periods of time just seems strange to her.

Appearance:
Any curls that had been in her dark brown hair were gone as it grew longer, seeming to straighten out more. That didn't make it any easier to maintain, though, easier finding itself in tangles. Her eyes were dark as well, with pale skin that gave the faint idea of a vampire. Her clothing is rather plain and generally well kept for, although that may be because she has no interest in sports.

Option 2:

That rat of his was in for it now.

The gray little rascal had disappeared from his clutches at breakfast. Again.

Before Hugh even knew what was happening, Merlin had shot across the floor, somehow managing to avoid all the feet walking across the hall and had escaped through the open doors.

Which meant that Hugh was now stomping through rows of flowers and other various flora, searching for the small creature. It was like the rat knew Hugh was allergic to most flowers. Merlin always chose to run to the gardens whenever he got away from Hugh. It was as if the rat did not want to have him for an owner.

Hugh had named his pet Merlin because he had hoped the powerful name would give the rat more incentive to be more than a rat. Not that he expected Merlin to change into a wizard or anything, but rats were just so...useless, for the most part. With a name like Merlin, Hugh thought it might give the rat purpose.

The only purpose Merlin seemed to have was getting away from Hugh as often as possible.

As the fifth year trudged into the second row of flowers, not taking much care to avoid trampling the first row, he felt the first sneeze building up pressure in his nose and behind his eyes.

"You blasted rat! Where are you?"

He pulled apart a section of bright red flowers; he didn't know what they were called because he despised flowers, and ducked his head low to peer into the depths of the flowerbed. It was moving closer in proximity to the flowers that finally did it. Hugh took in three great breaths and then let out an almighty sneeze. It was strong enough to disturb some of the dirt on the ground before him.

Groaning, he stood up again and wiped his nose on his sleeve. It was as he was turning his head, his nose running up and down his arm, that movement in his peripheral vision caught his attention. Normally one who preferred to put his best face forward, Hugh was a bit embarrassed to be caught wiping his runny nose on his robes.

Nevertheless, Hugh put on his best haughty voice. albeit a bit thickly with his plugged nose and said, "Can I help you with something? It is not polite to stare."

Flowers were quite pretty to look at, flashes of color against the very common green. And yet everywhere else, green was generally not a usual color. Except Slytherin, of course, but one could note the difference between emeralds and grass. Cancer rarely found herself outdoors anymore, especially when there was so much of the library to explore and so many classes to keep up with. One might even wonder if she had seen the light in a while, if only from the torches in the hallways of Hogwarts.

That was unimportant now, though, she had found her way outside. And, in front of another person. His reaction seemed a little strange. Why someone would feel defensive over a sneeze was beyond her. The person before her could also probably pummel her into the ground, a fate Cancer decided was best avoided. It didn't seem like a good idea to ruin her first time outside in who knew how long. Dark eyes shifted to glance down at the ground before her.

"Sorry, I was surprised by the noise." While it wasn't remotely true, the girl suspected it would well enough considering she had been in the area. It was only the timing that she changed, he had caught her attention when seeming to faceplant into the flowers. "What-" she'd stop herself, "Would you like some help with something?" It seemed the nicest way to ask what might be the issue. Perhaps it was nothing, but again, it still hadn't seem all that natural to intentionally fall on the flowers.

Biography: (100 words minimum.)
Iris was a witch, obsessed with anything that happened outside of the Earth's atmosphere. It was mostly zodiac signs, and divination, although she seemed to know a little bit about everything. She was also a little crazy, never quite following rules, or having a right mind. She told everyone she was a witch, although no one ever believed her due to the obvious off-ness about her.

Life went downhill when she had her first child. She didn't know who the father was, and certainly couldn't take care of the baby girl. Currently living in Tallaght, Ireland, she dropped the girl off at a nearby orphanage with only a name, Cancer Solar. Her obsession perfectly shown in a simple name.

Cancer was a well-behaved child. Her worry for some reason being kicked out of the place seemed to keep her in line. She was suspicious of most others, except a few of the children who lived at such orphanage. No one was ever able to explain why her parents weren't with her, or even who they were. Her imagination led her to believe they had left her, sick of who she was. Either that, or they had died somehow. Neither were in any way optimistic, but that wasn't a trait of the young girl. It only led her to wonder what she had done wrong.

While she kept more to herself, the reserved child knew surprisingly well how to talk to others. Her creativity and random thoughts were impressive, as well as her manipulation. When talking to others, she found it comfortable to hide under a mask of egotism and self-assurance. Even if this wasn't true to herself, it certainly helped quite a bit during times at the orphanage.

A few odd occurances, and soon Cancer was transported to the Hogsmeade Child's Home. Apparently those few acts of levitation and bursts of water had been magic at hand, something the little girl seemed to have. They decided it would be best to keep her away from muggles, worried that they might catch on.

She has brown curly hair, and dark brown eyes. She is a little small for her age, and generally prefers to be left alone. She also isn't really a fan of her name, but doesn't want to change it.

Roleplay:

Godric Park.

Overhead, the sky was a crisp blue, for once clear of the ever-pervasive spongy clouds and rain. The sun was a lemony-yellow presence, high in the Eastern sky, and in front of it zipped three broomsticks in a straight line, or something very like one. One... two..... three... the boys passed, their shouts of excitement echoing as they chased the snitch, a tiny shimmer reflecting the sunlight.

Far below was another, much smaller broomstick.

It trugged along the ground, hugging close to it like a sluggish choo choo train and occasionally shuttering in protest. This was because said stick was currently being occupied by a very small girl who was tugging upward on the front of it with all her might, trying to coax it into doing what it had been expressly designed NOT to do.

"John, I said wait up!" The tiny girl squealed, giving the broomstick another tug.

Begrudgingly, it drifted upward a foot, and then sank, depositing the troublesome girl safely on the ground. Janey Hurst was not pleased. In a huff, she hopped off the toy safety broom, grabbing it firmly and thrusting it handle first into the turf.

Her brother was such a beast. He NEVER let her play! She folded her arms, seething blue eyes fixing on another figure nearby.  "You!" She barked, much more sharply than she meant to.

"...Do you want to play?"

Roleplay Response:
The young girl had been busily thinking, and watching others, on the bench besides the grassy field. Her mind was a whirlwind, picking up ideas, and floating them somewhere else, ultimately leading to either genius ideas, or simple self-negativity. The brown eyes perked up as she heard a shout, watching the girl curiously. She felt herself put on a smile, stilling her tapping leg. The brown eyes grew to be a little colder, but curiosity was still the most evident trait.

Her eyes slowly darted between the boys and the young girl, the smile growing a little bit at a time. She stood up from the bench, brushing herself off slightly, before walking closer to the girl.

"He's not letting you play with him, right? Why don't we steal the snitch. It's bound to come closer to the ground. Plus, it'll be fun!" She grinned, although she was truly wondering if she was fast enough. Probably not, she never was.
